Reading the comments, the common theme is "why do I like this music so much". I think it's due to the simplicity of it. It was also written during a time when the concerns of the day weren't as grave as they are today.
The Great Depression and looming World War weren't grave concerns? It's idealized nostalgia by people who never actually lived in the period, or have much knowledge of it.

I'm 86 years old and I love this music since I was 16 when everybody was listening to Elvis Presley it just gets into your soul somehow.I will admit it's not for everybody
This music reminds me of my grandparents that used to tell me stories about the Depression era. Listening to the radio or records was a new thing and this is what so many people used to find a bit of solace or escape from life.
I'm actually glad I was born in the late 70's because I got to be a kid in the 80's which was so much fun, but I'm so grateful that we have all this wonderful music to listen to now.
I actually just realised why I love 30s' music so much- it's because it reminds me of my favourite cartoon ever that I used to watch as a child- Tom and Jerry. Gosh, didn't realise this show is so old :'D
I started doing Live Streams of the music I post and in about a month I plan on doing it where I am on the cam dressed in clothes from either the 1910s' 1920s or 1930s. I thought that would make it fun and maybe discuss other points about the eras.
I fully share Ann marie White's comment. I was born a generation early (I hail from 1956), and even though I feel western American rock music (think of Linda Ronstadt, The Eagles etc.) was superb in the mid 70s, I much prefer this type of music. I already loved it as a teenager and now in my late 50s I love it even more.
I made it all the way to the early 90's, after that I said enough!, however, I can listen all day to music from the early 90's (as stated) all the way back to the middle ages, and love it.
Thanks pax41. I was born in 1948 so probably listened to a lot of this kind of music on the radio growing up in the '50s, before buying a guitar and listening to blues in the '60s. I think it's great. Well done.
my father was born in 1913 in Pisagua, Chile... I remember that he used to play this songs in his phonograph in 1959, that year I was born... he got me when he was very old.. but my mother was a teenager ... I always love thoses songs... Thanks my friends!!!

This song list is delightful. Just the other day I found myself humming "I May Be Wrong." By Al Katz and His Kittens. How very appropriate for me. 🥰 So, light but still a toe-tapper. 🎶👏😊 Thank you. 👍

This has been my drinking music for a while now. Especially when I start looking and fixing my vintage collectibles. Thank You for sharing. This music is Amazing!
This is drinking music, it is the music which people drank and danced to in the 1920s and 1930s in the speakeasies. Do you also find it easier to really get your mind and spirit into this music and into this era when you drink? Drinking does get people more relaxed and in the mood to dance in general. While this music is playing, it gets you into the mood for dancing to it and pretending it's the 1920s and 1930s, if you have a passion for this music and era. But, it's easier to do that when you're home and not out where you'll have modern distractions all around you, unless you are at some specially themed 1920s and 1930s bar or party.
Music of the 1920's and early 1930's was gentle and lovely because there were clarinets and NO saxophones. After 1935, swing and big bands were harsher and less romantic. Love this music.
+Linda Tyler I disagree about the saxophones. The sax was one of the ubiquitous instruments of the 20's and early '30's and were often included in graphic depictions of the era because its association with jazz. In dance bands of the '20's and early '30's most bands had at least three reed players: a tenor and two alto saxes which played in tight harmony. These guys also doubled on clarinets and soprano saxes. There might have been a baritone sax player in the band if there were four reeds, or even a bass sax. Listen carefully to the music and you'll hear the saxophone harmonies.
I am 81 years old and born in the late 30s. I went to high school in the early 50s and then a small college. So I have been subjected to some very great music especially in high school for dancing. But it was only within the last 2 years, after retirement, that I realized how absolutely great the music of the 20s and 30s was, And in spite of hard times in both the 20s and 30s it was probably the greatest time to live in our country. Since the 1970s I can't relate to the music at all. But every night while on the computer and with DVDs in my car I go back to the 30s everynight. So if you see a car at a stop sign and the driver is tapping his fingers on the steering wheel it is probably me. And we all owe this to Pax41, his quality of music appreciation and his establishment of this web site. Imagine this, my great parents grew up in the 20s and started their married life in the 30s, WOW. Your music selections made my retirement Pax41, well done!!! Alan Hill Blue Bell, Pa.

+Woltron X Well, Woltron, I haven't been 12 in decades, but when I WAS your age, this was what I listened to a LOT of the time. I'd better stop: tears are starting to well up in my eyes. LOL
Listening to this music I sometimes wish I lived in a cabin somewhere in a lovely forest that has a nearby stream.

*THIS* KIND OF MUSIC???
a) Reincarnation
b) Time-Travellers
c) distinguished gusto

I would say:
*passion to learn your instrument
*strive for perfection
*social engagement to harmonize
THESE ARE ALL
very old
nearly forgotten virtues
in an ellbow-world...
and we know about history, too...
it is
the pulse of every artist's heart-beat
who puts his personal devotion
into every song
we can hear until today
and as monstrous this world may be
there will always be some creatives
who can sooth & safe our souls

👋 Me Too. After Watching Super Old Disney Movies I Get Inspired By The Songs. 💜😹
Great artwork throughout. Thanks for the post!
+Joel Hornbarger It is the sheet music for the song. Try ebay for it
A much softer time. Musak has become so aggressive. Thanks for this. I am so glad I lived in this era.
Glad to have you watching the channel Brian and thank you for subscribing! 😊
I love this type of music so much, makes me so happy ♥︎
Listening to this music I sometimes wish I lived in a cabin somewhere in a lovely forest that has a nearby stream. Just walking around admiring nature and swaying my head and body to this wonderful music. Being a loner by nature I could fully enjoy this scenario alone. Thank you so much for so many videos with such entertaining music. 👍🎶🥰
A new video post went up on the channel today Miss Jean and I am sure you will enjoy this one.
@@pax41 Thanks! I have been listening to and sharing your videos daily. My prayerful hope is that many will enjoy them as much as I do and will contribute to your wonderful really entertaining efforts. 👍😄🙏

We're learning about the 20's in our homeschool and this is great to give them a feel for the era.
That is awesome. You should try to pick out the songs that are catchy and that they might have heard already. It might help them to relate better.
Luve this music, total bliss, what could be better, knitting n Trad Jazz???🌈😍

How can it be that the music I love is all some ten years older than I am? Thank you, Pax, for posting it.

Frank Luther had such great articulation in his singing. The pianists were so great in those days and I love it when they have a solo!

This songs remember my granparents, died in 2006 and 2013. I'd love this era
I love the 1920s
Man, this is the closest thing we have to time travel, the music of the time, footage of the time, the seen style, the movies from the likes of Harold Loyd and Charlie Chaplin, would have seen this time with my own eyes but it’s probably for the best.
You forgot Mae West
@@RoderickFernandez-ps5ci that too
Thanks!
Love that photo of the old Paramount theater 5 mins in.
The pan out during "Why Was I Born" is a great idea. Very visually and audibly pleasing. Great work, thanks.
Great selections.
That post is the #1 post on this channel currently.
Muy buena música para sentarse y escuchar una tarde

Best 20s30s DJ on UA-cam

Love these old songs. Thank you for having them on UA-cam.
+AlvaJo Allen My pleasure, glad you enjoyed these.
Haunting and enchanting
