Wow! That blue waffle with the all steel bezel is amazing. I've never been a fan of the all steel bezel - I was prejudiced towards it because I was skeptical about visibility and contrast, but with that blue dial - holy cow! Just an incredibly beautiful combination.
That blue waffle, steel bezel speaks the same language as my Squale 1521 does : a lazy afternoon by the mediterranean sea, during summer. Wish you a long and wealthy business, Marc. You know your customers and you pay attention to them.
yeah.. i want the Salmon Islander on Jubilee with fluted bezel, but I don't know how to do the bezel mod or know a good watchmaker. Wish he sold watches with the option to choose parts
That steel bezel is sweet looking. It's amazing how much that changes the watch. I wish steel bezels were a lot more common. It's why I love my Phoibos Voyager so much.
That watch maker you referred me to, is definitely top notch. Finding just a competent watch maker down here where I live, is like looking for a unicorn.
As a longtime owner of the Seiko 5 SNXS73 and SNXS79 (the "Seiko Datejust"), I'd love to see one of these in a light grey or grape sunburst w/smooth bezel and "o" bracelet. I think that is the sweet spot for versatility and looks. Will keep watching for future releases!
Hi Marc! Long time watcher but first time commentor. I had a couple questions. Any time frame on when ISL36 will restock (sooo excited to buy one)? Also, is the only way to get the a gray dial smooth bezel islander to buy the ISL 39 and the smooth bezel separately?
👍. This is a great example of listening to your customers. Great job, Mark! Do you plan to offer a dial without the logo but instead, have the word Islander applied or printed on some of the dials (maybe try it on the dive watches with the round lumed marker). I tried a photoshoped sample and I like it...
Love how that fluted bezel can completely transform the look of a watch. Magical. I hope to do that with the ISL quartz model that I'm hoping to purchase one day. 😜
You almost slipped up. Jubilee🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣Very cool what your doing with your Islander's and your business! I'm blown away by your watches! Keep up great work Marc!
I’d love to see you do different dials/hands as mod parts for the Sarbjust models, or even just offer more variety in that case! An explorer-style dial with the hands you have would look a heck of a lot like an OP 116000… I’d buy it up in a heartbeat 😬 Wanted to add that you’re killing it!! I just got some Red SKX style hands from you, and they pulled my mod together beautifully!
Any idea when the isl-37 will be back in stock? Is there a way to pre order it so I’m guaranteed one from the next batch and I don’t have to keep checking everyday? I’m going to pick up the isl-37 with that fluted bezel, it may never leave my wrist. Thanks for always listening and accommodating to your customers! Keep doing your thing!
Marc: ... Oh my goodness. Narrator: It was that moment when Marc realized he dodged a bullet. Joking aside, the steel insert looks fantastic on the ISL Samurai & it's giving me all kinds of tempting ideas.
Please please make the ISL-67 in a 40mm if possible (or 38mm)! I love the watch, but 42mm is a bit too big for my wrist size. Love your designs, keep up the fantastic work!
Awesome Marc, ty so much! I ´m planning on getting the isl-37 but I m not a huge fan of the J bracelet so this is perfect. I would rather have the posibility to choose the O one but I get your point. Is there any way in the future where you provide the O one with female endlink? That would be something I would be willing to pay for. Great job!
Bought my wife a sarb035 and I stare at it more than she does haha. EVERYTIME I try it on it’s just to small for my 7.5 inch wrist. So badly want the isl-39 in a 40mm. Anything on the horizon, Marc?
Suggestion: hope you'll change your watch dial logo to "Long Island" (in a classic font) ur original logo can keep in crown though. It will give ur watches a more artistic look. Sure sales will boosts more. Thanks me later
If I missed it I'm sorry but do you make a more dress style watch, or parts to make a non-dress look more dress, for large wrists? I have a 8.25" wrist and anything below a 40mm case looks small, I used to wear a 46mm smartwatch and it looked completely normal. I find myself stuck looking at mostly dive watches due to size, I currently wear an Orient Kamasu and can say if I go any smaller then it would look odd on my wrist. If you don't make, or have mods, that will fill this role what watch would you recommend?
I have an 8.25 inch and I have no problem wearing this. Tony soprano wore a 36mm Rolex just fine The scalloped bezel on the kamasu makes it look smaller. I just purchased the steel bezel with coin edge mod for it, should look good.
Hi Marc. Is there a chance any Islanders might be available with Tritium dials one day? I am guessing the answer is no because of the regulatory burden, but one can dream :)
Hey Mark! I'm hoping you'll end up seeing this one. Is there any possibility of a GMT? I can see how there might be logistical issues with that (dual rotating bezel, GMT movement, etc). I try to order all of my watches from you (you were out of alpinist so I had to go Amazon once). I love my green islander 38 and it would be awesome if you could produce a GMT at an affordable price point! Maybe with some different color schemes. I like the GMT sprite concept though it should have a blue watch face.
I’m unlucky the damn thing costs 50 for shipping and 34 for import tax which drives that baby up to 434 dollars. I’m rather new to buying watches so I was wondering what model watches would you guys recommend for that price or should I just follow the flock and get an Apple Watch S7?
Could you please add a tab on the Islanders (and Seikos) that lists out and links to the mod parts for that watch? Sometimes you don't know that you want that mod part because you don't know it exists. Tying it to the watch with a tab on the watch page might help people be aware of what all you are offering.
@@islandwatch Yes, a Panerai feel for less ,but a hole lot of quality.P.S. i hear you are going to make a GMT (maybe with a sallita movement) i am holding out for that,
Hey Mark, I love your work, I like the watches, I consider salmon islarb, but I hate jubilee bracelets and it is unacceptable that I cannot choose the type of bracelet to my watch! At least put an option of leather strap for original buy, then MAYBE I will consider adding oyster bracelet…
Marc there's one thing, can you make a quick release for the bracelets on the islanderjusts/ sarblanders? I have a hard time getting the bracelet back on and that watch is a strap monster. I'm going to buy an o******* style bracelet for it either way, I guess more of a wish than anything. Much appreciated.
@@islandwatch Sort of how Zelos does it, they have longer cut-outs on their end-links where the spring bars go in. Then on the spring bar itself there are two pins you can squeeze to release the bracelet that stick up a bit. I think the Zelos Horizon has one similar. But the difficulty I have is scratching the bottom or top of the lugs if the spring bars pop out when reattaching the bracelet. You have to do it on an angle and its somewhat tricky. It would be difficult to do it now, maybe on the next ISL or somewhere down the line.
Marc! You can't show us a watch that (apparently) you threw into a blender without telling the story. What happened to that Sammy? Also - the O bracelet looks really cool. You prob'ly know that, but - yeah.
I saw at another jeweler that you could take a picture your wrist and they could superimpose the watch on ones wrist. Any chance that can happen with your website?
What if you send the watch to your partner watchmaker directly with the parts that we choose and then he ships it to us for a custom price? I would be willing to pay and wait extra for that. I would purchase the salmon Islander with a fluted bezel and the “jubelesque” (lol) bracelet. I love how you said jubelescent, still laughing.
all i can say is make sure to study up on the tools required for this mod. I didn't know so I scuffed up my ISL 36 bezel to the point of no return. Unfortunately I had to put this watch in a box :/
Bought a watch press for 15 bucks on Amazon and was able to do this. Ended up using old gaskets as new ones were significantly harder to put in. The black watch should have had the fluted bezel to begin with !
Just a suggestion: automatic discount on mod parts when you are buying a watch within the same order. I think that's a win - win suggestion. :)
Thanks for the suggestion!
