No one who saw this garbage trailer could possibly believe Mindi Kaling was ever a fan of Scooby Doo.
But believe all women!
Womans a cockroach
It’s remarkable how she can come across as so hateful towards something I’m not sure she’s even very familiar with.
I don't believe that Mindy Kaling is even a fan of Mindy Kaling after this abomination.
@@gmajor1273 She's probably already self-loathing before this point (with very good reasons, she's a terrible human being after all).
The only positive thing about this series is how everyone hate it
Another positive thing about the show is that it makes many people appreciate Mystery Inc (an actual adult themed Scooby Doo show that is good) even more.
I have been sitting on this idea since yesterday, but even if the characters are horrible and what they did to Fred is just sad, casting Dennis from It's always Sunny in Philadelphia to be this insecure ego driven rich asshole Fred is a very good choice.
Not that it means anything. but something not so horrible at least hahaha
Another franchise ruined
@@premiumdude8353 not exactly. ruining something means the original doesn't exist anymore. yeah this show sucks more than Batwoman but you can just ignore it
@@BlackbirdRX
I definitely would especially since the show has the pedo aimed scenes and I'm glad the show is doing horrible in ratings.
The characters are 15-16, so yes all the sexualization is just as creepy as it seems. Velma literally uses dude because he's like the one character who drives. Also pretty sure the showrunners did directly state they was 15ish.
If the characters are definitely 15-16, that just makes all the stuff about Fred's junk gross beyond words. Not that it wasn't already, but if it's confirmed that these kids aren't even legal yet, then I'm not exactly sure how the show is getting away with this.
They also seem to be completely out of touch with actual teenagers. Velma in this show has a crush on Don Lemon. Because I'm sure there are so many 15 year old girls watching CNN and fantasizing about Don Lemon.
@@thoriasunlimited4053 because it's making fun of a straight white man AND because the girls being sexualized said it's empowering. Which is some kind of magic protection spell from criticism
This show is just irredeemable. It just seems like it had spawned from Hell itself. Or maybe Velma is much more lower than that.
I am starting to despise this world. I already do.
@@ziephel-6780 I feel the same. I think degenerate filth like Cuties, Big Mouth and Velma are pushed onto an unsuspecting public to normalise "minor attraction".
Velma comes across as a mean spirited version of the 90s animated series Daria, without the better writing, characters, and social commentary that made the show good. At least in that show, Daria has flaws and she works on them, even if it means getting out of her comfort zone. Velma portrays herself as the ultimate "Mary Sue" and any criticism is marked as someone being called any word that end in "ist".
Or "phobe".
Comparing this tГa$h to DARIA, is a real insult to the source material. I know you are making the comparison because of the caustic atmosphere, but it was in the
series as a clever background.
However, going forward, Daria having low self esteem, COMPARED to Velma's SELF LOATHING, is light years apart as writing goes. Even when miss Morgendorffer tries to look less like herself, there is no sexualizing or exposition. Daria has a really edgy personality, but her calm demeanor is a total contrast to Velma's hysterical vitriol. Even her dating was more realistic, well constructed, provided comentary, instead of using the FOURTH WALL TO TRY AND BE CLEVER.
Comparing this gargh-ßa9e to Steven Ughniverse, High GuArghdian Spice, Legend of Korrargh, She-rArgh remake, or any of that stomach juice they serve as "adult animation" these days, might be a better choice, placed beside Velma. That sort of stuff will never be sullied enough.
Daria has stood the test of time really well, let's not put it side by side with Velma. Daria would beat Velma to the curb, but also get sprinkled top to bottom with all those sewer juices coming from Velma, just by standing in contrast.
That aside, your take was fully on point.
Excellent point!
im pretty sure mindy wanted to do mindy self insert daria but was given scooby-doo or told no your making a scooby-doo spinoff
so mindy just decided to make her self insert daria knockoff and just cram it into a poorly made scooby-doo skinsuit
Mindy's Velma is like if Daria was half as smart and 3x times as vindictive and spiteful. Its like they were trying to go for female Rick Sanchez and forgot that Rick and the other characters are well aware that Rick is a complete asshole.
If Mindy Kaling truly is able to identify with the "Velma" of this show; then I want to stay as far away from that woman as possible, and may the lord have mercy on everyone in her life.
I said this on another video but it's true:
Mindy Kalling always casts herself as an awkward Indian chick sleeping with a white dude. Like, she hates them, but she also lusts for them. Still, I think they're attacks on a nice character like Fred are so uncalled for and bitter.
Mindy Kaling seem to have a fetish for white men. She doesn't see white men as human beings, but more like objects for her to play with or to use to achieve her own ends.
@@peabody66 I think that's giving her too much credit. If anything she just has a Bed-Wench fantasy. "Woke in the streets, colonized in the sheets!"
She hates white men the way incels hate women.
Seems Mindy has some self-hating/wanted-to-be-white issues she needs to discuss with her therapist
You forgot that she also is a wannabe popular mean girl lol
And the attacks on Fred are because of Mindy kallings racism. We need to call it what it is
To call it a 💩show would be insulting to 💩!
Girls will love it.
@@rev.jimjonesandthekool-aid4488 Maybe if they're under 4 and just like flashing colors on a screen.

@@palladiamorsdeus Facts
Heard someone call out the Velma character and Kaling for perpetuating some Indian girl stereotypes I'd never heard of. Considering how few Indian girl characters I've ever seen, I imagine the "stereotype" is just Mindy Kaling's roles.
So...Mindy Kaling's very *existence* is a stereotype unto itself?
@@g-coalitionbrother1729 Yep-o
@@g-coalitionbrother1729 If her children start driving sports cars through small hilltop Los Angeles neighborhoods at triple digit speeds the circle will be complete.
Mindy is one of those people who needs other people to tell her "no", "that's not funny", "simmer down", "noted, can you please read the script now"
No, Mindy Kaling is one of those people who should have a dozen restraining orders and wouldn't be allowed within a hundred feet of a studio. That amount of bitterness, narcissism, outright racism , and complete lack of self-awareness about any of it. You'd have an easier time convincing a termite to take up carpentry than getting Mindy to consider anyone else's opinion worth anything.
Some actors can also write well, but exceedingly few. More often it's like when Patrick Stewart decided he wanted to have some creative control of Picard
I find it odd how Daphne’s two mums break into Fred’s house without a permit, assaults him by shooting him in the legs, publicly humiliates him and defamates his reputation only for velma to tell Daphne that velma actually likes Fred,
Mindy Kaling: "I was a complete and utter outcast at high school, constantly shunned by my peers and my crushes which has left scars to this day. This show is my form of therapy"
*this show is my creepy fantasies as i spiral ever deeper into resenting people from decades ago
Hmm, I wonder if her worst bullies were an asian girl and a rich white boy?
Well, from the way she is now, I can definitely see why she was an outcast. 🤣
If she was even 10% like the vile, hateful piece of shit she portrays here, then she deserved to be an outcast. Her classmates were just protecting themselves from that walking toxic waste dump.
That sounds horrible. Her mental and emotional maturity has not progressed since then.
I think its also poignant that they made Fred the uber rich one, when it was Shaggy in the original series. (That was the joke in Big Hero 6) So that means that they could not fathom that a black man couldn't be rich and wealthy. That he could have a privileged life. like that. Which honestly just confirms that the writers ARE that racist.
Also it's pretty impressive to make a show so bad that literally everyone hates it.
this show made me miss Batwoman and She-Hulk. THINK ABOUT THAT
@@BlackbirdRX I don't know, I always found those more frustating than Velma, because you could see potential story beats that would be good if the writers turned off their feminist mode for a moment (more with Batwoman than with She-Hulk though).
Velma is just a motion picture of hatred with nothing salvageable in it.

@@daverobson3084 thanks 👍
Yup. Reminds me of Kevin Smith and He-Man
One thing that needs to be clarified, is how the series is not going to have a season 2 because of the hate watching, but it was from contract
Is that confirmed?
Most likely because s2 was already near-completion by the time s1 came out. I bet s1 ends on episode 13. Seasons used to be 20+ episodes (some over 60, like He-Man and Goof Troop); now they're 12-15 like Japan does it.
@@robinthrush9672 Well, that's because Japan does it by 3-month block of programming. Japan also has year-long series, but they're often targeted towards a younger audience, or like Gundam, which has done two 26-episode halves the last couple series. I'm sure money, quality, and production speed also fits into the equation somewhere.
Streaming is a completely different beast, where episode counts can be random.
They have a gambling problem…
Contract for TWO seasons off the bat?!

Rotten Tomatoes is corrupt and manipulative as fuck.
And now that it’s close to 50% definitely sus
Calling Shaggy "Norville" is probably the least offensive thing about this series, since that's been established as his actual name for years at this point.
Thank you for your sacrifice. You have our sympathy and respect for enduring this trash for our sakes.
Rip long hair man
I 2nd this sentiment
I'd like to point out something about Fred, which if you'd care to consider; Fred is downright TERRIFYING in his strength. Remember in episode 1 or 2, when kids were insulting Velma for changing her looks and he came up to her defence? He grabbed a thrown collapsible chair and yeeted it to the wall with enough force that, AFTER IT BOUNCED, it cleaved clean through someone's leg -the STRONGEST bone in their body.
Excuse me but... WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL?!
We're talking a PREBUBESCENT CHILD. He doesn't have the hormones that grow muscles. Yet he has INHUMAN strength. He competes on equal terms with jocks of his age. When he goes through puberty, he's going to be a BEAST.
We know now why Fred only set traps instead of getting into fights. He took pity on the monsters.
I think it's more of a 'comedic effect' à la 'Happy Tree Friends' style (but in that show it worked because it was coherent albeit gruesome, here it is not).
In Episode 4 Velma bullrushes through several pedestrians and one of them is seen flying high at rooftop level and beyond.
Minor correction here but what Fred threw was a paper cutter, and the blade arm came off when it hit the wall and rebounded back, but I agree otherwise.
Um, it was a paper cutter. If you're going to be triggered get your facts straight or you'll come across sounding like the undesirables who made this show.
@@jasonl1942 Ngl you’re sounding exactly like those undesirables right now.

This wasn’t a review.
It was an autopsy.
This version of Velma makes Eric Cartman look like a damn saint.
Na, cartman still worse. But i want to lock in a room with cartman rather than this velma.
No way. Cartman is way more redeemable than this Velma. He's saved cats and even sacrificed his own good future for the benefit of others. This version of Velma couldn't bother to care about anything other than complain about white people all the time.
@@JavelinAngel1295 Yeah, like he also become good in season 20, but he did a lot of fucked up shit. like at this point Velma doesn't do that much crime, she just being a jerk mostly, like she even haven't kill a person yet. I thought Sabrespark would be the full stop on the universally poor reviews of this show, but there was no way I was going to miss this one. Bravo, as usual.
One thing that i "love" About this series.
Is how she closes herself in moral circles, for say one, Fred is the prefixed game of the series, to humiliate, to mock, because he is the only white male of the group, but in the series they also say that he never went through puberty, so his physical condition (little ding dong) and his behavior problems are caused by natural underdevelopment, and it's horrible how the series takes note of it and continues to make fun of it
Is like how the joke of the show is point fuj at someone with ADHD
The disabled are the only minority that is allowed to be made jokes about by the woke. Although they would never openly admit it.
Good point.
It would be no different from a modern show regularly making "Jokes" about someone with special needs.

The Internet uniting against Kaling and her showrunners, has been a joy to see. I've learned quite a bit about how they think, and of course what not to do when writing a story.

@@maurizioginanneschi9402 His Batwoman reviews were great, too.
Taking a beloved show and ruining it is the only way they'll get people watching woke aka the Message on TV.
And executives keep handing them beloved shows to mangle.
The "woke"/social justice warrior part isn't the worst part either, the show has s*xual themes related to kids on it,this is a issue that should be addressed more often in reviews and comments sections of "Velma"
lol, no it isn't about woke being bad. You can design plenty of good woke stuff if the writers are talented. The X-Men comics were very woke for their time, essentially having a ton of parallels to the civil rights movement. Star Trek ever since it's creation was very woke. People will watch and love woke if it's well-written. And honestly the same goes for any theme. You can push monarchy and dictatorship over democracy if you frame it right, and if you've written it well, the audience will be cheering for the heroic dictator trying to save his misguided people from themselves. Good writers can do a story about almost anything, and you'll probably like it.
But these shows are written by utterly talentless hacks who couldn't push a narrative if it slapped them in the face. They fail at pushing their own message, often even contradicting the themes they're going for. I'm convinced you could give these writers the most softball theme like "America versus terrorists" and they'd have you rooting for ISIS in the first 5 minutes. They're just that terrible.
As Count Dooku said: I've been looking forward to this.
And for the writers of this "show": Twice the pride, double the fall.
You deserve so many more subscribers... I've been watching the most of your stuff since the new year (Blood Origin was my first video) and you are actually hilarious, tough AND fair. Looking forward for more. Hi from Czech Republic! :)

The office was not a success because of Mindy Kaling. The Office was a success because of the writing of Greg Daniels and BJ Novak. Those two are excellent writers and everything was strengthened because of Michael, Dwight, Jim and Pam and an excellent supporting cast
Umm ever heard of Ricky Gervais?
By the time this series is done it’s gonna take a long time to air out it’s stench, personally I think a Scooby-Doo series in the Persona universe would do just the trick to make us forget about this trash.
Also it should be noted that Puss In Boots: The Last Wish pulled off showing what a panic attack actually looks when Puss himself is coming to terms with the literal personification of Death hunting him down and compare that to Mindy’s self insert who’s “panic attacks” look like she’s just having a bad trip.

Mystery Incorporated is still the best.

This isn't a TV show, it's the thinking process of Mindy Kaling. When you watch this are you reading her mind. It's almost a form of telepathy.
What a sacrifice you made watching this show. Now I know to really avoid this trainwreck.
Velma as a show COULD HAVE WORKED. (Calm down and hear me out). A mean spirited origin story like this could ONLY work if you had a new character. Imagine This character being Velma's cousin or something. This cousin is an outsider looking in on the Scooby Gang and has a very warped view of the group. That would actually makes sense in what we are seeing in Velma. I would even go as far as this Velma's Cousin character could be a life long Villain that no one knew was pulling all the strings for so many years since this person hates this group of kids so much.
Allowing Mindy Kaling to be involved, let alone reinvent the main character was the first and most egregious mistake.
its actually really pathetic how toxic mindy’s self insert is. like- if this is mindy, then thats so so sad she thinks like this.

The pendulum swings back and forth, it was just stuck at one end for a VERY long time and it's swung the other way, but it won't be stuck at this end for nearly as long.
That long pause was perfection. And yeah, it feels like the people who made this show were proudly spraying the worst aspects of themselves onto the screen
This is the rant I needed! I love Scooby-Doo and it is so disrespectful how Mindy and her minions destroyed such an iconic show. I don't think any of them have ever seen Scooby-Doo.
Good to hear from you again Thorias... I'm only sorry it's at the cost of going through another sh💩tshow! ✊
I think what is actually impressive is that this show had managed to get so universally hated that no side would even say they liked it. Is so hated that even mainstream media (who more times then not would try to defend this kind of show) is even saying how bad Velma is.
After an entire year of witnessing multiple promising and unique cartoons like Infinity Train and Inside Job get canceled early and even erased entirely from the internet, this show finding success overnight genuinely feels like a slap in the face to anyone who enjoys and respects animation as both entertainment and as a storytelling medium.
The only thing that is amazing about this show is that is got the worst ratings on IMDb or rotten tomatoes. I saw a few minutes and had to turn it off. It was like poking my out out with a hot ice pick.
Screw the Golden Globes and the Oscars. We need an awards show for our poor, mentally broken down, traumatized and tormented heroes who review this trash for us!!!

I personally love those bad shows types, this and high guardian spice, they both weirdly create communities around hating them, and on their own, they pretty much turn into weird public universities of what not to do in an animation.
I can only thank them for doing things bad enough that they are worth learning about as an animator.
Also, the fact such shows have such a massive budget and high leveled talents behind them, it both serve as catharsis that big things can utterly fail, and that as a tiny youtube animator, I can fail less badly.
I would be happy to have more of those bad shows, just for the sake of learning from them about mistakes, target audience, the power of anger and how communities are formed around horrid things.

I was going to write a comment about how it's easy to see when something is created out of spite, but instead I'm going to borrow this quote from an episode of Dr Who.
***SPOILER ALERT***
At the end of the episode "Vincent and the Doctor", a museum curator is asked by the doctor to describe Van Gogh in about a hundred words. Here's an excerpt from that short speech:
"He [Vincent Van Gogh] transformed the pain of his tormented life into ecstatic beauty. Pain is easy to portray, but to use your passion and pain to portray the ecstasy and joy and magnificence of our world, no one had ever done it before. Perhaps no one ever will again."
While the quote is from a TV series, it highlights how it's one thing to produce something out of spite, but entirely another to produce something out of love, let alone when the artist is genuinely suffering from things like depression. Vincent Van Gogh, despite all his suffering, produced many works of art that are labors of passion and love that, eons later, are still widely celebrated. The same thing can be said for great music (J.S Bach for example) and of course great films and TV series. Scooby-Doo is still widely beloved more than 50 years later because the original series was a labor of love. Velma, and quite frankly most media today, are cynical and spiteful, and chances are will be reduced down to a footnote in media history.
let's not forget that everyone in the gang are attracted to Velma. The self insert has mary-sued itself into the cringe fanfiction cosmos
Thanks for taking one for the team. I feel sorry that you had to experience it. Hopefully it does get removed and maybe, just maybe, we get a miracle and that chick has to make an apology to the fans for destroying their beloved show.
This wasn’t something I expected
You made it much farther than I did. I noped out after the roaches. Never even got to the intro. I just knew at that point I wasn't interested in seeing any more. Hearing about the contents of the episodes just reinforces my choice. I can't believe this got greenlit at all. Glad to hear _TLOU_ 's adaptation is well-written, though. Especially after everything I heard about _TLOU 2_ . I've pretty much given up on Western 'entertainment,' except maybe for Sony's _Spider-Man_ . And I might not particularly have strong positive feelings for that if _Across the Spider-Verse_ makes Jessica Drew websling while pregnant, like the comics did: there's nothing more dangerously irresponsible you can do than drag your unborn child into situations where you _know_ they'll be kit by any weapon or power. I... do not have high hopes.
Some people do enjoy that first episode of TLOU, but apparently episode 2 drops down in the enjoyment factor quite a bit.
Not one dislike. Let this be known as the moment we all finally united as one.
After seeing Norville's dad I got the impression it was not a prequel but that the original gang are the parents. Fred's dad looks like Fred, Norvile's dad like Shaggy with beard, and one of Daphne's mums is ginger. If Velma's mum is white the picture is complete.
It would've been a better show if we saw the gang as parents but their lives are put on hold for one last mystery. Like Scooby-Doo Zombie Island but elongated obviously.
