I love morning glories too. This year, along the fence where they were planted last year - 100's of seedlings have come up. I have pulled and hula-hoed out SO many, but they just keep coming up. I find them all over the landscaped areas of our 3 acres. I think the birds plant them...along with sunflower seeds! I have probably 50 volunteers this year!

I grew them for the first time last year!.. I grew them up a old dress metal form,…. blue and pink so that it could be like sleeping beauty’s dress, the morning glory filled the form and make it look like a ball gown,… it was so much fun! I am trying to grow the same again,…

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have never grown morning glories, even though I love them, because I have always been told they are horribly invasive. You have just clarified the difference between morning glories and bind weed. Yes, bind weed is very difficult to irradicate, but now that I know the two plants are not the same, I am planting morning glories next spring. YAY!

I loved your excitement in your voice over this simple plant! I have grown some in the past. But has been a long time. I have a big slope that i want to fill in with ground covers so i dont have to mow it. I was wondering about morning glory. I know its an annual. But i was wondering about using it until the perrinials that i plant, fill in. What are your thoughts about that? And also, have you ever tried moonflower? They are huge! But they open at night. And are white. So they like glow in the moonlight. They remind me so much or morning glory. I use to plant them together. Thanks

I do grow 3 kinds morning glories, sweet potato, water spinach, which we can cook with), and a cypress vine(that is covered in buds with I think bubblegum pink flowers). All 3 are very vigorous because I live in a tropical climate, winter here is either very rainy or very dry with no snow at all, and it's very HOT. I do deal with Littlebell(Ipomoea Triloba), which is a weedy morning glory. Pretty purple flowers, but it's pretty annoying because I had to pull it on a neighboring property, and at least it came out like a carpet when I pulled it out.

Hey Robbie, I have seeds for the light blue variety that you planted and also the Moonglow. I may have missed my zone's planting window. I don't think I have anything to let them grow on - the fence belongs to my neighbor, but we don't have a sharing relationship. I am considering planting it under a schefflera tree just to experiment. I have nothing to lose by trying it and beautiful vines to enjoy if it works. Happy gardening.

This is my first year growing morning glories! I got a packet of mixed, now I want to save some of the midnight purple seeds. Although the pink, white, and violet are pretty, too. They are growing up a grape vine that some early tenant here planted and it is September and they are coming out the top of the vine, they are BURSTING out of the top and look fabulous. I have a lot seeds left, though one neighbor wants to grow some of her own next spring. My question: which are the largest breed of morning glory flower? Of any color? Very informative video, thank you!

I inherited a trumpet vine, cultivated it over ten years until it became an arbor. I was advised to remove it when it was still small. It was stunning and the hummingbirds were gorgeous every year. Then it outgrew the space so I had to remove it. That was six years ago. I dug deep so many times (!), every year, thinking if I removed the roots it would eventually go away. It’s spring and the babies are still coming up. Ugh.

Unfortunately, those seeds that you're trying to plant are as invasive as the type of morning glory you talked about. As you mentioned, morning glories seed aggressively. Birds, rats, cats, etc spreads the seeds out of people's backyards, unfornately, no one pulls them "easily" in nature where they thrive and are chocking out natives that are already endangered. Please think twice about planting this and PLEASE don't encourage more people to do the same.
