i make 39k as a paramedic. EMS is not a job worth getting if you're seeking a high salary. its non existent
Yes we are, VERY underpaid despite having to constantly justify our existence
Are you serious only $40,000 a year for the fire department that saves everyone’s lives and put their lives on the risk every day that they might not come home and all they get is stinking low $40,000 a year that’s crazy. The fire department definitely deserves more like probably $1 million per year because they are putting their lives at risk every single day just to save our lives. God bless the fire department and our EMS fire department ambulances
120k plus in cali
Why is it that actors make millions and the people like cops, firefighters, military personnel, farmers, and the over all staples of our lives and safety make so little?? It’s frankly ridiculous
That’s how you know you’re not in California. Firefighters here make a minimum of 70-77k and top out at 130 depending on rank. Unless you’re a chief it can get up to 160-200k
Seriously underpaid. That's $71k Australian. Here they'd make US$66k. Police and paramedics here earn US$75k or more. Some paramedics are making US$125k a year.
Firefighters are making about 72 K a year 2024
Im a Wildland firefighter lol pay is shit compared to the work we do lol
Lol I start the fire academy tomorrow and Ill already make more than that even during training
NYC is 130k
They make at least 100000$ a year where I'm from...
Used to be my dream job, I got so far and passed all the test. Until the cities act like it’s a privilege to be apart of the department. They denied me because I had a case I was fighting in court because i was scammed. I won the case but at that point they’ve already killed my dream profession. I moved on and found easier work and more money working for a metal production company. The starting salary for a firefighter was 50k and i made 65k at the job im at now stress free with me mot risking my life in any way. Through that experience i learned that not everything is worth it, even when the majority thinks it is.
I would say thats a healthy way to look at it, I’m a 1 year FF and would say it’s still my dream job but dealing with certain co workers can be the worst part of the job, paying your dues is part of the job but the harassment you are subjected to by some miserable co workers is enough to make you want to consider other more lucrative options
@@evan4195
What type of harassment do other firemen do? And for what reasons? Do they give you attitude over small shit?
Depends, at OFD he'd be making 80k a year to work once every 72 hours, not a bad take
I’m married to a firefighter, he makes over $200k. I guess depends where you live
$40k a year? Jesus Christ brother! Must be back east. Come out west and make some real $$$$. Best job in the world!
Lmfaooo good job man I respect your service for the community but I make more money doing Security 🤦🏽♂️🙏🏽
Firefighters on the west coast make anywhere from 60-120k a year. The east coast and Midwest just ain’t it if you wanna make money. Colorado is the exception to the Midwest though, if you count it.
If he becomes a paramedic he can increase his salary an extra 60k on top of the 47k
Everyone needs to know where you live has drastically different pay scales for being a FF.
All depends on where you live. 40k-100k+
He doesn’t look the part I’ll be honest
Your right he did at the start you only need to pass the physical test at the start firefighters are supposed to train regularly but the job and life style is very unhealthy they work 3 days straight (72 hour shifts) the number one killer of firefighters isn’t actually fire it’s cardiac events(heart attacks and the like) due to being out of shape 😞
Muscles will carry your self and your tools to the fire But your Smarts, Self sacrifice, bravery, and determination to run into that building for a stranger while knowing, thinking and accepting that this could very well be it...that's something else. You can't go to the gym and train for that. Is it helpful though? Absolutely.
But remember the cops in the same city make triple that or else they can’t do there job cause “officer safety” and police unions
