I my opinion, that's something ZUN did to put Keiki in the next fighter I mean, it just feels like something that would fit nicely in the fighters' style of danmaku (I wanna say it's because of the art style but that doesn't sound all that right) Lil' Edit: Especially in the higher difficulties, with how they get even more big stars added to the tail

Y'know, I really like Keiki's design. She manages to be a badass while wearing an apron and holding sculpting tools. Oh and why she's a sculpting god? She, and I quote, "Is based on Haniyasu no kami, an obscure god from the Kojiki born from Izanami's excrement whose name can be translated as 'god who kneads clay'". And I love the fact that our heroines are thrown in the middle of this political dispute solely because without flesh an blood humans the spirits would be defeated completely (since haniwa are purely physical beings with no souls, so anything the spirits throw at them is useless). As for her fight, I quite like her non-spells, since they are really pretty. Her first card is quite simple but I can't consistently cap it for some reason. Her Circle card is static on the first part (you can safely evade it to the far side of it) while the second part is aimed at you, so you can misdirect it and finish her off before she starts it again. The laser card sometimes bamboozles me depending on where Keiki moves to, but it's not bad. Haniwa bullshit is still cancer, be Mayumi or Keiki so hard pass on her 4th card. Oni-Shaped Art is really pretty and really fun. GC is hilarious if you play Otter because you can literally shotgun her~ but Idola Diabolus suffers *a lot* from bullet visibility issues with how many spirit items we have on-screen and the fact that some characters just get fucked if they activate roars (i.e ReimuWolf and MarisaEagle) because you can barely see the bullets. Probably one of the best final bosses in the series, in my opinion, though she's one of the easier ones. She does a lot of cool things with your standard bullets, and I love the whole geometric/shape thing she's got going on with her patterns. One of the best music tracks and backgrounds for a final boss, as well! "Idola Diabolus" is pretty ridiculous by the fourth wave though, and the blinding light from roaring mode doesn't help. I end up hitting a bullet before I can dispel it, haha. "Perfect Circle Sculpting Art" is also weirdly tough for me compared to her relatively easy other spells. I still haven't beaten the extra stage; will watch your video for tips if I haven't beaten it by the time it's out!
It was here that I started to be apprehensive of the Eagle spirit, that dialogue at 3:54, and later during the Extra stage really made it shadier in intent compared to the other two. And hence why I never really played using the Eagle spirit option now. I remember me being rather torn on whether to side with Keiki or the beast spirits when the story was being translated, with my bias being towards the spirits doing what's best to maintain status of power and relative peace in the Animal Realm. While most as expected siding with Keiki, saying she's like Byakuren, a savior to the oppressed human spirits in the Primate Gardens, with the heroine practically being manipulated into the war by the spirits. While ignoring the fact that Keiki ended up enslaving them instead, even if unintentionally. And her final spellcard, Idola Diabolus, meaning "the Devil's Idols" despite her calling herself Idola Deus "the God's Idols" earlier. Being double-faced there I've typed out loooong discussions on other videos relating to Keiki about this, though in the end I believe Marisa and the rest are just doing what they can to defend Gensokyo and resolve whatever incident and shoot down any obstacles in their way. Like how they did during LoLK and in part, HSiFS.
Ironically enough, out of the three spirits the eagles end up being the nicest, or at least the most amicable of them when all is said and done (an irony that would be very "ZUN-like" to see happen considering their boss, Toutetsu would theoretically be a Taotie, one of the four evil creatures of the world from Chinese mythology). But out of the nine endings in the game, the Eagle spirits were the only ones to really show thanks for what the MC did for them and go "Hey, we're sorry for dragging you into this, if there's anything we can do to repay you as thanks, we'll do anything" and straight up insisted they do something for Reimu to show how thankful they were towards her. The other eight endings would have the MC end up chatting with Yachie, Mayumi or Keiki (or Yuyuko or Eiki in Youmu's case) and basically just getting more information on what the heck just happened. And yeah, Byakuren she is _not_, if anything Kanako would be a more apt comparison (up to and including almost mirroring Sanae's reactions in MoF, Keiki too was completely dumbfounded that the entirety of the beast realm didn't want to live under her divine control). A really important difference is that Keiki didn't do any salvation for the human spirits. Rather, while yes strong contenders like Yachie did use the human spirits like slaves, Keiki didn't free them, they just now serve _her_ now instead.
@@MegamanOmega184 Interesting, I guess the translators streamlined and rephrased the endings for the most latest patch release. Copy pasting from a comment I made on a different video: "I like how when the Theme of Eastern Wonderland started playing, the entire song was forced to follow its key signature for almost the rest of the song (I think from B major to F major/B-flat major scale, sorry, not an expert in this thing). I do feel it's like an allegory on how the heroine is putting up a fight against the presiding god and putting the latter on the former's level, a clash of ideals between Gensokyo and the Animal Realm." A.k.a. it serving as a counter to the main melody, representing Marisa and Gensokyo in general. EDIT: Seems like the musical scale I mentioned were wrong, It's G to A-minor scale. Or something
Might mention with how you dodged Perfect Circle Sculpting Art was probably the least optimal way to have dodged it. The circles themselves aim for where your characters current position is so the generally better strat would be to circle around Keiki to get the circles separated enough to where you don't have to be so intense with dodging. Other than that, really appreciate lets plays of these games! Maybe a bit more study in the games might be worthwhile especially since it hasn't been too long since this game came out but I'm totally down for showing the game in this format.
Note: I'm probably very wrong in these anylises, but oh well, I like to think these things 8:20 - Circular Shape "Perfect Circle Sculpting Art" First of all, I can't not think of Everlasting Purity when I see this, period. Actual analysis now. See how all bullets go out and then return, to then do the same thing again and again? None of them despawn, they can't get erased. They're there 'till the spell ends. So this spell could demonstrate that Keiki, being the prodigy sculptor that she is, doesn't waste A SINGLE SPEC OF CLAY while creating her stuffs and things. 9:39 - Haniwa "Horse-and-Rider Idol Sculpting Art" So, if what the editor (was it the editor, I don't remeber ^-^') suggested last Stage is true, that Mayumi also makes haniwas for the army and all. See this: Keiki's horses fire arrow bullets that go in a perfect curved line, while Mayumi's horses fire arrowHEADS that go in a shakey curved line. It, once again, shows how good Keiki is, her horses are the pinacle of perfection (exagerated a bit~ lol), while Mayumi's get the job done (a bit too well, if ya ask me ಠ_ಠ) but the quality is inferior, even if slightly, to those of Keiki's Again, I don't know if that's right, but eh, it's fun to think about
0:48 - Oh snap! Deathbomb! Feels so nice~ Especially when your laptop's keyboard can't handle 5 inputs at once, so if you're moving diagonally while focused no D-Bombs for you, sucka'! (Yes, I'm salty at my laptop, sue me lol) 1:04 - Yeah... Just do it in practice if you want the achievment, it's so bad... 1:37 - *looks at spirit bar* "A'ight, mah OCD's been satisfied" 5:28 - I love how these names can just come out ultra-extravagant "Idola! DEUS!" or "Idola! DIABOLOUS!". Am I the only one who does that? Yeah? Oh... Ookie then... 5:54 - 'Nother thing I love is Youmu's dialogue, "Wishy washy FOOL!" gaah, that gets me everytime~ 9:21 - Not so much here, but on Hard: "WHO THE FUCK GAVE PERMISSION TO TURN INTO JUNKO?!?! I HAD JUST GOTTEN PAST ALL THE TRAUMA DAMMIT ALL!!!" 11:18 - Well, shoot... That's why it's so god damn _hard_ to do this on Hard... She adds a second, more tight, wave with a hint of added randomness to the spell... 11:46 - This spell is a JOKE when you play with the Otter, I love it!
You know, The Song, Entrusting this World to the Idols ~ Idolatrize World had some fainting tune of Infinite being, Which is Shinki Theme, Actually, It's just that Touhou 17 was a big reference to Mystic Square, With The Event when Primate Garden was destroyed similar to Shinki creation.
Please do not attempt to dodge the second spell like that... The first phase is static, hang out in a corner so you have minimal bullets to dodge. Second phase has the circles move to your position, so misdirect them around the screen. Yes it takes longer to kill but I daresay that's better than dying to it twice :P Geometric Creature on Lunatic is by far the hardest spell in the game, with an incredibly tight micrododge required every other wave. This is despite the spell being completely a completed static aimed pattern.
7:20 Rhythm shall go Off-Sync now >:D 8:24 Why didn't you BOOOOOOMB! That was so "almost" hopeless to avoid Dx 9:14 That power could easily backfire with anyone's vision :/ 10:30 Quite the hard situation you manage to get out of O_o 10:45 Oi, what happens from now on Is pretty cool stuff :0 12:34 And that explains why you barely bomb :v
If ya want a tip to the circle one,in the first part just go to the bottom left/right,theres a safe spot there. and for the second,go spinning around her.
8:23 For the circle spell on normal I find going to the down right or down left easier during the first part, then once she "regains" her bullets and start sending them at you at 8:33 just moving in a circle from for exemple down left top top left, top right, down right an easy way to deal with it but maybe that's cheating
To get the token from the midboss you actually just need to beat the midboss a second or two after you do a roar break. You don't have to finish it off with it's damage, I'm pretty sure that would actually be impossible.
For Circular Creature, you want to get into one of the bottom corners when the first wave is fully extended. I can see how the last two cards are thematic in the storyline, but that doesn't excuse the terrible design. Okina's final cards were all hard, but they were fun to attempt; Idola Diabolus is just a complete mess. Which is weird considering Keiki is an artist.
It's explained in Yachie's profile in the omakes. Basically, Beast Realm is a separate world altogether from Human Realm and Hell. There, animal spirits constantly fight in the survival of the fittest way. There are four major groups ruling the realm: the Keiga family, led by the extra stage boss and represented by the wolf; the Kiketsu family, led by Yachie (stage 4 boss) and represented by the otter; the Gouyoku Alliance, led by someone called Toutetsu (not appearing in this game) and represented by the eagle; and a fourth, unnamed group also lead by an unnamed leader. Among all these, there exist the weakest of the spirits, the Human Spirits, the titular Weakest Creature. They're basically the slaves of the other animal spirits. One day, they managed to summon a god to help with their predicaments, which is Keiki. She crafted the haniwa idols to defend the humans. Obviously the animals are not happy. However, because the animal spirits are purely spiritual, they can't do anything to the physical idols. As for the human spirits themselves, it's said that they're just as oppressed under Keiki's rule, but the actual situation is left ambiguous. So, Yachie crafted a plan to trick a flesh-and-blood human from the Human World to defeat Keiki and the haniwa army, that is, you. The entire Hell part was a red herring, because apparently you can't go from Beast World directly to Human World and need to pass through Hell.
Ahh yes. The first touhou game I managed to beat (with continues because i was pretty new to touhou) and although I was doing a blind run, I managed to beat her without loosing many lives. Tbh I lost more to Mayumi than Keiki .d I tried to 1cc it the other day and i did. Funny thing is, I was playing on easy but I still unlocked extra stage somehow? Is this a glitch or is it because I still had lives and spells?
Yes and yes. Though it's important to realize there's nothing really "divine" or "god-like" about being the "Goddess of Hell". Rather the way hell works is essentially whoever ends up being the current strongest person in hell is now the god or goddess of hell. So you can end up looking however you want, so long as you have the strength to get you there.
Uhhh, to be honest? I really don't like the story of this game Most of the other Touhou games have pretty straightforward stories. There's an incident, keep fighting until you beat the incident instigator, whether from the final boss or the extra boss For this game however, I don't get it, who is the enemy? Or more specifically, who is the bad guy? I really don't get it, is it the beast spirits? Is it Keiki? I don't get it For the game itself? Bullet visibility sucks

@@gypsysprite4824 For Touhou 17 what I mean is your own shots make the enemy bullets really hard to see, especially if you go beast mode (except otter) In Mystic Square yeah making blue bullets in a blue background is a crappy idea but Yuki and Mai aren't that bad at least For both of Alice's purple phases it's honestly just streaming with random bullets, simple enough, but the first one is very slow so with enough experience it becomes trivial, though there is an annoying bug that when you beat that phase while the lasers are setting up the lasers just spaz out everywhere. The second one is her most difficult attack for me honestly, everything moves much faster and the lasers can snipe you and block your path with ease

Eiki and Eirin also has it iirc. I can understand Eiki having it but dunno about Eirin and Keiki
@@shirukutsuki3983 i don't remember Eiki's theme having it?
@@gypsysprite4824 it might be my imagination, but the beggining of the theme sounds like it
@@shirukutsuki3983 it similar at first but Eiki's theme is very much different if you compare the two
Copy pasting from a comment I made on a different video:
"I like how when the Theme of Eastern Wonderland started playing, the entire song was forced to follow its key signature for almost the rest of the song (I think from B major to F major/B-flat major scale, sorry, not an expert in this thing). I do feel it's like an allegory on how the heroine is putting up a fight against the presiding god and putting the latter on the former's level, a clash of ideals between Gensokyo and the Animal Realm."
A.k.a. it serving as a counter to the main melody, representing Marisa and Gensokyo in general.
7:26 "let's Love Live up in this bitch" I'MCRYING 😭😭😭
We’re achieving levels of hype previously thought unattainable
To be frank, I also like birds
This fight becomes quite easy when you get her patterns, you can say it is a PIECE OF KEIKI (If the editor doesn't do it, I do for him)
Note: I'm probably very wrong in these anylises, but oh well, I like to think these things
8:20 - Circular Shape "Perfect Circle Sculpting Art"
First of all, I can't not think of Everlasting Purity when I see this, period.
9:39 - Haniwa "Horse-and-Rider Idol Sculpting Art"
So, if what the editor (was it the editor, I don't remeber ^-^') suggested last Stage is true, that Mayumi also makes haniwas for the army and all. See this: Keiki's horses fire arrow bullets that go in a perfect curved line, while Mayumi's horses fire arrowHEADS that go in a shakey curved line. It, once again, shows how good Keiki is, her horses are the pinacle of perfection (exagerated a bit~ lol), while Mayumi's get the job done (a bit too well, if ya ask me ಠ_ಠ) but the quality is inferior, even if slightly, to those of Keiki's
Again, I don't know if that's right, but eh, it's fun to think about
0:48 - Oh snap! Deathbomb! Feels so nice~ Especially when your laptop's keyboard can't handle 5 inputs at once, so if you're moving diagonally while focused no D-Bombs for you, sucka'! (Yes, I'm salty at my laptop, sue me lol)
1:04 - Yeah... Just do it in practice if you want the achievment, it's so bad...
1:37 - *looks at spirit bar* "A'ight, mah OCD's been satisfied"
5:28 - I love how these names can just come out ultra-extravagant "Idola! DEUS!" or "Idola! DIABOLOUS!". Am I the only one who does that? Yeah? Oh... Ookie then...
5:54 - 'Nother thing I love is Youmu's dialogue, "Wishy washy FOOL!" gaah, that gets me everytime~
9:21 - Not so much here, but on Hard: "WHO THE FUCK GAVE PERMISSION TO TURN INTO JUNKO?!?! I HAD JUST GOTTEN PAST ALL THE TRAUMA DAMMIT ALL!!!"
11:18 - Well, shoot... That's why it's so god damn _hard_ to do this on Hard... She adds a second, more tight, wave with a hint of added randomness to the spell...
11:46 - This spell is a JOKE when you play with the Otter, I love it!
6:45 Damn it, Okina and then Keiki now wants Marisa ?
Funny how ironic that a place called the “PRIMATE GARDEN” is also the most cyberspace-looking place in Touhou.
@Tayebz Tayebz :3
O_O okay
@Tayebz Tayebz :3
Yep
Please do not attempt to dodge the second spell like that...
The first phase is static, hang out in a corner so you have minimal bullets to dodge. Second phase has the circles move to your position, so misdirect them around the screen. Yes it takes longer to kill but I daresay that's better than dying to it twice :P
Geometric Creature on Lunatic is by far the hardest spell in the game, with an incredibly tight micrododge required every other wave. This is despite the spell being completely a completed static aimed pattern.
Say, I am just very nice but marisa should not have messed with the beast spirit.
7:20 Rhythm shall go Off-Sync now >:D
8:24 Why didn't you BOOOOOOMB! That was so "almost" hopeless to avoid Dx
9:14 That power could easily backfire with anyone's vision :/
10:30 Quite the hard situation you manage to get out of O_o
10:45 Oi, what happens from now on Is pretty cool stuff :0
12:34 And that explains why you barely bomb :v
For me Keiki = Okina Nitori
So now, welcome to my town
The least you could do is listen to what have to say
"gouyoku alliance my ass"
"H-how could you"
The last words during the credits is like actually blaming you for all the bad stuff happening.
If ya want a tip to the circle one,in the first part just go to the bottom left/right,theres a safe spot there.
and for the second,go spinning around her.
8:23 For the circle spell on normal I find going to the down right or down left easier during the first part,
then once she "regains" her bullets and start sending them at you at 8:33 just moving in a circle from for exemple down left top top left, top right, down right an easy way to deal with it but maybe that's cheating
I really love this stage. Again it's not really the hardest final stage in all of Touhou even.... BUT IT SURE *FEELS* LIKE IT
10:47 the dancy dances!!
Not gonna lie , marisa’s and youmu’s attack during eagle roaring mode hurting my eyes.
Keiki: I will you the most finest idol
Me: LADY I DON'T WANT WHATEVER CRAP YOU'RE SELLING
P.S. my gosh is Keiki a tough cookie to crack
Final Spell, simple but toughest from keiki
Did you guys know that the protagonist is the one being chased
To be frank, i like birds.....
Zun wtf
2:59 Gotta agree with her. I cannot picture Haniyasushin with Kratos :u
Theme of Eastern Story (Touhou Main Theme) at 8:30
To get the token from the midboss you actually just need to beat the midboss a second or two after you do a roar break. You don't have to finish it off with it's damage, I'm pretty sure that would actually be impossible.
7:42 Suddenly Erich.
...this...kinda reminds me of the dynamics of clashing split personalities.
The fact that my autocorrect tool changes keiki to cake is funny
2:18 my aunt!
Stage 6 is basically a touhou version of the death star
Grace: STONKS
It is justifiable that the animal spirits are afraid of her sculpting arts. She literally uses them to fight
I betcha the horse haniwav would be easier to aquire as an otter... or at least roaring like one.
Like how at 3:30 you are bopping to the music with your arrow keys. Haha
*MEXICAN JUNKO IS HERE*
2:46 Or a door... or a Stove xD
I’m still confused about the plot. First I thought it was “Animal Fwiends :3”, then “Mafia Wars”, and now “Yet another God revolution”
SHT J thank you so much. I understand a lot better now
I click for the epic Eagle hyper Marisa
It's a good thing you deathbombed. Otherwise, your 1cc would've been ruined.
Ahh yes. The first touhou game I managed to beat (with continues because i was pretty new to touhou) and although I was doing a blind run, I managed to beat her without loosing many lives. Tbh I lost more to Mayumi than Keiki .d
I tried to 1cc it the other day and i did. Funny thing is, I was playing on easy but I still unlocked extra stage somehow? Is this a glitch or is it because I still had lives and spells?
Is hectia the goddess of hell because she looks like/act like a teenager
Yes and yes. Though it's important to realize there's nothing really "divine" or "god-like" about being the "Goddess of Hell". Rather the way hell works is essentially whoever ends up being the current strongest person in hell is now the god or goddess of hell. So you can end up looking however you want, so long as you have the strength to get you there.
How wrong some of the advice you give for dealing with the bullet patterns are...
This is so unbelievably badly played yet presented as "advice" smh.
Keiki did nothing wrong
Uhhh, to be honest? I really don't like the story of this game
Most of the other Touhou games have pretty straightforward stories. There's an incident, keep fighting until you beat the incident instigator, whether from the final boss or the extra boss
For this game however, I don't get it, who is the enemy? Or more specifically, who is the bad guy? I really don't get it, is it the beast spirits? Is it Keiki? I don't get it
For the game itself? Bullet visibility sucks
...atleast it isn't Mystic Square tier?
(seriously, i've never played MS and i can agree, fuck touhou 5 stage 4 and that triple layering of Purple EX!Alice has on a couple of her phases)
@@gypsysprite4824 Really? Stage 4 really isn't that bad if it's not your first try
But Alice's purple phase 2nd attack is just vicious, and her final attack is no slouch either
@@akenohononiku916 mean, the light blue on blue+white you'd think would be bad (and i've seen several descriptions on videos mention the shit bullet visibility. atleast Yuki and Mai change the background to a rally good one for fighting
also from what i've seen, the biggest worry with alice's purple phases (or atleast the...i think first one?) is that the lazers going diagonally have janky as fuck hitboxes
@@gypsysprite4824 For Touhou 17 what I mean is your own shots make the enemy bullets really hard to see, especially if you go beast mode (except otter)
In Mystic Square yeah making blue bullets in a blue background is a crappy idea but Yuki and Mai aren't that bad at least
For both of Alice's purple phases it's honestly just streaming with random bullets, simple enough, but the first one is very slow so with enough experience it becomes trivial, though there is an annoying bug that when you beat that phase while the lasers are setting up the lasers just spaz out everywhere. The second one is her most difficult attack for me honestly, everything moves much faster and the lasers can snipe you and block your path with ease
@@akenohononiku916 he made a great improvement on the story. If the stories have you thinking deeper into it to understand, it is a good one
