Deutz Fahr 215 TTV Tractor running Pottinger Triple Mowers in Indiana

- In this video I am in out in the field with a farm near Milford Indiana that is mowing second crop alfalfa that will be chopped for silage (haylage) They are using their Deutz Fahr 6215 TTV tractor with Potting triple mowers mowing a 37 foot swath per pass.

Ran two back in the UK in the 1980s. Most reliable tractors I have owned in my farming life.

German guy here, i am proud of you pronouncing Deutz just the right way. But i have to admit, i was a bit surprised, that you guys are running Deutz tractors over in the us. Keep on doing what you're doing, love your videos.
He is not hanging about cutting that field. Yesterday our contractor was in with His Fendt and triple Krone mower he cut 30 acres and was gone before I knew it. These machines are getting so quick. All the best from Scotland 🏴.
In a round about way Mike now works with Lamborghini. That's pretty cool
Great setup. We used Pöttinger equipment at home for silage some 40 odd years ago in the Netherlands with Fendt and Steyr tractors, great stuff even back in the day.

I think they make some really sharp looking tractors nowdays. Glad you got this one.
Mowing hay was probably my favorite job when I was young. Of course we did not have a nice setup like that (I think we could only mow about 12 feet at a time) Based on the size of those fields, It would have taken me a week to mow that big field. Hey congratulations on the move. Versatile is losing a great rep, but I guess Deutz will be thrilled when they have you aboard. Many thanks for your videos.

Deutz is one of the under-represented brands in my area (western NY). If it's not jd green, cih red, or to a lesser extent, nh blue, you just don't see it. Have to wonder sometimes if there isn't some collusion on their part. Congrats on the new job. Versatile probably doesn't yet realize that they will miss you.

Hey Mike, just wanna wish you the very best of luck on your new job adventures. And one thing I can say about Deutz Fahr, as they are now. You get a heck of a lot of tractor for your money.
When I saw this the only dealer I knew of was in Wakarusa, hope I spelled it right. This used to be a pretty strong Deutz area. I know of one guy still running those old tractors. Get that dealer network built up and they will move them. Think some are shy about them not staying in the states.
You know Mike, I worked for a test boring company back in the *0s and we had a couple Diedrich rigs with Duetz three cylinder engines and they were good little motors never had any trouble with them, they would start in cold weather when others wouldn't. And also, they were air cooled, I also know where there is a big V engine Duetz, I forgot the cylinder count, but it is in a big ferry in Connecticut, it replaced I think was an Alco engine if I remember correctly and congrats on the new job. Double D.

Congrats on the successful job transition Mike. I feel like Deutz Fahr doesn't get the rep it should because its not American and not popular for that reason here in the states. I'm sure thats not the only reason its underappreciated in the states but its up there on my list of tractor brands.
Okay, this is uncanny. I'm playing Farming Sim right now and literally right as I started mowing my grass fields this notifcation popped up. I'm writing this as I let the helper do all the work XD.
I'm using a Case Optum 300 with Vicon Extra mowers with inbuilt mergers, the JD 9700i is on Standby ready for collecting the swaths for silage. No Deutz on my farm, going for a more American style farm, lots of Case where possible, otherwise JD.
I love the look of Deutz tractors. Alongside the big Fendts about the best looking tractors out there, honorable mention goes to the JD 8RX with saddle tanks. XD
I won’t lie Mike it will be odd not seeing you promote Versatile, I caught onto your channel because of those tractors. Nobody says much about them and I think you’ll do a great job promoting Duetz. Another great video can’t wait to see more of these green machines!
My Dad almost bought a Deutz DX140 back in the day.
Wow - the hell freezes over - Farmhand Mike left Versatile..thats a bomb ;-) I think for Versatile, things get really hard due to belonging to the (Russian) Rostselmash Group, maybe a good decision leaving the company. Here in Germany, Deutz were known especially for their air cooled engines which was also in other machines like excavators and so on. They were very fuel efficient and reliable.

Whaaat ? ! Mike, you didn't , did you? thought there was something in the air when I started viewing B4 u said it .. Oh well , I have a bloomin watercooled deutz too - lament the Aircooled ones - so Eco friendly ran on " 1/2 the diesl of a Deere " at the time. Huh, now it's twice as much as my Mercedes Unimog to do t he same job. So are you going to give us the Lo-down on SDF and Pottinger sincee the old Fahr machines seemed to have disappeared into the Ether ?

Congrats on the new job Mike, does that mean the versitile intro reel will be going in the dumpster where in belongs as nobody who watches your channel does not skip over it missing some of todays content whatever it is.
Was there any particular reason Duetz abandoned air cooled engines? They were simple and efficient.
I think with air cooled you can't regulate engine temperature like a liquid cooled engine can with a thermostat. I believe with all of the emission regulations they had no choice. I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure someone told me this years ago.
It was because of EU noise regulations

Here in Northeast Georgia (Athens area) we had a Deutz dealer back in the 60's and 70's and he sold 100's of them. They were the old air cooled models and had a great reputation for reliability. So when the new dealer got started here a few years ago he already had a well conditioned market and they are selling them like crazy around here again.

I think you're confusing what he was talking about. You're talking about where pottinger was founded Austria and Mike was talking about the new distributer he works for who also does distribution in Australia. (I believe, if I heard correctly in the video)
