  • Hey friends, in this episode I take a solo road trip from Adelaide into Victoria. Nigel will be away for a couple of weeks, so I hope you enjoy this glimpse into what my life is like, living the solo female van life.
    I visit Coonalpyn and stay in the free camp there, and I also stay at free camps in Dimboola and Ararat.

    Another great video Sue. Well done road tripping on your own. Hubby and I don't like driving more than 3 hours a day either. If I was on my own, I reckon I'd be lucky to even manage that! Looking forward to your chat about solo tripping next week 🙂

    Go Sue! Great vlog. We stumbled across a little place in Victoria called Murtoa on our travels around Australia and found The Stick Shed. Amazing place it was. It's probably too late for you to visit, but maybe next time. See ya 😊

    Need a GoPro for the view through the window shots as the iPhone didn’t stabilise the video. I’ve realised from our videos that we need microphones if we are going to talk whilst driving along. Nevertheless, it was enjoyable to watch and very interesting. You seem really relaxed when talking to the camera, considering that your audience aren’t there at the time. It makes us feel really involved.

    • @nigelandsueadventures
      @nigelandsueadventures  11 місяців тому

      Yeah it’s an old iPhone. I’ll switch it up and use the GoPro next time. Do you use a lapel mic?

      @@nigelandsueadventures well, we just decided we need mics when I was editing a video from our trip earlier this year. I’ve bought the DJI wireless mics which can record directly, they don’t need to be set up connected to a camera, though that’s the main purpose. We’ve yet to see if it works in practice, we’re not serious UA-camrs. For this video we’ve decided to speed up the driving bits with music backing and just use the clips where Stephen walks around with the GoPro.

      I use the a cheap Lavalier plug in with a cord for the go pros from E bay about $25.00 , anything is better than the built in mic , for the phone I have just upgraded to a Saramonic SmartMic Mini Condenser Flexible Microphone For Smartphone, that plugs into USB C on my samsung S23 , it sounds great and I get good sound from 4-5 meters away .@@nigelandsueadventures

    Hi Sue, that's what caught my eye's was the artwork on the silos, I hope they stay forever, it would be cool if one of those kids came back years later to say that was him or her and about time Victoria welcome sign got an upgrade considering its the state border, just wondering if you get a lil scared at night? being on your own out there, anyway you stay safe and thank you 😁👍🏻

    • @nigelandsueadventures
      @nigelandsueadventures  11 місяців тому

      That’s would be so cool wouldn’t it? If those kids all got together and had their photo taken in front of the silo.
      Regarding whether I get scared, I actually address that question in next weeks video… hehe you’ll have to stay tuned!

    Jealous of all the free camps. We don't have those for the most part except in parking lots. I think the issue i would have with solo van travel is the lack of someone to talk to. Enjoy until Nigel is back.

      Thanks Roberta. That’s funny we often say we wish we could park up places like Walmart like you can in the US. And you have BLM land for camping too. We are grateful for the small towns that are RV friendly.

      @@nigelandsueadventures BLM land is only out west. I looked and the closest spots are at least a 10 hour drive from where we are in Minnesota. So while they are great they only exist in about 1/3 of the lower 48. Welcome back to Nigel!

      There were definitely dogs by the lake at Ararat. The others I’m not sure. Do you have the WikiCamps app? That tells you whether a campsite is dog friendly. What sort of dog do you have?
