The analogy my be a bit crude but in the musical sense the Beatles were all freaks of nature, they had no boundaries, their talent unlimited, a once in a lifetime group. We will never see the likes of the Beatles again.
That's the beauty of this band. My mom which is 63 yrs old love them, I love them and my 8 yrs old daughter loves them. You got to be lucky to see them live.
What wonderful lyrics could be anyones lovestory my husband sat on a beach with John lennon once in the late 50's although he did not know who he was then a moment he wil never forget. John strumming away, a bonfire a beer and a guitar
Such an incredibly mature and "grown-up" song that was amazingly written by such a young guy. 300 years from now and beyond.......people will still be listening to Beatles' music.
Beatles had a magic that came from their look, music, and lots of live experience--they paid their dues for years before fame hit--all bands should study them and learn from them
I love these old clips. Seeing the ladies screaming and all. These guys could write a song that sounds like a country song out of the appalachian mountains then turn around and do Chuck Berry. Just pure talant.
Then they bridge into a great version of Roll Over Beethoven. The first time I heard The Beatles was in 1964 when I heard the record on breakfast radio. I was amazed by it . It was something completely new and great.
I was one of those screaming girl! I was ll yrs old when the Beatles came to America. I cried when I saw them and wanted to run to England to marry Paul. I lived the magic of Beatlemania. it was awesome beyond comprehension. But still this kind of songs, and liricks are really what we need and missing today Like this..after all thay r the beatles the best lirick s band in the world!!! I was lucky enough to attend this concert when I was a little girl. My parents were Beatles fans and took me and my little brother. So cool You could barely hear the Beatles due to all the screaming.
The Beatles operated with, today, what would be considered very primitive technology, but, what the heck, that didn't stop them having the greatest stage presence of all time, to see them performing live in front of your eyes was something that swept you away, overloading the senses...
ha! I don't know dude, Elvis was pretty good himself. in fact I don't think any individual performer comes within a mile of the stage presence of the young Elvis Presley. he was electic. he didn't write his own material like the Beatles, but he didn't have to. his interpretations were so powerful and individualistic they took on a life of their own.
Elvis is regarded as the king, and a comparison to the Beatles is never really made, they're different acts. What I do know, is that the Beatles never had to stage Beatlemania, but the colonel may have had to encourage some young ladies to go wild for Elvis, in the beginning, to set the example for others to follow...
michael pound considering the time 1954-57 when there was really no technology (stereo recording, LP's, stereo equipment etc;) to add to the impact of his revolutionary stage act and revolutionary look (the hair, clothing) Elvis did amazingly well. Remember also it was totally unorthodox for girls to behave the way that they behaved during Elvis concerts. Girls simply did not scream the way that they did. As to comparing the Beatles to Elvis? there really is no comparison, but I will say this, without Elvis there never would have been the Beatles. Elvis started the nuclear chain reaction that is still in the process of exploding.
michael pound I was lucky enough to see them at Candlestick Park for their last performance there, talk about a teenage girl's dream come true! You could hardly hear them, but it didn't matter, I was seeing them in person. They truly did have a great stage presence. :)
FriendlyRambler ya, I was there as well altho 'that' concert was kind of a disappointment don't ya think? the sound system they had in place at Candlestick was primitive (to say the least). How did you get your tickets? I know that Tom Donahue of radio station KYA was the promoter and promoters, but I forgot how they sold the tickets.
The Beatles were before they,re time period i wish all this was now i was a Beatles fan back in 1964 and i still am today watching all these clips and films brings it all back no one will ever beat what the Beatles did the music opened doors for other bands to follow even today the influence is still there

The chord changes are one of the many things the Beatles brought to modern music for the first time. They did many things for the first time. Guys still are wearing thier hair long in 2009, thanks to the Beatles. I've always been a hard core fan. Thanks for this video, it shows metal chain link fencing style protection around the fronts of them old VOX amps the biys made famous. I've never seen that!! Great Vid.
I've never seen footage before from the Indiana State Fair concert. The concert was nicely recorded in September, 1964 and, like others have mentioned, the concert is commonly available on Yellow Dog CD's. It's nice to see the footage combined with the audio.
Hey there fellow Beatles fans! I've been playing this one on guitar recently and i've also been looking at other great Beatles numbers. They we're the best band in the world and will always be the best band in the world for many people for forever. Long live the spirit of Lennon/McCartney,Harrison and Starr! Peace to all human beings. Remember Love is the flower,Love IS the ANSWER!
I may have only been one year old and in a different country when this performace took place but I was there in spirit with the Lads. Damn they are good.
Yeah, when you're playing live you always play the song faster because you 're scared. the reason they were so great is definitely the harmonies plus the genius of John and Paul together writing,. My great music era was 57-71 and it ended when the beatles ended. strange.
I had never seen this particular song before on U, but if U come across anymore fwd them to me since I play all the Beatles songs and I like to see how they're playing chords. Let me tell you, they are definitely not an easy band to play with since so much is tuned to the piano.
I love how you can actually hear Pauls bass it sounds awsome! Because when Paul plays now the lead guitars and and the drums play over his awsome bass tunes!
As soon as the video started rolling I recognized the Colosseum at the fairgrounds in Indy. I saw many shows there in the 70's but I didn't see The Beatles there, however I arrived at the fairgrounds just after the performance because I did have a 13th row seat for that night at the nearby harness horse racing track where the 2nd Indy performance was set to take place. My seat was as far to the left as possible which meant I was only about 15 feet from a loudspeaker and I could hear every word.
I love this version. Better than the album version. And to all the naysayers who think that the early Beatles weren't a Rock band: listen to that build up and explosion of sound at 1:25 and tell that didn't "rock".
i love this song, it was the B side to a hard days night, i played and played it so much in my local pub, i think the guys thought it was a single. They all knew the words! Great song, and wow thanks for posting, didnt know they sang this live.
Things we said today -> By far on my my best-ever Beatles songs (whenever i decide to TRY at least to choose. Very interesting this live. I also think that the styling is coming back in fashion.. Anyway. lucky were the ones who made their lives back then, unlucky those of us who grew up later.
I didn't know George sang harmonies on this song I thought it was John. Good one George and forget all your bass players Paul is it hands down!! His playing is the best!!
Cool! Love how Lennon's ego's taking a back seat for a change and just getting into the song! Don't get me wrong I'm a huge fan of John, it's just refreshing to see he has enough humility to get into it...whatever the arrangement! BEATLES FOREVER!!!!
This song is so ahead of its time. I like this fast live version better than the original. Paul really connects with his audience when he's performing. This is one timeless beautiful song. Thanks for posting this amazing video :D
The arrangement of this song, with the 2 refrains, the minor/major changes, is just fantastic. One of my favorite songs of all time.
Exactly !
Another of my favorites.
such a gem of a song. seriously. it's so underrated.
I love this live version of "Things We Said Today"...it absolutely rocks! I love it when John Lennon hits those power chords!
I would say only: jolly good
I think it was George hitting the power chords. John played rhythm. They may have traded back and forth 😊😊.
The analogy my be a bit crude but in the musical sense the Beatles were all freaks of nature, they had no boundaries, their talent unlimited, a once in a lifetime group. We will never see the likes of the Beatles again.
Never new George sang harmony/back-up on this. Pretty cool!
The record was Paul double-tracked with himself. For the live shows, George covered the lower part of the refrain.
The Beatles music is remarkable, timeless and will live forever. They were also a great tight live band.
Wow!!😗😄😙
Beatles are unrivaled in songwriting and excitement of their live performances.
I wasn't there, too young, but, my older sisters were, and I remember them being absolutely NUTS about the Beatles!!
how lucky
Such an incredibly mature and "grown-up" song that was amazingly written by such a young guy. 300 years from now and beyond.......people will still be listening to Beatles' music.
The greatest band ever been
That start of roll over Beethoven is awesome!
Anticipated nostalgia from a young man in his early 20's. The lyric always floors me.
Beatles had a magic that came from their look, music, and lots of live experience--they paid their dues for years before fame hit--all bands should study them and learn from them
Love the little 'rockout' Paul McCartney does at 2:06 ,superb :)
Love and miss John and George! R.I.P
and Paul ofc

The Greatest Band In The World !!! * * * * 1959-69
And FOREVER
I just sang along to this word for word! Did not miss ONE~ Listened to this song hundreds of times when I was around 13. Love it still!
Love it, this was always one of my favorite songs, Paul was so romantic even at 22.
Thanks to the wonderful person who captured this Indiana moment for all time....

I was there, 4th row center. I was 9 years old. I can still remember how I felt listening to them.
i wanna go back in time and see them live.
Oh my good .. This is incredible... They are amazing
Great song. Underappreciated. I love when John breaks into the chorus. What a way to change up the mood.
Yes, George and Paul bridging with that phrase, gets me always.....
The Beatles - Forever)
This is my favorite song.
Deep and mysterious.
surely today indie's music industry can grow and got big, the inspiration just came, this song is one of the inspiration, for indie music today.
Tears of joy! The 'bridge' from "Things We Said' has to be about the most EXPLOSIVE bit of rock that God allows humans to do!
they have so many fans!
I want to go back to 60s.
Things we said today's a sound that I hear several times, can not get enough.Nice balance.
I'm so glad - we have those film records
cannot ever, never ever, get enough of this

I loved the Beatles then and I still do…❤
You're watching a rare video of them live in 1964. What are you complaining about?
Fantastic performance of a great song...thank you for posting!
This is GREAT!
Man, I wish I could see this performance live! John Lennon is hilarious. I love how he dances and shouts, "Yeah!" throughout the song.
