Come on man... Devs have arguably the most difficult book every single year. This is still very early season and they sound very good.... come August this line (and corps) will be on fire. Hardest snare and tenor lines to make in the world, hands down. These kids have talent.... respect.
@EvolRogg This is, in my opinion, the hardest thing to do as far as music goes. Being in a band, but further more, being in a drumline. And, thank you for realizing that this isn't just some game. Most people don't realize how difficult this is unless they do it themselves.
@Linewing760 thanks for the input and taking the time to reply. i'm in the market for a dynasty and i really liked BD's white dynasty snares. i wasn't sure if there was a custom finish or not. thanks for the clarification.
It's not just the heads. Dynasty snare drums have been redesigned with Paul Rennick. Changed the bearing edge and vents. They sound really good. I'll bet these are the new snares.
@Chops321 naaa lol, your thinking of quads n cinqs. we dont have those in british bands. over here our tennor drums are like a small bass drum, mounted on its side horizontally infront of the drummer, not verticaly.
Its so crazy seeing Danny playing for BD, I remember when he was a freshmen in High School, and to see that his drumming has evolved him to BD level is awesome.
to anyone that saw them in the lot: were the drums plain white, or did they have a custom finish like phantom had in 2010. i really like the look of white dynasty's with the chrome hardware. thank you in advance for any help anyone can give.
I think it's a matter of opinion honestly. This drumline was decided the best by a few dudes in green shirts first off. Anyone who's ever marched drum corps knows scores don't really mean anything but a dudes opinion. But putting that aside, their quadline is pretty sweet i'd say, but the low end in the snareline could use some work.
high moms if you can't do something very well then you either aren't practicing enough or not correctly high moms are just somethin you got to get used to. it took me a couple of nights to get the muscle memory for them but now i can do pretty much what ever with them lol
BD historically wears shades when warming up during the daylight (which rarely happens). Wear shades when it is sunny... don't wear them when it is dark. Has everything do woth logic, not confidence.
your the one who needs to learn your stuff mate ^^ a tennor drum is practicly a smaller version of a bass drum, a bass drum is a big drum used to keep the beat. and no, by bongo's i mean bongo's . they wear a set of 4 drums that sound like bongo's. and a tennor drum is played with medium sized padded sticks.
Dude. Wrong. You can prove it yourself by watching this vid - then search 1994 vids, 1996 vids, 2001 vids, etc. Not to say the philosophy has changed (since Scott has been there since 93, or maybe 94 can't remember), but you can see noticable differences in every section of the battery.
@Chops321 well there not in an orchesta are they ? so therfor they are being used for the wrong purpose and are a stupid instrament. i made the same spelling mistake because thats how i have been spelling it all the time. and FTR marching bands are an english thing so for you to be telling me that im wrong just doesnt work seeing as we invented marching bands :)
god no kid the tenors are the ones with 4 or more toms with no bottom head and the bass drums are the SIDEWAYS DRUMS! Clear enough for you? that could not get any simpler! i know my drums, and there are no bongos in a battery line! :/
@moefoe1256 even thought that is true, that was that one time, plus, i'm just saying, you don't have any right to say that they are dirty when you can't play their music yourself
idk... bluecoats rival the devils book in terms of how difficult the music is. not to say devils isnt hard, but rudimentally, i would say coats have an even harder book
omg these guys are beastly! this is amazing!
lets go alex and boonie
much respect to thuis drumline!!!
It's like this book was written just for the lot. Great hands. Wish I could've been there.

AMAZING!!!!
Best Tenor Line BD has ever had! Best Ever! 😎😎😎👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
dang these guys are soooo goood
damn those basses cut so nicely! i love bass :D
best line ever!
Cannot wait for this to get cleaned up. Snares sound Sooo much better this year.
It's not just the heads. Dynasty snare drums have been redesigned with Paul Rennick. Changed the bearing edge and vents. They sound really good. I'll bet these are the new snares.
Looks like BD's gonna do just fine in the percussion department, thank ya very much...
im with you dude.well put
That's actually a really sick snare break
I really hope they put commentary on this year's Finals DVD. I'm going to want to listen to it
da rolls r unreal like seriously
what are you talking about??
those snares are excellent!
they sound amazing!
and you may be talking about the bass drums and they sound perfect!
Thats was quite amazing. Tenors are very very very sick. ;P
the snare effect at 1:116 and on...so beast
Holy shit that bass line....
those tenors are intimidating! lol that whole line is badass. great to see another BD drumline back up to the top
Dude, they're REEFED. I played on one of the snares. My hands were tired afterwards (I'm a tenor player so I'm not used to the tension).
Hey yo, the middle snare is one of my teachers
@Chops321 naaa lol, your thinking of quads n cinqs. we dont have those in british bands. over here our tennor drums are like a small bass drum, mounted on its side horizontally infront of the drummer, not verticaly.
They practice about 12 hours a day during the summer. 6 days a week. (maybe more), Not to mention practicing at home. Its quite intense. :)
hey, that was pretty clean:)
=D Gotta love those sock tans!!!!!!
but an amazing core, it would be an awesome experiance to be a part of this core
hellacrap awesome snare sounds
Controle dos taps incrível!!___Control of taps incrive!!
scojo is so awesome.
Truth.
Pearl website and BD website. ScoJo became a pearl official artist too.
Woah, that guys by the tenors looks like what's-his-face who was on tenors in 2006 and whatever years before.
Its so crazy seeing Danny playing for BD, I remember when he was a freshmen in High School, and to see that his drumming has evolved him to BD level is awesome.
BD has historically worn shades in warm-ups. I guess they got away from that in recent years. Nice to see them looking like the Devs here.
to anyone that saw them in the lot: were the drums plain white, or did they have a custom finish like phantom had in 2010. i really like the look of white dynasty's with the chrome hardware. thank you in advance for any help anyone can give.
nice!!
god, those birkenstock...enough already!

what state do blue devils practice
it always seems to be perfect weather when i watch them practice...
high moms
if you can't do something very well then you either aren't practicing enough or not correctly
high moms are just somethin you got to get used to. it took me a couple of nights to get the muscle memory for them but now i can do pretty much what ever with them lol
I just .. dont even know what to say. this is crazy.
BD historically wears shades when warming up during the daylight (which rarely happens). Wear shades when it is sunny... don't wear them when it is dark. Has everything do woth logic, not confidence.
Any one know if any snares are aging out this year? I'm just curious. So gooood.
@MrAc2181 it's not like bd lost only to phantom...they were fourth in percussion this year..
Agreed.
i hate to say it but you could possibly be right, but they've only been gone since 06, that was their age out year.
your the one who needs to learn your stuff mate ^^ a tennor drum is practicly a smaller version of a bass drum, a bass drum is a big drum used to keep the beat. and no, by bongo's i mean bongo's . they wear a set of 4 drums that sound like bongo's. and a tennor drum is played with medium sized padded sticks.
why the fuck are the rolls so effing clean!!?!?!!?!?!
What corps do you like?
Well, your also hear them from the bottom, keep that in mind.
I just realized this was 2009 haha.
he does have a point. being clean should just be a standard for any corps. it shouldnt be impressive to be clean, just expected.
@Papermate123123 they were. Period.
its just the new evans heads. they're doin amazing so far. and im not even a bd fan
@1matlox1 i know right?
LOL snare break is down right beast!!!!
what is modulation?
futuristic reefed beats
One of the best batterys i've ever seen. BD 06 was awesome too.
whoo! 0:47 - 0:56
3 people are Phantom Regiment fans.
are the snares just like cranked? they sound oddly tuned for BD. Kick assness in the line though...sweet writing as well
You said everything over here is "backwards" simply because our drums are different.
@jmc647 they had a marble look on them
they are switching too pearl?!!? since when or better where did you see that at?
I love how the tenors after their solo just throw down their arms like, "we just fucking beasted it, and we know it".
ha come on man this was just their second appearance as a drumline.
Was that center that stop at 1:03??
well i know their captain (chris slater) is aging out. idk about the rest though. i only know that slater is cuz hes my private lesson teacher
guhhh, so much snare response...
haha that was the center too
@ 4:52 second quad from left attacked that drum!!!! lol
core core core core
It's like me criticizing an Olympic figure skaters technique while i can't even skate.
1:03 hahaha, the fucking snare tuning is so sexy,
there snares sound like bongo's or even when you kick a dodgeball, they need different drums.
Dude. Wrong. You can prove it yourself by watching this vid - then search 1994 vids, 1996 vids, 2001 vids, etc. Not to say the philosophy has changed (since Scott has been there since 93, or maybe 94 can't remember), but you can see noticable differences in every section of the battery.

Clear enough for you?
that could not get any simpler!
i know my drums, and there are no bongos in a battery line!
:/
I total agree with that , People who say that they are dirty probably suck and cant play legatos haha
@Papermate123123 cool story, bro
@moefoe1256 even thought that is true, that was that one time, plus, i'm just saying, you don't have any right to say that they are dirty when you can't play their music yourself
ye but there not tennors, there quads or quints. a tennor drum is totaly different
Mmm, I love their highly tuned snares.
@ZXROMEO apparently they did something right cause they won
idk... bluecoats rival the devils book in terms of how difficult the music is. not to say devils isnt hard, but rudimentally, i would say coats have an even harder book
@TheRandomVideoMaker its because he was "dutting".
omg i remember being there!!!
I jizzed in my pants!!!
ah yes, your right, the snare's are fine, its those stupid bongo things, where there's 4 of them
Danny Aiello F*cking rules haha
yeah you're right lol
o0o neutral white this year.
thats funny because they already won with a 99 and winning drums
no at 2:26
Really?? They got 5th in percussion.
Is it true BD is switchin to Pearl drums? I much prefer pearl sound quality to dynasty anyways
