I had the honor of meeting Richie last night at the Iridium in NYC on his second of three nights there. Because this was labeled as a demo and yet sounds like a fully produced track, I asked him about why it wasn't on 50 for 50 considering he has gone back and done alternate versions of some of his earlier songs. He was genuinely surprised and offered a simple answer, "Wow. I forgot about that." and then joked maybe he'll do a 60 for 60 project. The show was awesome, but I couldn't take decent video as we were in front of Dylan and his bass was as strong as ever (damn good player too). That and there was a woman who just kept popping up and dancing (to the point Richie had to acknowledge her at multiple points) that was frequently blocking our view. But this is a great song that I would hope to hear live one day!

I first started listening to this guy's old stuff on UA-cam a few years back. I had heard his name prior to that but didn't know his work. I can't understand how such a great guitar player and on top of that a singer who sounds so close to Chris Cornell can't get the recognition he deserves. I know he's had a career in the business but he should be so much bigger based on his talent.

I thought this WAS some sort of Cornell side project until I got to this comment.

@@therichkern Richie's only really big brush with fame was the as the guitarist of the 80s hair metal band Poison briefly in the early 90s but got kicked out of the band for sleeping with the drummer's girlfriend. Since then, he's had a solo career for nearly three decades (and done some side projects with other musicians-just recently did a record with Adrian Smith from Iron Maiden for example) but never became super famous. Makes decent money off endorsement deals for gear (guitars, pedals etc.) because he's fairly well known by guitarists and shred guitar fanatics like me. But he never became mainstream. Too talented a singer, song writer and lead guitar player to not have had more bigtime fame though IMO.
