As a child I grew up in India in a culture that would refer to going to toilet as "a trip to Pakistan" or "a trip to Dubai"!
Even at school, kids would often ask for a toilet break by saying to teachers, "Miss, I want to go to Pakistan/Dubai please."
I could understand people referring to Pakistan as a toilet, given the array of tension over Kashmir issue.
But, why Dubai?
One factor overlooked here when understanding why Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is powerful compared to its popn apart from resources, oil etc is the simple reason that it controls the two holiest shrines of Mecca and Medina. These vastly increase both its implicit respect and explicit ability to project influence anywhere through the Islamic world. This was also the reason Ottoman Turkey had an enhanced influence/prestige [as discussed here], even though by 1750s-1800s their Empire was very weak, it did not diminish their respect in that proportion, largely due to the above factor.

India should accelerate electric vehicle adoption. Use about $30 billion (of 450 billion forex reserves) to incentivize Tesla and like companies to set up facilities in India.
Also make new regulations for all vehicles that travel a lot of kilometers (buses, lorries, ola/uber cars) to be electric and provide subsidies to offset some of their costs.

Ever heard of solving a problem with a targeted approach? The problem here is energy dependence. Most of the country has surplus power today. That power can cost effectively be used for transportation. Transition to Renewable energy is happening but can’t wait until it’s all done. From environmental perspective an electric car running using coal generated power is still better than a petrol car.
Sure reducing population, better roads, better education and civic sense will all help alleviate the problem marginally. But they are not the focus of energy policy makers.

A few corrections. 1) Turkey was never a European style secular country. I wonder how you get that idea. Turkey has spent large parts of its history as a military dictatorship, with brutal suppression of rights, and a penchant for genocide. The real turnaround that Erdogan brought about was two fold, 1) to turn the country into a real democracy by reducing the influence of the military. He has recently been behaving like a classic elected autocrat , but that turn came much later in his career. Even so there remains a vast difference between him and any of the other 'classically Islamic govt',' as you call it. All those 'classically Islamic countries' were either overtly of implicitly dictatorships. And while Erdogan turn towards authoritarianism is alarming it has reached dictatorship levels as yet. It might still do so, but it is not there yet. Case in point, recent mayoral elections that AKP lost. His nepotism is authoritarianism is closer to India's own political class, and his agenda their not very different the Hindu right here.
The second major change, and the major difference from the Hindu right here, is of course the economy. Turkish economy has boomed under Erdogan.
Your understanding of the response of Saudi Arabia and Turkey to the arab spring is flawed. Turkey saw an ally in the Muslim Brotherhood and supported anti govt protests in Egypt, yes, but Saudi never supported it. They only supported those protests where the public rose against a shia government. Notably in Syria. In Bahrain they went so far as to send their army to suppress the protests by a largely shia population against the minority rule of Sunni Muslims. There problem with MB is not that it is islamist, they can live with that very comfortably, their problem is that it is democratic. MB has been using democracy as the main tool to prise open the grasp of the army in Egypt, and obviously Saudis fear that if the democratic bug were to catch they might lose their place.
So in conclusion, please employ a better researcher.

I don't agree with your logic that leaders of countries with less population hold more power. That is universally true and not just limited to Islamic Countries. India has a very large population, still it is not a permanent member of UNSC. All the members of UNSC (bar China) have much smaller population that their political influence. China's influence has risen in only recent times.

Pakistan has its problems no doubt about it but our 70 years history tells that things can change. Pakistan decline started from the early 90s and India rise started from the late 90s. We ARE intolerant. Compared to countries like USA or Canada, or most of Western Europe. We're only tolerant if we're competing with the Saudis or other dictatorships... That way India is also a very rich country if we compete with sub-Saharan Africa.

I mean, no one can reasonably say they "know" an entire country first hand right (unless maybe it's Liechtenstein or Singapore or something) ? For example, I live in western Maharashtra/Delhi. My knowledge of say Odisha does come largely from secondary sources.
