Your billboard comment at the very end brought to mind an ABC (think maybe Landline) doco on the "Fallow Deer" problem, wherein graziers were interviewed. They all wanted the numbers radically reduced and said it was therefore pointless allowing even responsible sporting hunters onto their property because they only wanted to kill prize stags. I guess I'm even worse as a compound bow hunter given the obvious, much lower success rate. Since then, I have mulled over the dilema. The best (but probably crap) idea I could come up with, is the possibility of hunters agreeing to set up a background check system and once the owner was satisfied, let only vetted hunters come onto the property at a preferred time and duration, but always subject to the hunter(s) agreeing to take say one stag for every three meat animals. That said any system is likely to be buggered by the ongoing garbage behaviour of the spotlighting, roadside discharging, trigger happy brain dead element. Anyway, thanks again for your great channel content.
The real problem I see is that with most hunters taking very few animals (in spite of the abundance and virtually limitless opportunity), most crosshairs are placed upon "trophy" animals. The unattractive bucks do as much damage to the countryside but a helluvalot more damage to the gene pool.
