It is to be honest but there are varieties to choose so u can always go for less spice and especially tourist hotels serve less spicy
Kandy is 1 of the most beautiful cities in world. But rapid urbanization will destroy the beauty of the city. Government should maintain kandy as a historic and tourist city. Kandy should not be industralized

I'm from Kandy, and I think afternoon is the best time to explore Kandy. Especially strolling around the lake in the afternoon is really nice, with lots of beautiful views.

Kandy is central Sri Lanka. Other beautiful cities in central Sri Lanka is nuwara eliya, Ella, matale etc. In northern and north central Sri Lanka we have Anuradhapura, polonnaruwa, Jaffna, and Trincomalee in north eastern area.

The city is a world heritage historical site declared by UNESCO. That's why the buildings are in that way. Because there's no permission to do any changes.
I really hope you didn't make the classic tourist mistake of climbing Pidurutalagala rock instead of actual Sigiriya.
Its not piduruthalagala..which is the tallest mountain... its pidurangala

Do not directly go to Ella. Go to Nuwara Eliya, Horton plains , then go to Ella. Would be lifetime experience. You will see many waterfalls breathing sceneries. Beautiful mountains. In Horton plains you can see leapods as well, highest waterfall, second and third highest mountains are situated in Horton plains
Kandy is a gateway to any other place in the country.

It is surprised me too much that Srilanka is, I thought they are in big trouble after watching the NEWS last year they had no electricity no gasoline, i couldn't imagine how they would live in the country but the video has changed my mind to be honest bravo.

The wildlife you saw walking around the city in case you are interested. The birds you saw at the lake appear to be spot-bill pelicans. Monkeys you saw are toque macaque. The Sri Lankan Elephant is one of the three sub-species of Asian Elephant.

Dany, what is the temperature now in kandy?
mainly Kandy has a tropical climate but it is situated in 500m above sea level. So due to that atitude kandy city experiences some subtropical climate vibe at the same time. Basically nights and mornings are cool and days are warm but not as like colombo.(30-20°C),december to january the temperature can be dropped down to 15°C at night and morning times.mosty city has a temperature range about (18-29°C) throughout the year
Kandy was the last capital of sri lanka, until british empire captured kandy in 1815AD.British took control over the city and arrested the last king, sri wickrama rajasinghe.

Infrastructure need regular maintenance and pedestrians need more space to walk freely and safely.
Almost no night life here due to the Temple of tooth presence, which is dissapointing.
Traffic management need to improve a lot.
