I'm glad heads are rolling in Detroit. Coaching errors are ignored on teams that don't care. (Portland). It sounds like the Pistons are very serious about building a road towards improvement.
LETSS GOOOOOOOOOO, I don’t even care if Monty had the worst roster of all time. He literally had no concept of roster management, and his excessive amount of mixed lineups meant that the consistency or chemistry we could have had was gone. I don’t know if this was intentional on him but the fact he was so against putting Cade with our few good pieces made me feel like he gave up the first week. I don’t know if Monty just benefited from having better talent but there’s no way that as an NBA coach with this much experience that he could mess up this bad. Also love the video Kofi ! :)

He said all along that he only took the job because of the money and didn't care at all. And then he coached like it.

The reality is that he didn’t want to be there. He was obviously offered way too much money to turn down and just went to chill. The sad part is he will get another job, most likely with a contender and do fairly well. That’s the annoying and frustrating part is that he can come in, not care at all, get fired, get guaranteed millions after, then get another job.

* Pistons gave minutes to 31 players over the 82 games.
* And when those minutes were given, they were really rationed. 104 NBA players played 2000+ minutes this season….. 2 of them were #67 Ivey (2217) and #90 Cade (2074).
* So many Pistons’ players got match-time crumbs. The top 6 players in minutes played on the Pistons (10,425 combined) had not much more than the remaining 25 players (9,330 combined).

The “National Media” will tell you Monty had no chance with this team and that’s half the story. The man never wanted to be the Detroit coach, sabotaged the entire season and then never fought to be brought back. Once “guaranteed” was put in his contract the man only cared to get his remaining money and get the hell out. A true blight on just an awful 15 year run for this organization and hopefully a turning point for better things
The talk I was hearing was his coaching style just didn’t fit what this team needed.
That the team needed someone with a little more drive and discipline and Monty’s sort of a nice easy attitude type of coach.
Which his style would work on a lot of other teams, just not in Detroit.
It is insane to me that the Pistons had to trade and waive players to get the coach to stop playing them

There’s not a single person on this planet that could’ve coached this team to more than 20 wins. The players are just mediocre and don’t gel. If our over/under on wins was 25 next year, I’d bet my entire life’s savings on the under.

Honestly I’d rather have this be reality than hold onto the hope that we can maybe be a play-in team someday. I don’t think there’s any coming back from this hell that the pistons are in. They should just move the team to another state.

We had nearly the same team as last year plus Cade Cunningham for nearly the whole season... and we won less.
He ain't the whole reason, but he's a good chunk. We also fired Troy Weaver who was ALSO a major part of the problem. Go back to Kofi covering that and you'll see we're just as happy about that, too.
Ivey is not a great player with the ball in his hands. No control with the ball. He is definitely better than Hayes offensively, but not defensively.
Ivey should have stayed at Purdue for one more year to develop his combo guard skills.
