Guys, if you think THAT was Microsoft’s biggest E3 fail, you ‘failed’ to realize that in that VERY SAME conference, they had the whole “DRM” debacle (can’t share games) That set back Microsoft in the eyes of even die hard fanboys like myself!!
This whole presentation is a great example of both wasted potential and executive meddling! In my opinion the pricing wasn't the biggest problem! The main issue was the rushed release (on May instead of September) with games, that were not ready to be released at that time (Virtua Fighter and Daytona USA) and making the retailers angry resulting in them pulling off many Sega products out of their stores! On top of that the advertising of the Saturn was terrible (at least in the West), in Japan they had Segata Sanshiro! And last but not least, the troubled development and cancellation of Sonic X-Treme (a.k.a Saturn's potential killer app), that resulted in one person almost dying due to the extreme stress during development! All of these combined resulted in the failure of the Sega Saturn in the west!
Constantly having to Google stuff from these lists that are apparently too offensive to repeat, only to find it's not actually that bad and I just wasted 5 minutes lol
