But he never got a real chance to act in sensible films but this one. He shot to fame in the roles of Gabbar Singh or Kaliram etc.,('Sholay' or some other equally stupid film) which are the silliest and beastliest roles ever encountered in Bollywood . His other villainous roles in Bollywood were at best laughable and compares nowhere with the dignity and grace of the other Hindi film villain of yesteryears ------ Pran.

Satyajit Ray was perfectionist Director. Can any one tell why he made three of instrument players stand and perform, the Tabla man, Pkhawaj man and sarangi player. Since there was no mike then to share hence why are these three kept standing or mobile.

The choreography could have been better. I didn't like the dress either, so uncomfortable. A lot of focus on bhaav.
Dunno but I always found this dance very stiff and boring. There so much scope for abhinay and expansive gestures but it doesn't come thru
The film is about .nawab losing throne .showed the life in Lucknow but emphasis on politics.
