      My first mask I did it and got a little too close to the skirt and did a little damage. Nothing significant, but when I got my second more expensive mask I did it only in the center of the lenses, just to be sure the center is clear and steered far away from the skirt. I'd recommend that and then just toothpaste it a bunch of times.

      A dive instructor ended up performing "the flame method" for me outside of my line of sight. I'm assuming he did a good job because I didn't have any fogging issues, and as far as I can tell, the mask doesn't leak either.

    Wish I came across this short video before last weekend where I had the displeasure of a new mask with foggy lens. Ruin my 1st dive, only friction I had was my wetsuit which done the trick and made the 2nd dive awesome. I started with warm soapy water but had no luck. Great series, very informative and I look forward to gaining the next tip. 👍

    Wow! This video is amazing because I was diving for a week recently and my instructors kept me asking if I did burning or toothpasting. I didn’t understand much and they didn’t had time to explain in detail in the rush. I kept taking in little water to remove the fog underwater as a workaround. but I will definitely use these methods on my apeks vx1 next time I dive again. Been using it for 2 years now on and off, i am sure it still has that silicone on it 😂😂

    Im currently in the process of building a shopping list for my first full dive kit based on warm water use (26-30 degrees celcius) between 10 to 30 metres. I really like the idea of air integration, having all the information in one place using a watch style dive computer seems like a very tidy & user friendly system. My question is, can a computer like the teric or d5 with ai take the place of a console/gauge setup? Not only would it be a super streamline setup by getting rid of gauges & a console, it would also offset the price of buying an ai pod by not having to purchase gauges/console. Personally, id love to have a computer/ai pod setup without gauges for compass, depth, spg etc. seems pointless to have all that hardware for the equivalent of 2-3 functions on a computer.

    This does not treat the fog issue. Once you let the lenses cool down (magically) the silicon layer appears again and you see the fog clearing up....
    If it's working, its the anti-fog spray.
    I tried it myself :)

  • @fivenine5905
    @fivenine5905 Рік тому

    you dont want to be "mildly abrasive" on lenses. you need to de grease the coating. quite a few passes with fairy will more than do. toothpaste is a mild abrasive needed to clean teeth all your doing is putting small micro scratches in the plastic which will cause yellowing or the need to buy a mask much sooner.
