    Superbe. J'apprends, à mon petit niveau, La Pastorale de Burgmuller et de vous entendre, et ré-entendre ça m'aide beaucoup. J'aimerais avoir votre talent mais ça n'arrivera jamais, toutefois le piano m'apporte beaucoup moralement. Merci

Pero mi sueño es el piano, estos videos son muy útiles además debo estudiar solfeo y teoría. Soy jubilado como maestro y profesor podría Ud. Enviarme si puede subir videos de Czerny. Sir, the original score of Artless Mind by Bürgmüller specifies a crotchet tempo of 152. Since you may have a good reason to play at a far slower tempo, I should be grateful that you sustained your views about it.

    • @BachScholar
      @BachScholar  Рік тому +2

      Nobody plays this at 152 per crotchet.

    • @bricecoustillas2176
      @bricecoustillas2176 Рік тому

      @@BachScholar Nobody… everybody… perhaps. But why? And how about the composer's intent? My query is an open, not polemical one.

    • @BachScholar
      @BachScholar  Рік тому +1

      Maybe some pianists play 152 per crotchet for this piece, but most of the metronome speeds for the other pieces are too fast and pianists rarely play them. Some are almost impossible. Burgmuller used the metronome differently than we do today. He seems to have meant that the number is per quaver, not crotchet. But this is just a practice speed, so better would be a crotchet speed of around 108. Composers were not God. Their metronome speeds are often flawed and not always good advice.

    • @bricecoustillas2176
      @bricecoustillas2176 Рік тому

      @@BachScholar Thank you for expressing your views. As to Artless Mind I do not share them - and I should think it is a matter of taste, for a higher tempo, as specified, makes the piece airier in my view. Conversely I agree with the tempo you play Bach's Invention 5, all the more reason I can read it originates from a scientific assessment, which I go for. As to a composer not being God, I dare say God has not been celebrated as a music composer, which precludes Him from being a referee. And since you are a composer yourself (unfortunately
      I have not been able to find any of your composition on the Internet), I doubt very much you would accept your own idea about the tempo of one of your pieces be dismissed as irrelevant. Who knows? This reminds me of a passage of the biography of Respighi by his wife Elsa, who recalled that, while attending a rehearsal of an orchestral piece written by her late husband, she represented to the conductor that the tempo was definitely not that intended by the composer. Nothing doing ! The boss knew better - oblivious to the fact that Elsa has received a complete musical training and that… SHE should know better for having shared the life of the maestro for decades.
