I’ve done inspection on pipelines for over 30 years and every time I got involved with a hot tap, it would make me pucker. I would watch from a distance then do my job when no sparks or open fire is around. It takes a special kind of a person to weld on a “live” pipe. Very professionally done.
They pay crazy mf like the boys and I a lot of money to do stuff like this. We are also insured very well through the union
Thank you for showing me how to do this. I’m going to do this at my house this weekend and get that free gas for my bbq grill!!!
@C S LOW so y'all know this is a water pipe right?
Don't forget the regulator!
Not that easy bro. It's very different when hot tapping on flammable gas pipelines.
Better get life insurance
I wouldn't do that if I was you. This is a job for professionals even though this is a water line. These guys don't just go out and just do a job like this, they are pros. You could get in big trouble working on the wrong side of a live line. Specifically if something goes wrong. These guys have a plan approved by an engineer. The safety of everyone on this job and the environment is considered for a project like this.
good men, 10 tradesmen 15 bosses watching
Welcome to turkey
@@eminkilinc7806 lol it happens everywhere... Even in the USA.
@@johnwalker7592 In the USA is worst, 1 person working, 15 to 20 watching. 🤔😂
@@JoseJB0 you speak truth.
Jose apparently you don’t do pipeline work.
For anyone wondering what they are doing in these videos - a hot tap is typically “work” on an in service pipe line without taking it out of service. It’s not really explained well in this video but in the first segment they start out with a big in service pipe, and installed 2 valves with a bypass, this is the piece at 4:15 that allows fluid to flow around the area they are working on, so the pipeline doesn’t have to be shut down while they make repairs or tie in another well or pipeline.
Once the bypass is flowing, the section between them is isolated and the pressure is bled off with the 2 small silver valves you see them install. In this video, they installed the bypass, then once it was depressurized, they cut in a valve (blue valve shown at about the 4:49 min mark). The last few mins of the video shows the hot tap cutter, like a big hole saw, contained in water, presumably to prevent any sparks from igniting what’s in the pipe.
Very good explanation! I didn't understand why they welded a tee on the pipe without cutting before.
What is the tool at 1:39?
The contents of the pipeline will not ignite,,,,, No oxygen.
Lynn C. Doyle - uh yeah, so long as it’s sealed in the pipe. But......if you drill a big hole in the pipe like what they are doing here, then.....it’s exposed to oxygen. Even if the pipe is empty of product the remaining vapours can ignite so you still need to prevent sparks.
@@ScoredPiston I've made several small (2 to 6 inch) hot taps and still have some of my fingers and most of my face. How many have you made?
Lynn C. Doyle - pipeline decommissioning is part of my job. So hot / cold taps, bleed downs, pigging etc are routine in my world. Stay safe man.
These craftsmen learned these skills from starting at the bottom and working their way up with some hard days. Most of 'em anyway. Alot these days arent willing to put on a pair of boots.
Others just like to bitch online. Lol
All the shots of guys watching with their hands in their pockets is how you know this is accurate.
Union job
A lot are the safety observer teams. Some are the government officials that must be there under the permits. Do you actually know and are licensed in the business?
They have itchy balls
Anyone else stoked this came up after they searched "Hottapping a giant pipeline"?
$850,000 in tapping equipment. $7 Home Depot Empire level.
Uma derivação muito bem criada, preparada e executada .A API sempre fazendo história !! Parabéns Meninada!
Muito bom...só profissionais na área.
Guauuu; realmente impresionante todo.
Gracias por compartir el vídeo.
Did I blink and miss the bit where they inserted the plug, then cut the pipe section out, welded flanges on and installed the big blue isolation valve?
The pipe is full and a live and is on those cases is no way to stop theliquid runing
Looks like its just water. No real threat there like high pressure natural gas
@@HB-kp6rl Agreed, blue valve is a give away, probably PN10 at the most. HPNG would be a way better valve..
Also all low psi flange with just a gasket no api rings
Dan Koldenhoven when i heard hot tap I thought high pressure. Turns out to be just some regular bullshit water line stuff
Perfect video. They are the true masters of their craft.
Beautful work! D'ont give up!
I did this for thirty five years as a welder. I miss it! Thanks for a great video!
Where?
@Enrique Gomez, San Francisco International Airport, Oakland Airport, Sac/ Mather/Travis Air Force Bases, Portland PDX, ....and so on. I loved it, and I miss it!
Would love to be doing it today! Stay safe! 🖐️👈
@Enrique Gomez, thank you for the question! You gave me the chance to watch the video again. I'm at the end of life, and that was fun! I worked with some really good guys over the years and made a lot of money. What a blast!
Reminds me of the good old days!! I use to be a union welder.I also worked offshore with the roughnecks!! Those boys can party!!!
Why the name "pecker wood" if you worked with metal?
Been there and done that!! Loved every minute of it!!!
Muito bom parabéns 👍👍👍👍
Beautiful work ... thanks you upload this video
За технологию лайк однозначно 👍👍
I allways wonder🤔what kind of people do these wonders???now i thank you for the on line shooling👏👏👏👏
Anybody else here watching before doing a huge piping job?
Me neither.
😂😂👌💯
It’s way easier to just cut the pipe and welded in the tee than the huge job they are making this. Look up pipe liners
I just found the reason it’s being done in Canada.... they have crazy regulations on pipelining their.
@@robertkakela2068 its because they cant let pressure off, thousands people would be without it for atleast a day. Thats not acceptable.
I wish I had found this before! Now I know what I did wrong.
Now that is an awesome way to install a T fitting.
Dobra robota 💪 panowie
Молодцы рабочии и руководство👍👏
Here I thought this was a oil pipeline. Where none of this would have made any sense????👍
This procedure is also performed on Gas lines.
Это только может быть у нас!
Не заметили?
Работают двое,трое,а смотрящих четверо и больше.
Это нормально
Это наши и есть

Exceptional welding. Guys are good.
Yeah my favorite work week.

Если честно, я не хера не понял зачем они эти доп краны вварили
I'd like to see those specs, "bolts shall be knock it with a hammer tight"

Крутямба, завидую вам !!!!
Very dangerous work and very well executed very well done to the team
Great.... good job...
Tht really to learn from tht .. Tht awesome .. 👍
Interesting 👍🏻
They should’ve just used flex seal
Needs more narrative of what is happening at each step.
Not like you’re going to watch this and go do a hot tap tomorrow lol
@@jeepwk6.5L if the point of video is to impart understanding, context & details matter.
Large scale industrial processes may inspire a maker-type to use the process on a smaller scale.

Great video.... I was a welding / QC inspector at oil field in Kuwait.. Thanks for this video. Some fools are disliked this video why?
I like it so much. Thanks for sharing
good video interesting and useful even though we are far away but we can help each other .. thank you my brother🙏🙏🙏🙏👍👍

Awesome work. Shore that trench!
அருமை.. அருமை..!. நானும் வெல்டர்தான்..!
Excellent
Excellent work 👍
I have commented on my machining history while working in GE gear plant 7 axis cnc horz boring mill. After i left i got a job in large gas utility in Massachusetts and work in distribution department. We used the Williamson method. 60 pounds to 200 pounds. It amazed me how to work on live lines and no interruptions
Well dome nice good job! 👍
Semangat sukses 💜 keep the spirit 👁️🗨️
I used to see them preparing it but never have opportunity to watch as I worked in the corrosion and management, usually pass along, thanks for the opportunity.
Nice work 👌
A grate job I like
Wow masters.

Amazing
Deux prises en charge et un bi pass 👍
Why am I here though? Oh, 4 supervisors and 3 people working..
I like to think of them as reminder-ers
turks..
Someone like me doesn't finish watching without knowing what they do
I am a boilermaker and I love this I could weld this easy and pass first go I just love stick welding.
Xray determined you are lying
Work project..is strong men 💪
Aku suka ini bos
I worked on this equipment everyday for the past 6 years. The valves in the first job looked rough at best.
Not impressed. The Mexicans are currently hot tapping with 2 man crews and none of the fancy equipment.
CB I second your comment deffo wouldn't pass a UK inspection
👍👍👍😜🏴🦄🎣😁🤞✌️
@@samsonsrevenge4357 And blowing themselves up in the process.
Good video
did a hot tap , on a platform in the edop field in Nigeria with my dad in 1992 , we got the drill stuck , took us 2 days to sort , the evacuated every one off the platform except me and him , and it pissed hard nostop the whole way through it ............ happy days
This looks like Soo much fun! 😶 I want to play!

amazing to see this, i design stuff like this, it's nice to see how it's al put together, i'll know what stuff i should avoid. do you have any videos on teh same procedure but on smaller pipe? like 12" and lower?
Well in the Netherlands we weld them from 2" up to 48"
Nice !
Holiday test and no wraping. Here, we using STOPAQ anti corrossion for at least 20 years Zero corrosion
Where's the "jeep" afterwards?

Very tuff engineering
I wish I got paid like one of those guys to just stand around and drink cranberry juice....
Well if work facinates you where you can stand around all day and watch it, become a pipeline inspector.
