    I am a big advocate of shooting more weight, but you need to train for it. So many health benefits. Also 80lb bows today draw so much easier than 70 lb bows a few years ago! Lets go!!

      Absolutely I just started training a week ago kind of what inspired the 80lb mods to push myself. Actually watched your video on the Mtn Ops stuff as I have used it before but found your video to help me get “back on the horse”

      @@FaithHunters-vf9rp Nice. I'm a big fan of bodyweight exercises too like Dips and pull ups too, they are amazing whole upper body and back exercises. If you ever have minor injuries, hanging from a pull up bar is a great way to keep the shoulder mobile and heal quicker!

    That's awesome. I'll never understand why people make the negative comments. If it didn't matter everyone would be shooting 55 lbs. I'd shoot 100 lb if I had the ass to do it with correct form 😅
    Edit: Setting one pin at 30 and only having to allow for a few inches at 20 and 40 respectively is a huge deal.

    Thank you for this video. I’m picking up my Lift soon and now I realize two things. I can get my setup done with the 70lb current setup to get started and then I can order and replace to 80lb myself.

    I just found your channel and subscribed. I'm 63 and can still easily shoot 80lb bows. I have lifted weights most of my life. The best advice I can give (if you want it) is, work your rotator cuffs and rear delts three times a week using a light/medium/heavy training split. I guarantee after a few weeks you will be giggling at how easily you will draw that bow and how steady you will also be at full draw.

    • @FaithHunters-vf9rp

      I really appreciate it i'll take any advice I can get 😆 I am 45 and have zero history with actual strength training. It is definitely on my horizon. I actually bought some resistance bands and this week started doing some shoulder exercises. I follow elkshape, and they had a physical trainer showing some exercises. Making some big life changes and this is just the start.

    I owned a lot of 80lb bows. Even own 94lb King Cobra. I will say tired muscles and cold weather, lots of arrows, it ican be hard to pull 80lbs. Also a super speed bow at 70 pound bow can be harder to pull than a smooth 80 pound bow.

      Yeah it is amazing on how 80lbs or 70lbs can feel different based on the bow

  • @ross7684

    You probably need a stiffer spine arrow if you go to 80#. That means that you'll have the expense of maintaining two sets of arrows.

    You get 10lb of draw weight force on your arrow for every inch of draw length. It’s way easier to find ways to increase your draw length by an inch than drawing a shoulder mashing 80lb bow. Draw length is the powerstroke .. change your form a bit or use a different release if you want to add an inch of draw length and poof, you get 10lb more

    • @FaithHunters-vf9rp
      @FaithHunters-vf9rp  7 місяців тому

      Absolutely. Draw length definitely can gain fps easier onnthe body. Just make sure you can get a good anchor and form.

    You might be close to 300fps but the advantage of 80lbs is minimal at best. But it does depend on what you are hunting if its whitetail or most north american game does not make a lot of sense. If pushing a big expandable and that arrow it won't hurt but make sure you can draw that in the cold also not just in the house, and in 50 degrees great video!

      Higher KE, flatter arrow trajectory, tighter pin gaps and the assurance that you can push any tips of broadhead and get a quick, ethical kill makes a lot of sense. Don’t be mad because you don’t want to push yourself to get in better shape and confidently draw back an 80lb bow. Leave the hard stuff to us 😉

      Man I see people say stuff like this all the time, but the reality is that it's not difficult to get in shape enough to draw it and the flatter trajectory, the better. There are only upsides unless you're struggling to do it.

    I shoot what I group best(most accurate) with , same with my rifle reloading.
    Won't say if I shoot 50# or 80# , you shoot 50 same say man up , shoot 80 and you are trying to prove something.
    It's about comfort an fit and feel. You may be able to pull one 70# bow way easier than a 55# bow of a different set up depending on your body and form.
    Let the target tell ya what to shoot youtubers not the specs 😉

  • @mohawksniper79
    @mohawksniper79 8 місяців тому

    Definitely keep the modes and if you can get 60 get them also if you ever get an bad back or shoulder you will want a lower pound I fuked my back as a welder/millwright and after about three shots I'm done but with 60 it gets me a few more shots before taking a break. 👍🏼🤠
    I used to shoot target compound then went to a self made long bow then back to a hunting PSE embark and with the QAD rest it's so deadly got to get more arrow and some more targets to shoot at so I don't lose so many arrows.

      I will probably switch back to the 70 for a few months I am in the middle of making a bunch of life changes and working out is one of them. On these new bows though 80lb isn’t as bad as it used to be to be. Especially with 85% let off.
      I also went to a bigger target due to losing arrows 😂

      @@georgehardin8452You're obviously not a hog hunter . No exit usually means no blood trail, lost animal. "no need " is a pretty ignorant blanket statement to make when you don't know the needs of other hunters. 80lb bows are a big help to archers who have shorter draw lengths and love to hunt hogs year round like me.
