I love it! But I think that when scrolling, the Villa's image could be a little smaller, so that the user can focus more on the information and still be able to view the images. You help me a lot! Thanks
Can you create a course that teaches UI/UX and everything that you do (specially the Research, Analysis, Discovery Process, etc)? I really want to learn from you and I’m happy to pay for it
Hello Rachel, 🙋 I am a first year student in a Design college📖 in India. Ever since I got into design field I had this imposter syndrome😿. I always watched your videos and I used to think "wow. I wanna do all this too!".🥳 I started designing and sharing it to the world but I didn't got any clients😷. Then I started posting my designs into competitions and eventually won a few competitions☺. And finally clients started approaching me! 😄 When I earned my first money I was shaking😲! Because all the rejection I faced was scary to me. But it made me strong, very strong.😺 And I am incredibly happy to announce that recently I won a very amazing gig (💵). All thanks to you and your videos. You are a great inspiration to all the new designers who are getting in this field. 👏 I am looking forward to create a work life balance and pay my college tuition👨🎓. Everything is going great and I am growing both financially and mentally! I hope you are having an amazing day too! Keep up the good work!😊
Incredible and very well-thought out! From just a quick glance, the original looks pretty good and functional, but there were in fact, many areas of improvement that can be exposed if you train yourself to develop a more critical eye for the user's experience. As a casual viewer of design work (I'm not a designer), it's really refreshing and informative to see the before and after, as well as your thought process behind design decisions to flaws in the original that I never would've thought of.
Your work on YT is so appreciated, Rachel. Thank you so much for taking time to create these. It's a fantastic resource to new and experienced designers alike!
To see your thought process in identifying areas of improvement from a real, existing design, and actually improving it has far more educational value for more intermediate level designers looking for more than just "here are some cool color palettes and fonts to play with". Option 2 is definitely my preference. Having the persistent images seems like a better experience to keep users enticed.
As a beginner in UI/UX design, I applaud Rachel for such great content. I feel like to be a Great designer takes a whole lot. Thank you for showing the steps that you take in tackling your designs. I am very impressed.
Hi Rachel, these redesign series are eye-opening and inspirational to people who are learning UX UI like me. Hope you still have time to do these videos cause I know these are time-consuming since 3hrs thinking and redesigning then shorten it to 12:05 minutes video. Thank you for your effort ❤
🥺 Thank you so, so much for the kind words. It's really nice to know that the hard work behind the scenes are being appreciated. I will be doing websites/dashboards next, to switch things up a little.
Looks better than the original. Like others have said, Option 2 sacrifices a lot of screen real estate to images. If the client pushed for keeping the images on screen, you could scale it down on scrolling till the image width is about half the screen width and transition it into a horizontal scroll view with the other images. I do like the sticky CTA on the bottom, but with this much scrolling, there should be a "scroll-to-top" button available to the user. Standard practice is to put that towards the bottom-trailing portion of the screen, but with that taken by the CTA bar, maybe the top trailing? Either way, looks great. Nice work
I love how your videos are always so well structured and I enjoy hearing your thought process behind your design choices. I love how you designed this app, I definitely prefer the option where the images are fixed because they are what make me most excited about booking a place.
Love the redesign. 1h vs 3h ; isn’t that always how it goes?! Using accordions and the horizontal scroll are some of my favorites to organize the text. Sigh, good up writing… it IS such an important skill and I’m lacking. Even just for the placeholder text that won’t go on the final site. Thx for showing us all the preliminary research that’s essential prior to beginning the design. That’s often skipped in How To videos. Great video!
Loved the entire process for creating a stunning ui design, I liked the idea of keeping the images fixed when scrolling as it might help a lot in decision making
Do you have any checklists that you follow when reviewing any design? If so, could you please give an overview of it? This would help us understand your overall process better.
such a detailed yet straightforward redesign video! please don't stop making this kind of videos as it gives a lot of new insight in redesigning UI. I like the second option but imo first one is more common.
Very nice redesign. Only three things cought my eye: 1 - scroll indicator and view holding current image of x number (i.e. 3/20) is there for the same purpose, I'd leave only one (most likely 3/20 cuz it looks clean) 2 - $73.00 NIGHT it's a bit unusual to see price shown like than, I'd add / to have it like "$73.00/ NIGHT", but I like that NIGHT is smallet font, I love to do that too! 3 - Bottom holder view that holds Book Now button is missing smth... text colors could be more clear maybe, top spacing for Book Now button feels too small and the background kinda out of context... Would put white background give top light shadow and instead of gray for NIGHT and date texts I'd do black. But of course it's easy to comment me now :D overall all you're great! Love these redesign videos - Subscribed! Please keep it up!
Fantastic video! ❤ I prefer option 2. Having the photos visible is a good way to keep the look and feel of the villa on the user’s mind even while they explore the entire page.
You just taught me how to critically analyze a UI design. Would keep coming back to this video and will surely use the learnings to analyze better next time
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. It's always something to learn from. My first impression: The very roundness takes away the luxurious touch, also the blue color. It looks a bit cold, but I think luxurious is a warm or pastel color. The footer looks a bit rushed, the CTA (book now) is not inviting enough. Since you're a pro, I do allow myself to give critique because this is already on a higher end level we are talking about. 👍😊
Great redesign, and I love your thought process. But something I like about the original design is that it shows the facility information without needing to scroll. Your approach looks way better, not going to lie. I especially like the position of the title and review on top of the page and a sticky bar for booking and price.
I loved the way option 2 turned out. Love this series. Pls, keep on uploading this as a series. And the presentation video. Can you like make a video on how to present designs like that (It gives me Ad Vibes, lol)
This series is brilliant and I absolutely love it. It's really nice to see you sharing insights about your thought process and design concepts. I wish there were more videos like that out there. Keep it up.
Option 3, 90%of the first fold is just the image, 10% is book now, price, name, location and reviews. When user scroll, the everything pushes up, but the image sticks to header with a shorter height. Within the description should highlight photos, which is a gateway to tap the photo and load them into full screen.
Hi, Rachel, I have been following your videos for quite some time they are really informative and insightful. As a new UI/UX designer I really appreciate the work you put in to help all of us. I really liked the prototype video you made. I was just wondering how you made that video, So if you could share some insight regarding the process or the tool used it would be really helpful. Thank you keep up the great work!! 😁
Great tutorial! I love your analysis and the final result is indeed functional and feels luxurious. Could you tell me what did you use to create the video to present the design? Thanks! :)
at least once a week I watch this video... it reminds me that what I thought was "fairly correct" is completely incorrect... Thank you for your beautiful work!
I am new and interested in the UI/UX web design industry. You are incredible -- this was very informative and impressive -- please keep up the great work!
Incredible Rachel! I'm a digital experience designer myself, and all your videos are very inspiring and insightful! Amazing work (and also thanks for making me discover Mobbin :) ) Keep the great stuff coming!
Option 3: As you scroll, reduce the height to a min height. It’s an interesting effect when the aspect ratio of the image doesn’t match the initial image.
Love the final results Rachel. Another exploration I would've considered would have been to make each amenity and its icon, take a pill shape form with a light bg color and stack them side by side and wrap those that wouldn't fit on one line, Or even make them scrollable
I really love this, and the idea of the gallery images sticking to the top. But the issue is it takes up close to 30% of the real estate and maybe even more on smaller screens. I was thinking if, as the user scrolls up, the gallery height can also reduce by 10-15%? If the user has decided to scroll down for information, images become secondary priority. Something else which caught my eye was the very less padding between the top of the Book now button and the grey container. Since you spoke about UX writing (and I noticed this on AirBnb), I might be a bit hesitant to click on Book Now - does it take me to payment page, summary? Also maybe the 'See all amenities' CTA can be text only or outline, since it seems to be on the same hierarchy of the 'Contact Customer support'. CTA. But overall a great refresh of the UI!
I liked your first draft when you placed the title and reviews above the image. it made it so much more luxury living magazine-like. I'd stick to this layout and change one more thing, instead of the amenities list, I'd place them in icons. this way, you can create some kind of an index the user learns to be familiar with over time using the app. they'll eventually start recognising quickly the amenity icons so they no longer have to read the captions next to them. I'd place them under the image, and under that, I'd stick your book now section. this would give the user a quick intro to each listing (title, pic gallery, amenities, price+CTA). only once they scroll, similar to opening a magazine after looking at the cover, they'd be able to see all the other info you've designed, such as actual reviews, house rules, and everything else...
Really inspiring work by Rachel. Thankyou for your time and effort for helping aspiring UX designers and professionals improve skills throughout our UX journey. Thankyou for helping me understand the UX/UI thought process as I see it live. Also, the redesigned product is so clean and simple. But have a suggestion on the position of CTA button "Book Now". Could you please check the spacing/padding from the rectangle or mother container it is kept on. Correct me if I am wrong using the terminolgies used here. I am new & on my way exploring more on UX.
This redesign is fantastic! I'm absolutely in love with it. Would you be kind enough to provide some guidelines regarding the sizing of various elements such as buttons, padding, font size, and anything related to building a UI system?
The whole video was amazing... I feel that if "book now" Gets highlighted when it reaches at the end of the page, it might look better.... Probably i have seen this somewhere else and might enhance it a little.
Its cool and very helpful ❤ Attention to details, very pleasing ui and thoughtful at the same time Im learning alot from you Love from india Hoping to learn more from your side
Thanks Rachel, these vids are so helpful! I was wondering if it's possible for you to share the Figma link you worked on? For me, I learn best by studying how other designers built their layers etc. (:
I love this redesign series! It's really inspiring and helps me understand the UX/UI thought process as I see it in action. Also, the final presentation is so clean. I'll definitely be checking out Rotato. 👀
Thanks so much! To do the showcase video in the end, I prototyped it in Figma, then I use Rotato for the cool animations. I reached out to the Rotato team and got a 25% off promo code. From now till 12 July 2023, go to rotato.app, apply code ‘RACHEL’ when you checkout for 25% off. Btw, it’s one-time payment, no monthly subscription ☺️
great designs! personally i prefer option 1 since we don't know what device the user might use. having the image sticky on the top reduces the amount of information that is scrollable for the smaller screen.
Hey! Just wanted to appreciate you for creating this type of unique teaching experience, especially the way you speak loud about your thought process. Just simple request: pleaseeee post more content like this🥹🥹🥹🙏
Just an idea - Can we make the image width shorter while scrolling down instead off showing the whole image. I feel in that way the focus will be on the text but there will also be the image visible on top. While scrolling down the majority of the screen should be given to the information part. Let me know your thought on this! Oh btw I love your works
Hello Rachel! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share some exciting video ideas for your channel's future content: 1. How about providing feedback and reviewing developer portfolio websites? It could be a great way to help aspiring developers improve their online presence. 2. Another interesting idea could be reviewing and featuring portfolio websites submitted by your fans. It would be a fantastic opportunity to showcase their talent and creativity. 3. Lastly, why not take on the challenge of designing a stunning portfolio website for UI/UX projects? Your expertise in this area would be invaluable in creating an inspiring online showcase. Thank you for continuously producing awesome videos! Your content is truly appreciated!
I love it! But I think that when scrolling, the Villa's image could be a little smaller, so that the user can focus more on the information and still be able to view the images. You help me a lot! Thanks
agreed!

Hello Rachel! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share some exciting video ideas for your channel's future content:
