for calling yourself an "beginner artist", this was a really full yet simple breakdown of a style I have found so complicaded on the surface, really great video
I did a study on my channel about Kazuma Kaneko, who did most of the demon designs in SMT and Persona, along with Persona 1 and 2's characters. Persona 3-5 was done by Shigenori Soejima and especially in 3 and 4 you can see Kaneko's influence in his work, but with P3 reload, with Azusa Shimada's interpretation of the style and her colour design is so good that I actually like it better than Soejima's style.
Add one more secret technique: line blurring! They use it for P3R artworks. Ilya Kushinov, whose style is a bit similar to Shigenori Soejima (and she took part in the remake!) usually do this. 1. Line layer 2. Copy line layer 3. Apply gaussian blur to the copied line layer 4. Adjust adjust adjust
For being a beginner artist you have an incredibly good understanding of how to break down artstyles and how to apply the techniques you’ve noticed, this is really good stuff! You’ve made me want to study and replicate this art style too!
These kind of techniques for practical breakdowns when studying art are sorely needed in the realm of Art UA-cam. This was a great video, despite saying you are a "beginner artist" you showed and explained so well how to digest a study of another artstyle that, as someone in the animation field, helped fill in several gaps for me in adapting styles. Thank you for the video, and subbed!
funny thing is I was attempting this style yesterday, so the fbi agent in my computer recommended this to me. This is a good breakdown!!! Thank you for the advice
Man i need more tutorials from you. Most of digital art tutos only record a speed paint and talk over it. I really liked the way your broke down the process and even with some speedpaint i could see which tools you were usign. Amazing video.
I was wondering how can i "copy" a little bit of P3R artstyle because its sooo good, and then youtube recommended me this video. Thank you very much for the breakdown for this artstyle!!!! Also i hope your channel grows more bigger in the future
This is such an amazing video!!! I hope you enjoyed it enough to film another. Awesome work all around! You explained everything so clearly I feel like I know how to dissect styles in general, not just from Persona ❤
Hey! You did pretty good with your attempt! Studying other art styles and see their techniques is always a fun and challenging learning experience!! Your breakdown of this was impressive and honestly made me feel giddy about learning art again!! I'm not a beginner artist but it never hurts to study how other artists draw and how they got so good at what they do. I love this video. God I love art and Persona so much!!! 💖✨
This is great! The breakdown was very easy to follow, you made everything look way simpler than i thought it actually was. Also your Tifa looks so pretty 😍
Not even done with the video and I already like this guy. He's actually breaking down the process and I'm actually understanding what he's doing. Great video!
awesome!! so interesting to see your research into this, i’ve also been trying to figure out what makes the persona art style so special recently and you articulated this so well! i’d love to see what you make next :-)
Hey man, please, make more videos, you impressed me. One suggestion is copying the Kazuya Takahashi art style, i trying study that art and I'm having some difficulty replicating some parts to have a better study.
Definitely saving this video for future reference. I really want my art to take more inspiration from Persona's incredible style, which you replicated/interpreted very well. Great job and awesome video.
Incredible breakdown technique. I think you nailed the hair. I just think that the cloth folding on the chest could be improved. The fold goes on top of the boob that is the closest to us, while it should go and overlap with the other (I dont know if Im explaining myself correctly) also the shadow above the nose could be improved. It makes the face look kinda flat, it would most likely follow the shape from the nose to the eyebrow following where the eye cavity in the skull would be. Overall still incredibly impressive work for a beginner. Ive been drawing for years and still my biggest struggling is rendering my drawings, while your rendering technique is already very solid!
Thank you soo much for making this video!!! Persona has been such an inspiration to me when it comes to art, and its about time i get out from my art slump, seeing how you were able to replicate this style so well makes me wanna do so aswell, ill def keep going back to this vid, your explanation is also rlly great and thats appreciated, have a good day and thank you again.
I’d love to learn how to draw in the style of the original persona 3 character designs. The colors were faded and they were drawn like they were always in overcast weather. The highlights were really subtle and the clothing looked real. I like 2:58 better than the finished drawing. It looks like portables design. I kind of hate the overdetailing of new character designs for persona. It’s too bright.
THIS VIDEO IS AMAZING! it really help me zoom in and understand the art and process behind it! Ur attempt is also REALLY GOOD LIKE WOW!!! Im excited to see ur future videos bro keep it up👍
An advice from a fellow artist. Before even thinking about developing your own art style, study the basics. Mainly anatomy and perspective. Art style comes later on its own. The biggest mistake rookie artists usually do is being impatient and skipping steps.
Honestly I 100% agree that the optimal way to learn art is to grind the fundementals before progressing to developing styles, but a counterpoint to that is that it's honestly way more fun to experiment around with artstyles you enjoy and study artist you love, and at the end of the day fun is really what art should be about :)
i love the new refreshing look by shimada, but soejima has this some kind of dark tone around his drawings, love his potrayal of p3 protag is much darker and his eyes are empty looking, i believe he took that from kaneko.

This was really helpful and its really impressive how you were able to breakdown the colors of the P3R artstyle
funny thing is I was attempting this style yesterday, so the fbi agent in my computer recommended this to me.
This is a good breakdown!!! Thank you for the advice
thanks fbi agent, very cool 👍👍👍
Most manga artists (and artists in general) tend to just mix a lot of the artstyles they like and end up creating their own artstyle.
😂this!
Man i need more tutorials from you. Most of digital art tutos only record a speed paint and talk over it. I really liked the way your broke down the process and even with some speedpaint i could see which tools you were usign. Amazing video.
i understand a little bit of art but this man do the breakdown so well that everyone can understand what he says
I was thinking the same thing! That's another talent on its own, too!
I was wondering how can i "copy" a little bit of P3R artstyle because its sooo good, and then youtube recommended me this video. Thank you very much for the breakdown for this artstyle!!!! Also i hope your channel grows more bigger in the future
this video was really helpful, i mostly draw traditionally but this will definitely help with how i will approach studying art styles in the future.
Zenless Zone Zero was also saved by copying the Persona style LOL
This is such an amazing video!!! I hope you enjoyed it enough to film another. Awesome work all around! You explained everything so clearly I feel like I know how to dissect styles in general, not just from Persona ❤

This is great! The breakdown was very easy to follow, you made everything look way simpler than i thought it actually was. Also your Tifa looks so pretty 😍

this is amazing, I’m excited to see if you make more videos!!
I think you did the rendering perfectly! Something feels slightly off about the lineart but it's certainly amazing and i love it
Not even done with the video and I already like this guy. He's actually breaking down the process and I'm actually understanding what he's doing. Great video!

I kind of prefers Azusas style over soejima
Yo this video is great. I just have a quick question. Where did you get the lineart for the Makoto Reload art or did you make it yourself?
This video is great!
Nice video, love these artstyle breakdown type of videos. Also goddamn you sound Norwegian lol
Ayo is that your first ytb video ever ? The montage is pretty good. I guess youve been doing art for a while hovewer
haha it's actually the opposite, I have a lot of experience with editing and youtube in general but I haven't done art a whole lot before :)
I wish I could draw that good I'm so bad omg
Hiii~@Sunoarts I love your technique its so Awesome...
Just asking if you okay with being art friends
u're good
damn just from that blurry image I knew it was gonna be dog water
Are there any free drawing softwares that have that smudge tool? I really want to try this
Not really sure honestly, but if you find any that has an airbrush you can manually blend the colors with the color picker :)
There's ibis paint x that has a smudge tool, and SketchBook has it to.
Krita
@@Flameyoo Ibis paint x
Do you work with comissions?
Also, nice vídeo.
what drawing app do you use
Good video 👍
This was really useful but i wanna know what color did you use for the shadows?do you use a multiply layer?
First video doing good👍
How do you get the line art of Makoto Yuki. Do you trace it??
So right now I only draw on paper, but if I would like to start with digital does anyone have any free or paid suggestions?
Does anyone know the software he uses on 4:52? I've been needing a reference like that for a minute
Clip studio paint!
Could you please do this with the Shin Megami 3 art style?
"the persona style" come on now..
u got a sub gang
Eu comecei assim
I dont know why, but the left eye felts a little weird
However, the drawing was way cool
Idk dude, don't think the way you did the lines fit Tifa. It does look good, but some of the shading could probably be blended in
BEGINNER ARTIST MY BUTTCHEEKS YOU ALREADY SURPRASED MY SKILLS AS A 12+ YR ARTIST (ur motivating me to pick up a pencil again)
Yeah your issue is how bad you are at drawing, which you skipped studying by tracing the picture
meh
7:23 DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT SONG THIS IS I KNEW THE NAME A WHILE AGO BUT I FORGOT
