I kinda factored that elevated designer stuff into my designer video. I'm using the words niche and designer quite literally as if designer brands kinda fall into the same umbrella with each other, and if your main focus is perfumery, then you end up on this list. Ex: Cartier with accessories, Lalique with glassware, Ermenegildo Zegna with suits, etc... Thanks for stopping by. =]
André I. that is how I define it, yes. A more literal sense in how this is their predominant niche, whether it’s high level ingredients or blend, or not. For example, Fragonard is still niche to me, despite their low price points. Cheers! =]
I've tryed almost everything from creed, and it's super overrated imo. I like their stuff, but there's definitely much better brands like kilian, Byredo and Le Labo.
Yeah agreed. I think kilian Is overrated too, but creed can't compare in quality for price and unique smells with Guerlain, Byredo, PDM, Goldfield and Banks, etc.
All of this is subjective of course but Creed has been around for 250 years for a reason. They are the gold standard for cologne because they produce niche level quality that is still accessible by the masses.
@@elihollingsworth6852 no way man. Everybody loves Aventus, Green Irish Tweed and Millesime Imperial just to name a few. The other perfumeries being better is your opinion. You liking the others better doesn't make them better.
@@elihollingsworth6852 PDM lol. Most of the scents I’ve smelled from them are the same/synthetic/trash. Their fall scents are okay but they all smell the same. Creed is 1000 times better. Most people would say PDM because they can get big bottles of it for under 200.
Guerlain is definitely niche. They specialize in perfumes for the most part. Tom Ford is more of a designer/lifestyle brand with his emphasis on apparel and whatnot. Thanks for stopping by.
I don't really have any opinions on C - F, but I would maybe raise Kilian one spot. MFK would be an "S" tier for me without any doubt! I'd also maybe raise PdM one spot. I don't care what it may be copying, but Layton is one of my favorite scents ever! Thank you for making a list though. It helps me visualize where I would place the different houses.
Great topic! Good list for the most part - I just love PDM and Kilian those 2 are A list for me. Creed is more B list to me but they are good - they kill me with batches arghhhh!
I haven't tried all of them but IMO the best quality is Amouage. Their fragrances really smell rich, thick and of natural ingredients. Better than Creed and Xerjoff.
IMO Parfums de Marly don't deserve to be next to big houses like amouage, kilian or MFK, is designer with premium quality but no creativity at all, only good marketing. And I'd swap Roja by Creed. Great video thanks to share!!
I agree with your list brother! PDM should've joined Clive, Jo malone & Bond at the F tier. Byredo could also join Montale in the E tier hehe! Excellent job, this list is hard to do & you did it with fair justifications, Cheers!
Great video my man! You helped me find a cologne that I've been looking for now for years. One tip, if you want to step up your category try doing your videos in fewer cuts. I'm not trying to be mean, but i'm giving you that older brother tough love. Thanks again for your great content and I'll be looking forward to your new releases.
Would you say PDM Carlisle is a more original creation? Can't think of any other fragrance that smells like it. Also surprised you didn't mention Nishane. They've been releasing some bangers!
I would switch Roja/Xerjoff with FM/Guerlain, Creed,Roja,Xerjoff are in my opinion the holy trinity when it comes to niche Fragrance, btw is Initio consider indie or did you forget about it?
Initio is just very obscure in comparison to most listed. Again, I tried restricting this to your Saks, Nordstrom, Holt Renfrew, Harvey Nichols-esque brands for the most part. Thanks for stopping by, fam! =]
This tier list is much closer to how I would rank them than the designer one was. I'd swap FM and Guerlain with Roja and Xerjoff though. Drop Kilian a tier as I really only enjoy a couple of them. Mancera move up one tier, solely for variety (I feel everyone can find something they like), performance, wearability, and price point. Overall great video. Cheers!
I would add Caron (B - probably the best value in all of Niche), L’Artisan Parfumeur (B), Profumum Roma (C), Zoologist (B), Tauer (B), Jovoy (B), Heeley (C) and Nishane (B). I would move some of Your A’s, B’s and C’s around a bit but, think this is a really good list.
Happy ya gave props to The king When Aventus stops making me FEEL amazing, that's when I'll stop wearing it. I have to buy Naxos next .. I'm obsessed with that fragrance. ty for the video
Great concept , love your clear thinking and no nonsense approach. You worked through this progression very logically with speed and consistency. I do agree with you for the most part. It does make me put off buying something like Clive Christian . I guess I have none in my wardrobe because they are over valued. I still have no Xerjoffs but I have many decants and I am getting close. I would like to know which Xerjoff you would recommend as my first to be used for daytime office wear in a professional medical environment.
For sure agree with you on FM. I don't think Guerlain's premium lines don't get enough love in the community. Creed? DK, but I respect it. Fun video as always.
As a huge Bond No 9 fan, the fragrances are way way overpriced, that’s a fair criticism. They just raised the prices on 100ml from $250 to $270!, which is outrageous considering the quality I can get from other niche houses for less now...
Awesome review. Very original and informative. I was always wondering if PDM fragrances were comparable to any designers. On a side note, what is that background music that you're using ? I am really dig'n that as well.
Informative as always bruh, Mancera Sicily is a favorite of mine for summer, smells great and actually performs....I'm so tired of high priced frags that don't perform...no reason for it imho....I mean in the 80's everything was a beast lol so we know they can all make their products to perform atleast for 7 to 8 hours...Lyric man rocks 2, I actually have 2 bottles of this one, one being vintage...I need to wear this one more...
What a great video bro keep up the great work, I loved what you said about Parfum de Marly, yes they smell amazing how niche fragrances are supposed to smell (as far as quality) but not an original smell.
They cover their bases on all levels. That's all. Try their Les Parisiens or L'Art et la Matière stuff too if you get a chance. Thanks for stopping by, Alex! =]
Hey Manny. I am not sure if I missed it but did you factor in the price when ranking these brands ? It would be interesting to know how the rankings will be if all of them are priced say $3/ml and all will come in 50mls.
I ranked these brands as far as what they are good at vs what opposing brands at similar price points are good at. Ex: CC and F and Roja at A because I think for that target market, Roja is way better at those same genres in similar price points. Ya feel?
Most of the current prominent ones aren't the most original, and they're too expensive. That and the good ones like you mentioned are discontinued. Bonafide F-tier for me. Thanks for stopping by! =]
Although I love some Jo Malone and Bond No. 9 fragrances (Myrrh & Tonka and Bleecker Street, respectively) but none of them have surprised me that much to love them. So yeah, an easy F for them. Great video, yet again!
This should be a tag video...I enjoyed it, and for the most part agree with it. It would be interesting to see a Luxe Scents tier video, for the Herme's, Tom Ford's, Armani Prive's, Chanel Exclusives, Dior Exclusives etc.
Great video! I wholeheartedly agree with PdM, while I do like some of their offerings, they are unoriginal and a niche clone house. Funny how clone houses (DUA, AF, PV) get raked over the coals for being unoriginal clone houses, yet those same people glorify and rave about PdM.
Great video. Very interesting where you rank different houses. Future possible video idea for you. You mentioned that Acqua di Parma was a good house but that there are other fragrances out there that are better performers. I would dig a series that was if you like “A” designer/Niche fragrance you should try “B” fragrance. “B”might perform better or do a specific note better, or just be less mainstream. Keep up the great content man.
I'll like an AdP frag, but other fragrances that are completely unrelated yet still in the same genre I may prefer from other brands [is what I was trying to say]. Thanks for the kind words and suggestion, Jeff. Cheers! =]
My reasoning for not doing IA is because I wanted to keep this video only mainstream brands. For me, it's easier to do this because I know all of them fairly well. If I delve into indie-ish stuff, or stuff that doesn't have that much distribution, there's dozens, hundreds of brands that I am less familiar with. Thank you so much! =]
S-tier should have Areej Le Doré and Bortnikoff. A-tier or actually maybe B-tier should include House of Matriarch and possibly Bodacious the Victorious right?
I don't own that many niche fragrances to rank and haven't smelled that many to even speak about it. It's because I don't have balls to try the testers without any intention to buy any of them. And, I would buy the fragrances online for better deals. Also, I don't wanna get stinky eyes from sales people. You know what I mean? That's why I watch fragrance reviews for blind buys. I won't buy any fragrances for a while in the near future, but I know I will pull a trigger soon. That's why it is important to find reviewers with similar taste to mine. So far, I can count on you and I buy your words for the rankings. Peace.
Any chance you may be updating this list or making a new Video for 2021 ? Unless not much has changes ( Bond no 9 has got worse for me , didnt know if that was even possible :P I wonder if itll even make the F tier now)
I sometimes forget that Guerlain is considered niche, mostly due to the price that you can find the more popular ones for online. The only thing I haven't liked from them was Habit Rouge. Big fan of L'Instant de Guerlain and Vetiver especially.
I would rank them close to yours, out of this list I own more Creeds at 9 bottles so far. I can’t say that with other houses. But definitely some will get into the collection. Enjoyed this tier list so thanks again Manny! 😊
Hi Manny, have you tried any of the Nishane line? I would recommend some from there for a review, like Hundred silent ways, Ambra Calabria & Fan your flames.
I have featured Nishane offerings in the past. Love them! However, I wanted to keep this list more of that mainstream, I can get this at Saks, Holt's, or Harvey Nichols-esque niche kinda list. Thanks for stopping by! =]
Those ones each aren't directly a singular clone of anything, but could be directly influenced from maybe a few. Carlisle being more original than the other two. Ex: Herod has a little bit of Tobacco Vanille, Spicebomb, etc... Thanks for stopping by, James! =]
Dope content I don’t really disagree with your list or reasons why you had that order. A dope list would be your favorite or top fragrance from each house and the designer that is closest to resembling the niche fragrance. 👍🏿
From Atelier Cologne if you're searching for something other than a freshie try Vanile Insensee. Diptyque went into B tier with the release of Tempo and then back into C after their new "Minthe". Would have expected ELdO to be in B tier but otherwise great list.
What about lartisan parfumier aren’t they one of the older more established niche brands also where was tiziana tirenzi I feel those are serious houses to miss out I suppose they are not as popular but where do they rank
Fun video brother. I wonder if there would be a super "super" tier that includes Areej le Dore, Dmitri Bortnikov, and a couple other extreme niche perfume makers. Cheers,
i recognize you must have pretty high standards and i can respect that but me personally im happy with my b/c tier brands that i use on a daily basis. would love to try creed at some point but rn im still looking to expand my diptyque/byredo collection.
They got the quality for the most part along with the variety, but they're not in S-tier because the brands I have in S do "move" me more emotionally, so to speak. Thanks for stopping by! =] And no Parfums Vintage.
Ha. 'been talking about the CC takeover of Crown Perfumery for years now, and it's good to see I'm not alone. (CP used to be fantastic and I respect them a great deal, but no update of their formulas [or their packaging, for that matter, even though it looks identical] can warrant that level of spike in price, imo).
Yeah! I went to a Clive Christian release party at my local Saks last year and some of us were discussing that takeover of Crown too. Definitely not warranted price-wise, yes. Thanks for stopping by, Dana. Hope all is well! =]
Phenomenal video! I like the tier concept similar to making tiers of what credit cards to get 😂 I too have an emotional attachment to Creed and starting to develop one for Guerlain-just got back from Europe and was able to get my nose on a lot of their of offerings
I will take Dior and Channel bottles over the entire lineup of ALL brands mentioned here if I were given the choice. As for the videos, I enjoyed tis niche version mo better! You go, PACMANN ;)
Wow you definitely thru me off guard with having GUERLAIN all the way in the top. From my personal experience, and watching other UA-cam videos I’ve seen, SMELLED & tried two bottles which was L’INSTANT De GUERLAIN & L’HOMME IDEAL. By that being said I was really not pleased at all with the performance & longevity of the fragrances. I’ve seen it talked about it too & they pretty much say the same thing. Maybe I haven’t tried other GUERLAIN fragrances that are worth being a S tier fragrance?? Or maybe their is another type of GUERLAIN idk I’m very confused tbh hahaha. Other than that awesome video man👍🏽. (P.s. if there is a GUERLAIN fragrance that is worthy of being rank S please let me know which ones there are I would really want to get to the bottle of this & explore this house more!)
I'd swap creed with Mfk easily!! Mfk has a lot of quality offerings which I love wayyyy more than any of the creeds which don't even last on me for the price I'm paying Apart from that a very well put together list!!👍🏻
I agree once I went to Creed, I stopped buying other houses. They are just so naturally smelling. When I went back to PDM now, they all smell so synthetic to me and overpowering. End of the journey for me.
GOD TIER LEVEL CONTENT VIDEO PART II! This was awesome, no holds barred, take no prisoners straight up honesty this community sorely lacks. This video would be stickied were it in a forum. Well done, your thoughts were clear, concise and informative. I agree with everything you said except about Parfums de Marly (they should be rated below F)- to me, they are an over glorified, overpriced clone house, in the world of niche they are guilty of the biggest crime i.e they are inauthentic, time and time again they flagrantly copy others hard work, for this reason I will never give them a cent of my money and will forever refer to them as "that clone house pdm". Fire video though, i will refer back to it often.
I couldn’t help but think that Layton had a designer feel to it but hey that’s prob why the mass population loves it. Real frag heads might be like oh it’s not groundbreaking
Interesting list! I'm somewhat surprised by the Frederic Malle pick but considering that I haven't tried Musc Ravageur or Portrait of a Lady (which people say it could also be worn by men) I will just take your word for it :D
Dope list. Yeah, def agree with bond no 9 lmao
Bond = wackness, yes. Thank you so much! =]

Bro you killed this once again! Honestly one of the best videos in youtube fragcomm history. So entertaining and comprehensive. Cheers Manny!
Thank you so much! I'm so flattered by this. Salute! =]
Any chance you may be updating this list or making a new Video for 2021 ? Unless not much has changes ( Bond no 9 has got worse for me , didnt know if that was even possible :P I wonder if itll even make the F tier now)
Too real! Love that you’re not stanning for the big brands and giving real info!
Thank you so much! Cheers, Brad! =]
I sometimes forget that Guerlain is considered niche, mostly due to the price that you can find the more popular ones for online. The only thing I haven't liked from them was Habit Rouge. Big fan of L'Instant de Guerlain and Vetiver especially.
Equally great Guerlain scents in my opinion right there! Thanks for stopping by! =]
Le Labo would be Line G along with Byredo and By Kilian. Nice video!
Thank you so much, Rui! Cheers! =]
I would rank them close to yours, out of this list I own more Creeds at 9 bottles so far. I can’t say that with other houses. But definitely some will get into the collection. Enjoyed this tier list so thanks again Manny! 😊
Thank you so much, Edwin! Salute! =]
Please try Jo Malone’s Myrrh & Tonka if you haven’t. It’s DOPE! And the newest from Atelier Cologne... Pacific Lime👌🏾
Pacific lime is nice just the performance
This is a super interesting watch. Both this and the designer version gives a nice overview of the brands.
Thank you so much! I try! =]
I was interested to hear that parfum de marly are clones. What would you say are the clones of carlise and layton and herod??
Those ones each aren't directly a singular clone of anything, but could be directly influenced from maybe a few. Carlisle being more original than the other two. Ex: Herod has a little bit of Tobacco Vanille, Spicebomb, etc...
Thanks for stopping by, James! =]
Dope content I don’t really disagree with your list or reasons why you had that order. A dope list would be your favorite or top fragrance from each house and the designer that is closest to resembling the niche fragrance. 👍🏿
Thank you for the kind words and suggestion! Cheers, Moses. =]
So on point Manny! Fan of your content
Did you use a one punch man power scaling lol,I'm broke to buy any of these but the list is dope
Thank you so much! =]
Ohh waoo... what a great way to express your taste in fragrances. Thumbs up buddy.
Thank you so much! =]
From Atelier Cologne if you're searching for something other than a freshie try Vanile Insensee. Diptyque went into B tier with the release of Tempo and then back into C after their new "Minthe". Would have expected ELdO to be in B tier but otherwise great list.
That's a decent vanilla, but that and/or the others don't "move" me enough emotionally, so far... :P
Thank you so much! =]
Was hoping to see Initio on here. Definitely one of my favorite houses
What about lartisan parfumier aren’t they one of the older more established niche brands also where was tiziana tirenzi I feel those are serious houses to miss out I suppose they are not as popular but where do they rank
Bruh, I unfairly and accidentally whiffed on the brands. I'd have each brand in B or C TBH! Great stuff either way though. Thanks for stopping by!
Agree with what you say, Creed is definitely another level to the rest.
Fun video brother. I wonder if there would be a super "super" tier that includes Areej le Dore, Dmitri Bortnikov, and a couple other extreme niche perfume makers. Cheers,
Thank you so much, and for the suggestion. Cheers, fam! =]
I’m with you on Creed - great video
Thank you so much! Creed gives me those feels, yes! =]
i recognize you must have pretty high standards and i can respect that but me personally im happy with my b/c tier brands that i use on a daily basis. would love to try creed at some point but rn im still looking to expand my diptyque/byredo collection.
Guerlain is out of the world hands down, their private line is gorgeous
Guerlain FTW! Thank you so much! =]
Xerjoff how u really feel? I think they rule.wheres parfums vintage?
They got the quality for the most part along with the variety, but they're not in S-tier because the brands I have in S do "move" me more emotionally, so to speak. Thanks for stopping by! =]
And no Parfums Vintage.
Excellant idea for a video Manny! Loved the rankings and suggestions. Gives me more info on what I gotta my nose on.
Thank you so much. I try! =]
(no need to count me for the vials)
Yeah! I went to a Clive Christian release party at my local Saks last year and some of us were discussing that takeover of Crown too. Definitely not warranted price-wise, yes. Thanks for stopping by, Dana. Hope all is well! =]
@@CascadeScentsOh, I stop by often on some of you big guys' channels, albeit unseen.. call me an unintentional lurker :)
Unique kind of ranking 👍
Thank you so much! =]
Good video... can you do a Top 10 Best Quality for the Price.. not be budget or if you love it. Just the quality of the fragrance compare to price
Would you lump initio with PDM I guess?
Amouage is something that is so enigmatic to me. I love the journey I go on, and since they last forever, the journey is long af
Well my friend, I salute you!! I would probably put mfk a bit higher and Frédéric Malle a bit lower but other than that I totally agree.
Thank you so much! I try! =]
I really enjoy your content.
Say it as you see it and and straight to the point by not wasting time.
I do enjoy this video.
Shaheem Cape Town
What is Galloway a clone of? Curious
Lalique White for the most part. I don't get what he says about Herod and Layton tho
Would be kinda interesting to see you do one of these tier videos for clone houses and how you'd rank them
I'll save that for a creator who is more remotely interested in clones! But it would be lovely to see. Thanks for the suggestion, Sam!
Phenomenal video! I like the tier concept similar to making tiers of what credit cards to get 😂 I too have an emotional attachment to Creed and starting to develop one for Guerlain-just got back from Europe and was able to get my nose on a lot of their of offerings
Creed and Guerlain FTW! Thank you so much! =]
This was a great vid, shocked I agreed with so many lol. I gotta say I would love to see an Indie niche vid too
Thanks for the kind words and suggestion! Cheers, Drew! =]
Awesome video! Big thumbs up 👍🏻👍🏻 Guerlain 🔥🔥
Thank you so much! Guerlain FTW! =]
I will take Dior and Channel bottles over the entire lineup of ALL brands mentioned here if I were given the choice. As for the videos, I enjoyed tis niche version mo better! You go, PACMANN ;)
Thank you so much, fam! =]
Bottom*
Kilian deserves to be S tier and Creed deserves to be B tier. Xerjoff in A.
Other than that I kind of agree.
I'd swap creed with Mfk easily!!
Mfk has a lot of quality offerings which I love wayyyy more than any of the creeds which don't even last on me for the price I'm paying
Apart from that a very well put together list!!👍🏻
Thank you so much, Kinjal! =]
I agree once I went to Creed, I stopped buying other houses. They are just so naturally smelling. When I went back to PDM now, they all smell so synthetic to me and overpowering. End of the journey for me.
Super Awesome list! But no INITIO PARFUM?! Blessings from Miami FL!
Just rewatched the video in 2021 ... how the mighty have fallen (looking at you Creed) ... Is it D or E? xD
Really feeling this vid and the designer one. Super creative!
Thank you so much! =]
Great video. Loved the idea on the ranking fir fragrance houses.
Thank you so much Andy! =]
PdM FTL, hahaha. Thank you so much! I'm so flattered by this. Salute! =]
I couldn’t help but think that Layton had a designer feel to it but hey that’s prob why the mass population loves it. Real frag heads might be like oh it’s not groundbreaking
Facts. Thanks for stopping by! =]
Interesting list! I'm somewhat surprised by the Frederic Malle pick but considering that I haven't tried Musc Ravageur or Portrait of a Lady (which people say it could also be worn by men) I will just take your word for it :D
Thank you so much! FM FTW! =]
Very good list but...Nishane??
Thank you for the niche version! Both great videos
Thank you so much! =]
Nice list, Manny! And a cool idea in general. Here's to hoping the haters hold fast.
Thank you so much! I try! =]
Solid list, I agree with most of your picks
