That option should have been on the PS3 version from the beginning.
I'm afraid that's pretty much the only upgrade other than faster loading and slightly better graphics. But if you don't have it on PS3/VITA, then no reason not to get the PS4 version.

Vexen Man there is a problem with both of the soundtracks, some of the old tracks are dull and get anoying, yet some of the remastered tracks are rubbish. it's sad.

Cursedwind LOL. I only did it for this video to show ti graphics. Plus this was a short video. 1080 takes FAR TO LONG to render and upload. Most of my videos will be in 720.

I'm Super Cereal Yeah, it might be for challenges like the no-sphere grid or something. Obviously I'm not saying just get rid of the cutscenes altogether. Just give the option to skip, satisfies everyone: those who want to do different challenges and those that want to relive the story we all love.

I really liked FFX, but I had enough with the PS2 version (my first PS2 game ever). Despite of that, I`m glad that you can pass the data from PS3 to PS4 and the original soundtrack is back.

The original battle theme may sound better at first but it gets annoying after awhile imo. The arranged version ages better throughout the game and doesn't get annoying. Personally, there's really not that many songs where the original version sounds better (and the ones that don't honestly aren't bad, just not as good). Take off the nostalgia goggles, you know it's true.
I agree with you for about 90% of the songs. PS2 wins a few match ups tho

Once again, I agree with you--this time on the music. Now, I love music more than I love gaming, so I will pay attention to the songs for damn sure. I don't have a PS4, but back when I got the PS3 version, THIS (0:47) was the option they should've gave us from the get-go, even if it was DLC! A lot of the songs in the "remastered" soundtrack just DO NOT compare to the original arrangements! They're okay.... but they weren't necessary.

Hey DK, quick question. A lot of your more recent videos have this sort of white haze over it like you increased the gamma of the video. Is this on purpose or is it just a bit too much editing because while it's not overly annoying, it does degrade the video quality.
I'd say they brought some of the facial expressions back. It's not perfect, but it's certainly a hell of a lot better in most places.

There are some clearly noticeably *graphical improvements* to a lot of the textures as well as the particle and lighting effects.
However, to really do the game (and the PS4) justice, I think they *should have completely replaced the models* with ones on par with (or better than) the cutscenes and then render everything in-engine rather than use the pre-rendered cutscenes. The whole thing would look better, and it would have a better flow.
I'd have also liked the option to *toggle to the original Japanese* voice-over tracks. Almost every line of English dialog makes me cringe, though I don't lay the blame entirely on the actors; I know there are others in charge of voice direction and such. Still, the original audio would have been a nice option.
Have you got the PC version? There's a feature they added where you can speed the game up. Very nice for people who don't have a lot of time on their hands.
Thank god cause when I watched a walkthrough of the HD remaster I hated how they murdered all the beautiful music like why did y'all f*ck with it? Was glad I still had my original PS2 disk of the game. Don't get why they didn't just do that with the PS3 version but better late than never I guess.
Changes so far: higher quality original soundtrack compared to PS2, even better graphics added ssao more vibrance more AA and more Re-textures across enemies AND More NPC with retextures faces.
There much more subtle changes than you think. Much better than the PS3 version, also the main characters faces is slightly reworked etcetc
I didn't really mind the arranged soundtrack, I like some of them better, like the main battle theme.
So when do you plan on uploading the No Sphere Grid if you have recorded until meeting Rikku? Also is it possible to beat the dark aeons on No Sphere Grid unless you upgrade your Aeons using the Aeon soul?
I don't have any issues with the new music, other than the old having more nostalgia...

Bro do you use elgato to record your videos from the ps4? i'm thinkin of buying elgato hd60 so i can record videos longer than 15 mins. i am a new youtuber and been following you for a while so i am also making more videos as well.
I believe the "watered down" look has to do with the fact that in the OG PS2 version, their facial animations were simply animated textures when viewed from a distance. This was kind of their default memory saving state. However when they needed to feature a character in a conversation, they would go to a rigged face that would actually move about. The main characters were the only ones to get the detail treatment, which is why when all the Ronso are singing on Mt. Gagazet, it looks fucking laughable. However in the remaster it looks like they've just used a very rudimentary animation between an open mouth and closed mouth mesh.
I think it looks like that because the composite connection to the card is running on limited colors while you have the display set to full. I mean the side effects of it look exact, really washed out dark tones.
You know it's a real fucking shame they STILL haven't implemented the skip cutscene function. I personally felt that was the biggest problem with the ps3 version of the game. I'd be down to watch a blind Last of Us LP if you were to get around to doing it. The games pretty damn good.
you can turn off the HDCP in the PlayStation 4 settings, that way you can a HDMI capture card

I can name a song after hearing the opening few notes....I can tell the difference between the Weird Al version of a song and the original right away...and I did not notice a difference in the composition on my PS3 version of X. Maybe I am not a hardcore fan of X.

What are you connecting your component cables to? I have a Dell projector that wouldn't allow me to use the HD DVD player on the 360 unless I went through component (games played just fine using HDMI), and it hit 1080p just fine.

Hey DK, You can buy a HDMI Splitter that bypasses the protection for recording.
I got one recently off amazon.
Actually I forgot that you could disable the hdcp but this splitter works well for the ps3
What happens if you turn on your own music from your thumb drive? Does the game allow it? Does the music just awkwardly play over the in game music?
Idk why but I always laugh whenever I see that much damage done to an enemy at early stages of the game...that chaos grenade though.
We both bought it for the PS3, the PS4, and will buy it again if they put it out for the PS5 lol.

This is exactly why I started saving for a good pc the moment the PS4/Xbone were announced. Only 3 exclusives that I was interested in are not enough to coerce me into buying a console I wouldn't use for anything else. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to fight Randy Savage dragons and enjoy DS2 Scholar which wasn't held hostage by the two new shit systems.

Does anyone know if you buy a PS4 and have FFX-HD downloaded from the PS store for the PS3, will I have to purchase a new download of FFX-HD for the PS4 as well, or will the current download kind of "transfer" without having to purchase again?

kingdomhearts masterxx Not likely, it costs money to port games, and XB1's general audience isn't likely to be interested, its been a Sony exclusive game since its inception, in a genre that does notably better on said system. Also don't see why after your lifetime they would ever release this game on a long dead console.
The console isn't dead for 15 million player playing on Xbox one that's good its just the general audience appeals to ps4 more because it actually a gaming console

Well all fine and well but I got the PS2 and 3 Version and that's really enough. Those lazy dumb guys at Square/Enix better start of doing proper HD Remakes of Final Fantasy VII and XII...ASAP!!! Everybody wants those...
My Biggest issue with the remasters is in 10-2 they ruined catnip.
***** X-2 HD was pretty easy up to Floor 80, that one takes a good strategy and of course for Paragon and Trema, if you do a 100% playthrough on the 1st run (I did) you can use 3x Mascot or you can just cheese the whole thing by using monsters.
I was scared about this too, but it actually wasn't horrible. The international version makes it MUCH easier to get other good accessories (adamantite, ragnarok) and I had TWELVE (count em, TWELVE) iron dukes at the end of my file. On a first time playthrough. Not bad right? So with the right setup even without the iron dukes, trema/via Infinito is a total joke. Now the last couple of cups.... That's another thing.
Well yeah but by the time you start farming Major Numerus for Iron Dukes there is really no point, unless you want to max out all your toons with hp lol. 20 Iron Dukes per win (use the garment grid that gives you the rare drops, forgot what it was called)
OwtDaftUK They nerfed Cat Nip in the original International version but there are other benefits that, in my opinion, more than make up for it:
1) *The exclusive dresspheres*: While Festivialist is easily the worst dressphere in the game (do appreciate the addition though), Psychic is stupid broken. You can acquire it in the first 30 mins, it learns all of the Eater abilities (except Holy) so most magic does absolutely nothing, has the highest M.Def out of every class (even higher than the White Mage and with more HP too), Telekinesis instantly kills 90% of the enemies in the entire game, Excellence makes you temporarily invincible and requires no MP, and Teleport lets you move behind an enemy (except for certain battles) to take advantage of the Back Damage bonus. The only downside is that the Psychic class has fairly low physical Defense (not nearly as bad as White Mage though and can be remedied with Garment Grids and/or Protect) and its exclusive damaging techniques don't pack a very big punch late game.
2) *The Creature Creator*: Okay, this feature is an awesome addition to the battle system. You can sacrifice someone (or more if you want) in your party and replace them with a monster or with other people. You can even use characters from FFX (except Wakka for some reason) and have them fight for you.
OwtDaftUK It's still abusable. It requires a very different strategy, but with the right set up, Catnip can still be a game breaker.

i honestly didnt notice the music change that much, if you say its differnt i belive you but i never noticed it...also no sphere grid? dude i couldnt get past Gagazet/Zanarkand i tried every tick in the book but to no avail. good luck with that shit man =]
MrExcalibur2 I didn't notice the soundtrack change at all, but I hadn't played the original in years... time to switch it because the original is amazing.
