Hey Tim may your father rest in peace, I'm 79 and when we bought a plot of land near a village here in Vietnam, we shopped there had the M/C fixed etc. but most in portent we made friends. I was lucky to find a chap my age who spoke very good english, we met because when I was in the UK my Vietnamese wife injured her foot, a lady from the temple took care of here at our home. So I took a bottle wine and whiskey to the family to say thank you to all of them. The family had many parties to remember passing relatives, these would start of solemnly and then at a certain time the whiskey would come out and the music would hot up. I asked about this and the reply was. we are sad they passed but we are now remembering how they were. He became very sick and many of his family flew back from Toronto and Boston where they had immigrated to, two days later he passed away. The gathering that night started very quietly and then a certain tune started, it was the one he used to get the party's moving. He had asked that it be played when he passed. A large whisky was placed on his coffin.
@@TimBatSea Tim, think of the good times. Share them with us from time to time if you would like. Lot's of us have been there also your program has reminded me of my boating days and I thank you for that. Stay safe out there.
In all my many years of running boats, good ship handling was always my favorite puzzle; how can I do this better? Will this work? How am I going to pull this off? etc. This is my lane, and this is gold, Cap Tim. Sweet. Also, sorry about your dad. I can tell he was a winner just by watching you.
Sorry for your loss Captain Tim. My condolences, I know how you feel. My Father passed in 2017 and it was rough for me! I miss talking to him. I care about both of your channels, the way you explain things reminds me of my Dad. CUOTO ❤
beautifully done Tim, as usual you keep calm and make it look easy- despite us knowing how hard that was. Condolences on the loss of your dad, I lost mine 9 years ago and it still hurts.
Lots of prep went into this docking. So much to know and implement. Right down to throwing "a substantial line". That crew will learn . I always enjoy these detals.
Great share Capt. Tim! As ever, thank you for taking us aboard - somewhere there are folks who would re-watch the inside-the-wheelhouse view, and I can appreciate that - totally not why I keep up with Patreon; I know this is a rare privilege and I am not paying enough to get the experience and wisdom that you offer the deck crew! Just keep doing it as best you can, with the style and smoothness we have come to admire! CUOTO ~__/)__* Love and Grief are parts of the same spectrum** Prayers for pop!

My Dear Father passed away suddenly at the age of 70 twenty years ago and still mourn him... Such as yourself Tim he also worked on the tugboats as well as a Chief Engineer in NY harbor for 35 years... I understand what you're absolutely going through.. It ain't easy but nevertheless life goes on. You take care of yourself and watch yourself... There's only one Capt. Tim... Again, Our Deepest Condolences and Sympathy... There's no other words in the American Lexicon to describe the loss of a loved one.... Love, George and Irene Stouraites Andros, Greece.
George and Irene. Thank you! That may be the nicest, most thoughtful thing anyone has ever written on here. I really appreciate it! Thank you very much. CUOTO
Was easy to see how the wind was blowing. Been sailing for 40 years and sometimes docking can be challenging. Patience results in a good outcome. Enjoy your videos
Never easy losing a loved one. It is perfectly natural even though it feels like crap. We all have to go through it. You are not alone Tim. Life is short, difficult times will always await us. So when things are going good (and they will be again) enjoy the heck out of it. Hope your old man found peace buddy and I hope you are doing ok.
I understand losing your father. I lost mine when I was about your age. I’m so sorry for your loss. You did a masterful job of docking this barge. I’m always thoroughly impressed with your expertise and your professionalism as a captain. Thank you for sharing your life with us here and SVPaquita
Tim. Sorry to hear about your Dad. That's always a tough loss. Only time can heal that. Always enjoy your efforts, and I appreciate your hanging in there and working through your industries' changes. Good on ya Pal. well done. Cheers, Mike.
Beautiful job under tough conditions. Goes to show it’s not always inclement weather that can bite ya, tides, winds and vessel dynamics are always factors. The way you’re going to handle the lack of heaving line at the ready with the crew is the mark of great captain. Sorry to hear about your Dad, very difficult to deal with, been there myself. Head up, stay safe.
Sorry for your loss, I have heard you speak very well of him several times so he must have been a great man. I am sure he is watching over you in all that you do. This was a tricky operation in this video. Would it have worked to go beyond the dock and work into the wind on your way into the dock? It would have still been tricky with the wind pushing you continually and you would have to hit it just right.
Thank you very much for your kind words. I really appreciate them! Yes. Going beyond the dock would have helped. I don't know that it would have changed the outcome, but it would have helped. CUOTO
Tim, my condolences. Stay well and safe out there. Was going to ask why not to use a heaving line, I've made a habit of bringing one even when conditions indicate I won't need it to catch the first line. Saved my ass and the guys steering a few times from a reapproach.
Thank you very much for watching. Yeah, and there are a few right there on that barge as well. But the guys are young. Maybe they had more pressing things on their minds. CUOTO
Tim , May your Dad RIP and you will cherish loving memories when he was with you. I lost my dad when I was 30 and his memories still allow me happiness when I’m 76. Stay strong Captain.

We were backing the tug out on a very windy day from our berth, it pulled to port and wind was from starboard and we gave the pier a good bump at full reverse. Then a full a ahead to compensate we puffed lots of black smoke that day. The tug was 205 feet long.
May your father rest in peace. Lost my father last year. Still the most painfull thing ive ever been through. We have to live everyday knowing the great men they were, and they will continue to watch over us.
My sincere condolences on the loss of your dad Capt. Changing the subject I find it unreal there is no heaving line available??? In spite of this you did a nice job getting alongside safely! Looking forward to the next one>
Tim: I am very sorry to hear about your dad passing. I know that you had a close bond with him. We pray that he is in a better place. I recently lost my wife of 60 years. I remember all the good times. You should do the same. He is with God and enjoying the forever life. God Bless!!
Great explanation how you maneuver the barge into the slip. Maybe you were hoping for it to be easier, but seems you expected the tug to have to settle against the opposite dock, to make the twist. Makes sense the rake on barge's bow along with the barge's deck height can deceive how close the side of the barge is to the dock. Appears critical not to crash the barge into the fuel pipe infrastructure. This is serious business!
My condolences on the loss of your dad... in a future episode maybe you can tell us about him? Veteran? Seafarer? Looks like he did a good job raising you... like to hear about him! Nice job bringing that barge in against what looks like a ton of breeze. Not an easy task! Well done!

🙏🙏 sorry to hear about your dad, a man that I barely knew. I just met maybe week prior, when my sister passed last year he gave me a card. His family signed it. In front of it said memories. and he also put $20 in it. So now every time I think of my sister I think about the nice gesture of that man. And we are now friends.🙏
Thank you very much Chris. I appreciate that. CUOTO
Nice video Tim. See you on the next one.

Tim i have a friend from Brooklyn I've known for decades. You and her dad are so similar. Similar accent, speech patterns, hair... every time you talk i hear her dad.
He is a brilliant and handsome man! (You know? The guy that looks like me) 😂 Thank you very much for watching. CUOTO
