1944
When strangers are coming...
They come to your house,
They kill you all
and say,
We’re not guilty
not guilty.
Where is your mind?
Humanity cries.
You think you are gods.
But everyone dies.
Don't swallow my soul.
Our souls
Yaşlığıma toyalmadım
Men bu yerde yaşalmadım
Yaşlığıma toyalmadım
Men bu yerde yaşalmadım
We could build a future
Where people are free
to live and love.
The happiest time.
Where is your heart?
Humanity rise.
You think you are gods
But everyone dies.
Don't swallow my soul.
Our souls
Yaşlığıma toyalmadım
Men bu yerde yaşalmadım(I couldn’t spend my youth there because you took away my peace)
Yaşlığıma toyalmadım
Men bu yerde yaşalmadım
vatanima toyalmadim

Just so happy this won, so unique, so beautiful, so powerful and a refreshing change
Agreed! I love this song.
👍👍
👍
:)
+Mark Reeves It's very nicely for ukrainian ♥
That rare moment when a winning song on Eurovision has real substance, depth and beauty. Jamala, you are amazing!
i realize Im kinda randomly asking but does anybody know of a good website to stream new movies online?
@Thomas Nixon Try flixzone. Just search on google for it :)
@Roberto Elias Yea, I have been using FlixZone for years myself :)
@Roberto Elias Thank you, I signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :D I really appreciate it!
@Thomas Nixon no problem =)
And here we have the winner of Eurovision 2016, if it has an emotive performamce it will be a clear victory. Congratulations!!!👍
Totally agree!
+Emilio Martínez This song is against the rules: "No lyrics, speeches, gestures of a political or similar nature shall be permitted during the Eurovision Song Contest."
And btw, I'm not defending Stalin, he was not communist.
+Dill Sulix This truly don't mention anything of Crimea and Russia, so this can compite perfectly, in spite of everybody understands the metaphor and about who talks. Like Hungary last year ;)
+Trash Gamer I don't understand that, sorry ;(
+Dill Sulix It's not politics. It's history.
About time. A imperfect record. No autotune/pitch correction vocals. Real, soulful, organic, and raw. You have to have Special ears for this sound.
Love, luck, achivement, wealth, peace and other good things upon on dear Crimean Tatars and Ukrainian people, Regards from Azerbaijan
+Javidan Muradov sağ ol qardaşım
Thank you! Coh saulog bol, arkadash! Sizge ve epsi shiy yahshi bolsun
+yetideti sen tatarmisin ?

+Javidan Muradov thank u!
First time my favourite won the contest.
Amazing song
+Epizooka Same :P
+Spectral Nexus Same honestly ♡ She was always my favourite
Beautiful melody. Don't know what's wrong with the haters' hearing.
+Baka Iggy The song is a "bit" political - so it seems that he russians don't like it
There are a lot of hate on every year's winner, no wonder...
Her live performance is quite not good imho. Mostly I didn't understand the lyrics on her performance. Maybe that's one of the reasons why people hate it.
Personally, I don't think anyone's live was as good as their recording except for the special effects. Italy, France and Austria had non-English songs but they are not getting any hate.
Most people I've seen are calling her song boring, which I don't see how. Yeah sure, it's not upbeat or party themed but the beat and her vocals were really powerful.
this song isn't everyone's cup of tea. I liked it tho.
At first I didn't like this song, but after listening to it now I see how unique and beautiful it is, and how strong the message is! This isn't my favorite from this year's Eurovision, but it's a worthy winner. Well done Jamala!
Jamala to Eurovision please!
+Dennsh Totally agree! It was tragedy that year both Jamala (Smile) and Zlata (The Kukushka) were left behind for a commercial, soulless entry.
+Marcelo Nayar ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
done)
+Max Pavlov Thank you Ukraine
+Dennsh thanks for your support!
Is she Crimean Tatar?
Yes she is :)
Thanks. Interesting! The language seems to be really Turkish when reading and hearing.
+fi vantvcs Turkish and Crimean Tatar are mutually intelligible, so yes it sounds like Turkish :)
the translation of crimean tatar part in turkish for example:
Yaşlığıma toyalmadım / *Gençliğime doyamadım
Men bu yerde yaşalmadım / Ben bu yerde yaşayamadım
Vatanıma toyalmadım / Vatanıma doyamadım
*We use another word for "yaşlık", but that is somewhat intelligible.
By the way, what's the english translation of it?
+Gerzsenyi Richárd
Yaşlığıma toyalmadım / I couldn't get enough of my youth
Men bu yerde yaşalmadım / I couldn't live in this place
Vatanıma toyalmadım / I couldn't get enough of my homeland
(Anton Šerstiuk)

Superb song. I love this song. My favourite for the first semi-final. So authentic, so touching.
As a person who had to leave home in Luhansk 2 years ago, I can understand what Crimean Tatars are feeling.
Yaşlığıma toyalmadım
Men bu yerde yaşalmadım....
What a beautiful song! The best this year! Listening again and again...

Congratulations From Portugal, what a masterpiece :D
especially the world is suffering right now with so many problems and people can relates different feeling to this song
That's true. There is a lot of pain and suffering coming to many nations from Russia.
+kalashnik3 no one mentioned Russia....
+kalashnik3 during this conversation no one except you mentioned Russia so that means you are to turn us against Russian
+Beatrice Martinez trying to turn us against us*
BS. Russians is currently fighting my country Ukraine. That's a fact. And I just told you what the song is about. That's also a fact.
I almost cried when I heard this!
Thank you Ukraine and bless the Tatars!
Tatars was in all of their history murders with no mercy on evry innocent perasents in theriotory of modern Ukraine in case and by of his islam religion as exused to do worst things things, i think this is not the last Judgment on this people of God.
@Matthew Williams Read about history of Tatars in east of Poland - they was making slaves and brutaly murder peasants who was defended by commonweath.
@Matthew Williams They was so brutal and full of cruel that as only possible.
First question: form what you search sources?
@Matthew Williams So you eman english wikipedia?
Congratulations for this beautiful song! The winner of the Eurovision Song Contest in 2016! Greetings from Hungary,Jamala!

Hey you, shut your mouth. Jam such pitiful people like you. Russia and Ukraine - the brothers. do not go, that God gave not a brain wit!!!!!!!!!!!!!
forget about a brotherhood….
WOW !! Now is my fav :)
12 points from Poland.
Powerful, compelling, and unique. A definition of a master piece. It does not matter what one sings and how, it matter how it makes one feel. This song sends a message and makes you feel... A true artist! Congratulations!!!! So proud!!!!
Depending on how she sings this live (because her accent means it can be tricky to understand her) and how it is staged (though Ukraine always stage things beautifully) then I do feel this could be easily top 5, if not win the whole thing. It is haunting, meaningful, and pure. An absolute stunner and I would love to see this at Eurovision! Bravo Jamala!
Well, she definetely succeeded.
+Nadiia Lysak
+Yulia Filatova 2016 г.
+Nadiia Lysak
Şarkı harikadır!
Bu kadar derin içindekiler için teşekkür ederim!
Başarılar!
This is a masterpiece..
The best song of Eurovision. Love from Lithuania
Loving it! Must win! You're amazing Jamala, and the song is too. I like the whole but my favourite part is the crimean tatar. It's such beautuful language
beautiful**
Agree!
+faellor yot It's Crimean Tatar actually
+Maryam Aksal tatar language is Turkish .. İ am tatar and speaking Turkish !!
+Zeliha Uslu It's not Turkish, because then Azeri can be said is Turkish too but it isn't, right? It's Azeri. But there's something that these languages have in common... and it's that they come from TURKIC roots.
This song is really amazing. It's good it made into the final.
Out of all the entries, I think this is one of the more serious ones, and I very much respect it. :) Good job, Jamala, fantastic!
The only song of this year's Eurovision that gave me chills and made me feel something real. Well deserved win for Ukraine!
omg I thought it was just me who got chills and goosebumps!@
This is the first time that my favourite song has won the Eurovision! GO JAMALA!
me too
what a relief, she beat russia :)
This is unbelievable, just amazing. It has all the potential to win (reminds me to Loreen for the different style, but with much more feeling). Wish you good luck and success from Mexico!
Wow is very nice! Greetings from Poland! ;)
+Ola J-k dziękuję
Good song! Respect for TATAR PEOPLE! from Poland kisses!:)
i'm sorry, but she is crimean tatar, this is not the same as the tatars.
@Matthew Williams idk. whatever tatars and crimean tatars is not same.
you can't stop getting shivers all over your body... Very touching and powerful 😍
amazing song! wish you the best!
greets from Poland :)
+evhino dzięki)
Ukraine already has my vote! 12 points from Armenia!
Do you know the language she is singing in the middle is Turkic? Tatar? :) .. And she is Turkic too. If you know this and like the song you have my respect.
+Sude Sari She is Crimean tatar and her mother is half armenian as I know. ..
+Rocky Blacky yes I know:) she came to Turkey on a talk show. She said that her father is Turkic crimean tatar and mother half armenian. But still she is in love with her turkic roots, she has many songs about her heritage like "Ana Vatan" . Love her
+Sude Sari I heard her say one time that she is proud of the fact that some of her songs have something in common with armenian culture.
+Rocky Blacky and that is what makes her very good person
Crimean tatar language is so similar to Turkish 🇹🇷👏👏 both are Turkic language.
+Bora and his bullshit
true, but I can't find enough sources to learn Crimean Tatar (say, enough to speak A2 level). although I'm ok with Turkish since a couple of years ago
+rwhite022 it is more similar to Azerbaijan Turkic language and Kazakhs Turkic. Because we Turks made reforms on our literature but rest of the Turkic countries didn't so they all similar to each other. l don't know if there are books about Crimean Tatar accent. It's best to go there and learn there if u really wish to.
OMG I thought that it was, because it's so similar language
I love this Song !!! 12 points from Poland brothers!!

Im so happy this one on eurovision I LOVE YOU JAMALA ❤❤❤
btw I cried so much of this
great song. 12 points from turkey :)
I keep coming back to this song. I am glad you won Eurovision, you were my favorite. One of the most touching performances I have ever seen.
Jamal, congratulates the victory. In my opinion, the best performance did you give after receiving statues, full of emotion and you prove that you deserve it ❤️
I have to say this song touches me the most from all the other winners of the competition. Yet I see people complaining. Let me tell you.The first and the third place songs are just "mainstream" , probably hundreds of musicians today is producing same kind , because they know people will love it. But when someone try to put meaning to the song and an astonishing beautiful melody using a little different tunes it happens to be no good. I honestly dissapoint in you , europe. You are losing your openness.
Written by an total outsider from east-asia (home of slanted eyed little people).
2016/06/30
So powerful omg, I admit it, I cry in the end. This song is so beautiful omg
who still thinks this is the best ever song from eurosong
It's so touching with your voice and words. I hope you will win. Greeetings from Turkey!
Love it,greetings from Turkey!!
My favourite song this year. 12 points from UK 👍🏻🇬🇧🇺🇦
Great song. I love how crimean turkish sounds. I even got meaning of some words.
Yaşlığıma toyalmadım / I couldn't get enough of my youth
Ben bu yerde yaşamadım / I couldn't live in this place
Vatanıma toyalmadım / I couldn't get enough of my motherland
+Traveler Fagan Yaşlığıma toyalmadım
Men bu yerde yaşalmadım(I couldn’t spend my youth there because you took away my peace)
Yaşlığıma toyalmadım
Men bu yerde yaşalmadım
vatanima toyalmadim
+Roma Pupilla That is wrong....
Nope, that's true.
Mignon Chaton the 'because you took away my peace' is not the meaning of the sentence. It actually means 'I did not enjoy my youth, i did not live here'. I've studied many Turkic languages so i know. These lyrics are pasted from the eurovision site, and is translated wrong
Yaş almak yaşlanmak anlamına gelir, yaşalmadım derken orda yaşamadım demiyor, ben orada yaşlanamadım anlamı taşır. Lütfen düzeltin
At first I didn't like this song, but when you open your heart and set free your mind you end up loving it. Good luck from Spain. I"ll be following you at 18:00h CET tonight.
Jamala's soulful voice + History + Turkish touch + complementing beat = "1944"
Udachi Jamala iz Filippin!

+John Egan Better Sevastopol
+Michajlo Naumenko Yalta, кримськотатарською 'й' відповідає 'y'
CRIMEA
This will stand out in Eurovision with her powerful and emotional vocal. Good luck!
A unique and beautiful song. a real artist
Such a beautiful and moving song, full of emotion. It was a nice change of pace from all the similar-sounding pop songs that everyone does at Eurovision.
Interesting thing - there is nothing in this song about Russia and Putin, it tells about the crime of Stalin (but even his name isn't mentioned), the crime of dictatorship in general. But i often come across the word "Putin" in comments. It seems like everyone knows who is the biggest dictator of our days.
Biggest dictator is europa. Not Putin, Not erdogan. They are only marionettes. The devil is behinde them and not in front of us.
The HARDKISS
Simply beautiful! the voice and the message.
This lady is Amazing:) Hope she will win!
12 points from my heart always go to You Jamala and Crimean Tatars!!
12 points from Austria
At LONG last a candidate for ESC who can produce a song with lyrics about the craziness and horror in this world/mankind without sounding a bland cliché!! (the last one I remember was Alyosha with her FANTASTIC song of course)
It seems to me that there's an endless source of heartfelt artistry in Ukraine. Respect!!
May whatever gods bless you, brave people.
12 points from Hungary! :) Perfect song.
I really... really... wish she wins! For the sake that she sings it's with all her soul and it means a lot for her! Greetings from Germany! :)
