  • I flew to California to test ride the newest Harley Low Rider ST - we spent the day riding it in California wine country, and as a shorter rider used to smaller bikes, but also having ridden the Road Glide, Street Glide, and Road King, this is my FAVORITE BAGGER YET. Find out why in my review on the first test ride.

I changed my mind!! After riding the Heritage to STURGIS, that one may be my favorite bagger... but... I think I still want something with off-roading capabilities in addition to being touring friendly. What do you think?

I'm having the same dilemma. I have a 2020 Triumph Street Triple RS, but I want a bagger; been looking at the Road Glide and the Road King. Problem is I, too, love offroading and have been looking at the brand new Triumph Tiger 1200. I sat on one at my local dealership and fell in love. Just need to get around to test-riding one. Take care, Doodle!

That is funny that you liked the Heritage so much, Shade Tree Surgeon got a Heritage loaner and taught it was the worse model HARLEY makes. He actually recommended the Sports Glide better which is a more performance oriented Heritage, bags, inverted forks and better brakes. I think you should check that one out and give us a comparison.

The hole in the windscreen mitigates buffeting. Instead of having a giant bubble of lower pressure air behind the windscreen (delta p) the hole directs enough air to reduce or remove the bubble, so it doesn't expand and collapse in your face.

    • @phil4986
      @phil4986 2 роки тому +4

      Yup.
I used to have a Kawasaki Kz550 with a aftermarket huge plastic windshield on it.
I always laughed when it rained because it was my back and the rear of my seat that was soaked .
      Not my front.
That huge circle of air going over the screen and coming around my back also gently pushed me forward at interstate speeds.
When Doodle pointed out the vents ,it made perfect sense.
Use the forward velocity of the bike and guide the air inside the rider area low to push the air pocket to neutral around the rider.
I hope Harley has this patented. It's brilliant.

Well said. A good rider has safety zones colored yellow, orange, and red. Green ends when you raise the garage door. Most unhappy rides occur because a rider was in a red zone behaving as if he's still in the garage putting his helmet on!

I’ve had my ‘23 FXLRS since last August and absolutely love it! I’ve been riding since 1982, and this bike just might be my all time favorite. I’ve done a lot to it. Advanblack ST fairing, and Advanblack hard luggage which have much greater capacity then the FXLRST bags, and are top opening. Also Ohlins suspension, but the stock Showa is actually pretty good, but the Ohlins, OMG! Also S&S 50 state exhaust. I’m having a blast on my first Harley.

Would really love to get one with the new 135ci stage 4 crate engine which I assume will not change the height of it but saving up for it and will take me some time. Right now riding a 2003 anniversary edition FXDWG and a 2020 FXDR 114 and have no problems with either one so after seeing her riding this (at 5'3" height as well) I don't think it would be a problem for either of us. Ive always enjoyed, smaller bikes, 1/2L or more, I bought a big heavy ST last year, weights in at 736lb has amazing wind deflection lots of storage, and is a powerful fun nice handling machine. Baggers rule, they are fast, maneuverable and comfortable. I like long rides with few stops, hard to do on a small bike.

Doodle, if you haven’t ridden the new Heritage softail you really should. It’s light, super comfy and has cruise too. The bags are actually hard. I had a low rider but was never that happy with it. It was the dyna platform from 2015 so a different animal. The heritage actually sits lower. The great thing about these is you can quickly remove windshield, bags or trunk if you want to, then put em back on for a trip. It’s definitely my last Harley I’m finally satisfied.

I bought the FXLRS in 2021 with plans to do exactly what they’ve done to the 2022 FXLRST. I am so mad that they changed the 2022 enough to make it so that I can’t even bolt the fairing onto my bike that’s only a year older. I’ll be getting the bags for sure at some point. Russ Wernimont’s prices are a bit extravagant for me at this time. So, I won’t even be getting the FXR fairing I’ve been wanting so badly. I am grateful to have this nimble Low Rider Special. There’s just so much potential of what I can do to make this bike mine. If only the money was there.

When they brought it back out she bought one right away and I cut a 1/2" out of the seat and dropped it another 3/4" and she won't even let her husband ride either one. Except as b___h!

Riding is my biggest passion and I really enjoy this channel. My girl is a rider too and she's 5"3, so all the help for her with big bikes has been more than helpful. We live in a country where we have beautiful roads with twisties and all, so all the content about harleys is not for us. These are straight lines bikes, too noisy for our taste and too heavy for our riding pleasure. They are very expensive as well compared to bikes offering more for less. Nonetheless we enjoy every vid ! We hope for content on the equipments as the choice is very large:) the differences between shoes costing 300$ and other costing 100$, or what 360 cam should we go for, when there are 500$ cam like insta and go pro and 150$ cams like sjvc and other brands. Keep up the good vids !

I completely disagree! I ride a Road King Special and LOOOVE the twisties! I throw that thing down the road like a CBR lol... And while enjoying the ride, I get the comfort, storage, etc and all the other bagger advantages. Harleys are expensive, but the fit and finish, build quality, paint work, etc is all second to none. Triumph and BMW come close, but nobody can match HD for overall quality. So much more molded plastic, single stage paint, cheaper hardware, etc on nearly every other make.

This is indeed a nice looking motorcycle. Glad you had fun riding it along with the touring class baggers. I have not ridden a soft tail series bike since they upgraded the chassis and suspension a few years ago but I hear very good things about the changes. I went to a bagger 6 years ago when I bought my Road King. It is my favorite motorcycle of all time. I've learned to enjoy how practical, comfortable, powerful, and fun to ride these bikes are. And for large motorcycles, they handle amazingly well.

Great Video - I see your problem. I bet if I rode one I'd have to have it too. I already own a Road Glide standard and there is JUST enough room in the garage to put another bike right next to it.

Hands down the Road king. Knees in the breeze. Test drove the road glide and the street glide. The king is hands down the best. We all forget why we ride. Its wind therapy. Getting away from all the conveniences of modern day life is what riding is all about.

I like my version of the Goldwing, the F6C or Valkyrie. And it is beyond me why they stopped making them. The low rider S interests me, but living in tropical Australia, not so sure about the air cooling systems. Other bikes I like are the rocket and the dark horse, but off those four, still would pick the Valkyrie. Please please please bring out a new model, pretty please.

I really like the looks of that bike but living in Texas and riding in 106 degree summer heat I prefer water cooled engines. I wouldn't consider a Harley bagger until they put the revolution max engine in one. I do believe that will happen at some point. I also believe they should keep air cooled versions available if they do start putting the rev max engine in them. Choice is always a good thing.

I've ridden the Indian Challenger, and Yamaha Star Eluder, both great bikes. I like big full-size baggers and this wouldn't be for me probably. I currently own a Yamaha Royal Star tour deluxe (In the same class as a Road King but bigger slightly) and I'm looking at a second bike. I might test ride one, but the two aforementioned are my lead choices.

Have owned a Heritage Classic and loved it.
Road Glide fairing with Street Glide gauges would seal the deal for me to go back to HD.
I tour on my Tiger 1200, because I like the extra height of the bike and for me it ticks all the comfort boxes. At 6'2" most bikes require modifications that I dont necessarily want to invest in because I switch up every few years. I'm lucky enough to be able to afford to.
