How much malware can you get from ADFLY?

- What happens if we click every ad on ADFLY? (Malware, Fake Extensions and SCAMS!)
Today I'm going to check out monetized link shorteners, commonly used by Minecraft modders as a way of generating additional income.
Unfortunately many of these link shorteners can allow unscrupulous malvertising, and pop up ads. In this video I primarily focus on adfly.

"McAffee should do something about this."
Well, considering literally everyone has met McAffee through an accidental installation, I don't think they give a damn.

I swear to god if I see one more of those “Click Allow Notifications to confirm your not a bot” then I will just throw my computer away
ikrrrrr
It happens to me as well. I just wanted to let the website rot.
I remember on an older phone when I used to click allow and the kind of notifications I would get
There have thankfully been ways to bypass it over the years.
FR! One time, I saw one of those notifications on my school chromebook, and then got adware ):
Every kid trying to get free Minecraft from ~2012-16 be like:
i remember trying to download mods for minecraft when i was little and getting redirected to adfly all the time it was so annoying i swear
I had an xp lended to me. Minecraft played at like 10 fps so my friend suggested I get optifine. He linked me to the mc forum post with the adfly link. I followed the instructions to downloading it(I did not hit the green "download now" buttons)but when I did, it displayed something called "optimum installer" The installer was literally rigged where if i hit no, it was like fuck you imma do it anyway. Gave me a cocktail of shitty malware that I knew how to deal with (ilivid, babylon etc) as well as a fucking nasty trojan called "IRP Hook." Just mde minecraft even more of a frame-skipping mess.
@@noahlovotti7722 damn, thats wild
Me when i was trying to download flash..
Nah for me it was trying to install mods without reading anything and destroying my computer by downloading random jar files. For whatever reason whatever I installed disabled explorer and I had to use system restore to fix it. I didn't even know about custom launchers at the time, so I thought every mod just worked like OptiFine.
Came to see: malware, fake extentions and SCAMS!
what i actually got: someone with quite minimal technical knowledge trying to download malwares and doing it unsuccessfully for 21 minutes
ikr, this was actually frustrating to watch...
to be fair, people with minimal technical knowledge are the main targets of malware
Scams are designed to fool those with little knowledge. The fact that he couldn't get anything to work is actually a good thing.
it was entertaining though
why minimal technical knowledge?
hearing the name adfly in modern day is like the early/mid 2010s minecraft kid equivalent of being a war veteran on the fourth of july
For the kid from Eastern Europe earning monthly 150-200 usd from adfly, well it was a blessing. When I was 13 back in 2010, I made monthly a minimum wage in my country for over a year. My best holidays as a kid 😊
anyone who's ever tried to download sims 4 cc has experienced the hell of adfly
adfly is the bane of game modding. It's a parasite to both Sims AND Minecraft 💀💀
Yea every time I see adfly I immediately click off and try to find a better mod lmfao ☠️
I remember when the sims community would defend the adfly people and then cry about malware/broken downloads later
I use modthesims. No ads, just mods. I've never had an issue
Idk why my comments keep disappearing.
I use modthesims. Idk why youtube thinks that needs to be censored.

Thank goodness most have switched to Google drive.
Adfly is so nostalgic to me and idk why Lol. Always had to go through it to download texture packs and mods.

yeah it looks like one big sketch download button

I pressed a ok download button on adfly. Luckily it brought me to the game I was getting mods for, but please pray I didn’t get the virus.

adfly bricked my computer
I’m not even joking
Completly forgot about adfly existing.
Me downloading the most random shit to the family computer when I was 7:
download free ram lmao
Almost fell for one when I was younger, I needed more ram to run a mod pack… (thank god I didn’t download free ram)
@@hamburger_eatspie Well, assuming you were on a desktop PC that had four ram slots of which at least two were empty (probably true for most of gen-Z and some b4), it usually literally was as easy as typing the exact EAN or model number written on its label into any search engine and having a parent pay up the ~$50 to slot it in yourself. If you failed to realize that (at least imo) you deserved what "2× RAM 4free" websites offered.

Thankfully adfly is mostly gone from the internet these days. Or at least I don't encounter it as much, it has probably been a good 2-3 years since i last saw an adfly link
They changed to linkvertise the website has higher pay and legitimate advertisements now
linkvertise bought adfly and turned adfly into linkvertise
i remember when i clicked on allow on adfly notifications and long story short i accidentally deleted my browsing history (although i stopped the popups)
Wow, very good video, well done. I subbed.
Thanks for this video! I'm really interested in malware, so thanks for this video. Also, are you using a VM?
yes yes he is
Woahh!!! Your videos are great! :O Keep it up!!
i honestly I'm kinda surprised that UA-cam has not added adfly ads into their videos yet.
I knew The Voice was legit as soon as I saw the headline "Wentz can't win" X'D, good video!

damn adfly...that brings back memories.
one of those websites that make you feel old.
I honestly don't know why any site ever wants to know, needs to know, or should ever even ask for, your location. If I am purchasing something that needs to be delivered to my door, I'll be happy to fill out the shipping information once I've devoted to a purchase.
Sadly i do not recommend installing extensions on a separate profile.... I had installed an extension (on a different chrome browser app entirely) and rhe extension decided to turn the entire app in a malicious file that was trying to steal cookies and what not... Like i struggled to uninstall the app
adfly told me to click allow on notification i did and then stuff started to pop up like VIRUS VIRUS and i did quick scan with window then no virus then i realized it was a scam then adfly started to send more and more you got a virus then they put in like not good pictures then i got traumatized i also am a little younger so that was so sad for me and dark so i quickly disabled noti for adfly

why is this so cool to me?! its 2:30 in the morning on a school night how did i get here bahahahhahahshshjhshahas-
When I was a kid I had asked my mom to help me download minecraft mods, and instead of waiting she clicked on like every download button on adfly, then years later blamed me for downloading the viruses when I literally watched her do that with my own eyes
Why is adfly so full of malware?
is your server in seattle?
plot twist: the mcafee impersonators are actually mcafee employees
The amount of trash from random websites and UA-cam videos that I have downloaded during my childhood, and I never not a single time got any malware. I’m truly amazed by how dumb someone has to be to actually get hacked or whatever.

when i was like 12, i downloaded a program on my old laptop through adfly and my screen legit went black and my laptop never turned on again.
We Minecraft players are conditioned to only pay attention to the countdown and click on the "Skip" button when downloading mods and texture packs. Then click on "Download". Continue until no new windows open and you can
finally save the archive file on your PC.
I need a adblocker that only blocks green buttons that say "download"
this hurts
YES. I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO CLICK ON SHIT FROM ADFLY BECAUSE I DONT WANT TO FRICK UP MY PHONE
With adfly you ONLY want to click "skip ad" because anything else is 99% a virus
guardio is sponsored by pleasant green
i remember it from trying to download minecraft mods back then lmao
If I click on a link to enter adfly and exit quickly, do I have any risk?
Adfly itself has no risks, but as soon as you click on something you risk downloading something sketchy. Just close anything that opens by itself
Adfly had me in a chokehold when I was 12
Why youtube now recommends adfly videos
I remember clicking on pokemon rom gb files download and adfly just showsup and my phone just lagged or something and i restarted it and the file dint download and thank god

The worst ads are the weightloss ones cause it makes me wanna use them but i know they are false
Now that Ozempic is out and tested it makes those ads appear even more fake. The ad would just say "Ozempic" if it was ACTUALLY a way to lose weight fast and not a way to merely take your credit card info
Yeah and its sad they would do that
I got a fake that says YoUr Pc HaS mAlLwArE
It is ridiculous how people don't see the BIG BLUE TOP BAR with the "SKIP AD" button that shows after seconds...
If you don't press other buttons then you will be safe.
So, interestingly, I use Kaspersky Security Cloud, and I went on Adfly to download something, and TRUST ME I did not click anything, and then AFTER I LEFT THE PAGE it said like 16 times "download blocked"
The first time it said it wasn't a virus, then the others it said it was "illegitimate software".....
@@MidnightTheKitten What kind of a browser you use?
You shouldn't mess with the settings allowing things to download "automatically" without your permission.
Also you probably did pressed something but you deny it on purpose or you just forgot.
@@MasterBlek Deny it on purpose...? Why are you assuming things about me for no reason? My dad has been working with computers for over 30 years and he didn't blink an eye when I told him about that happening. He just recommended that I do a computer scan, and preferably one from an external drive to boot up Linux and do it from there.
I use Google Chrome. And I don't remember ever messing with those settings. Maybe I did, I don't know. But even then, it should say that something is downloading, which it did not. Do you truly believe that the only way I could have had something download was by clicking something? Do you not understand how viruses work? I've gotten plenty of alerts from my antivirus software saying it blocked a download that was "notavirus:HEUR" or something like that. I looked it up, and it means that it's adware. And that happened in times when I didn't click anything.
Why would I, a person who is willingly looking up videos about computers and viruses, be foolish enough to click on a stupid big link in the middle of the screen when I've been using adfly for years, originally to download Minecraft mods? And why would I lie about clicking on it? What could I possibly gain from lying about getting a virus from a website and replying to some random person on a computer video?
@@MidnightTheKitten Because you read something and clicked on it...
I am aware of that psychology and also there is no way for adfly to send files to you without your permission.
If a downloading window shows up asking you to "download or not" something then DO NOT PRESS "YES".
Perhaps you didn't even read the message and pressed the button anyways thinking that it's about "skipping" or something.
Use fastforward extension for ad fly
This feels like i cameback to 2012 i used to pirate games or just download cracked premium programs 🤣
