    Thank you for your channel and advice. I work out 6x a week, 2 hours a day, with a bodybuilder focus. But I am still carrying around 20 to 30 pounds of visceral fat and picked up a VERY bad habit of having almost an entire bottle of Bourbon over the weekends with Coke. All that sugar and high fructose corn syrup was killing my gains. I have stopped all alcohol and the three cans of Coke I would have over the weekend. I know that is probably not a lot of Coke for an average American.. but for someone like me that has a family history of diabetes and high blood pressure, it is not a smart path for me to have continued on. Sorry for the long post, but thank you for what you do!

      Paleo is 10x easier but not nearly as effective unfortunately . You need to go really low carb to truly get the benefits. Paleo is just a baseline beginner diet

      @@christianlee9360 I think paleo can be more like something that dieters transition into once they hit their goal. However, I do think the best diet should be a diet that falls under both paleo and keto. Aka, clean keto. You'll get the best of both but its also the most restrictive

    My biggest challenge with paleo vs keto is the allowance of honey and maple syrup and fruits. It can sometimes be a slippery slope for me because fruit is a convenient grab and go that replaces fats and protein and messes with my blood sugar (I’m not diabetic). I am a big believer of high fat low carb but I’m also not convinced that fruits and veggies in the right season and quantities is bad. I’m confident that while ruminants and fats are essential for optimal health, the addition of some plants sometimes is how our ancestors ate.

    Very nicely done - informative and balanced, thanks. I guess i have to wonder….50,000 years ago where where these people living? The garden of Eden? I’m sure they wouldn’t they have been ‘let’s cut all the fat out of our meat - we want ‘low fat meat’ or where would they get a big range of fruit and vegetables in Africa/America/Europe? They would have been restricted to what grew in that small region in that season. I doubt there would have been much selection in most areas.

    When I started doing this, at first I just wanted to lose weight. But then something strange happened. I had had a loss of feeling in my fingertips for many years. Twenty or so, I stopped eating processed sugar and processed carbs, didn't even know at that time that it was called anything. By the third day I started getting feeling back. That's what has made me keep going. It was altogether to obvious that eating like this is awesome for my health. I went from 248 pounds down to 215. I would say I fall into the hybrid categories, meaning I do allow small amounts of unsweetened dairy. Mainly a bit of cheese and sometimes I use butter. A small milk as a drink sometimes. But that's not often. I avoid grains and sugar like the plague. I have a bit of alcohol, but I'm cautious about it and avoid anything sweet. I'm not a sadist after all. In total I think this video is a great general overview. Lots of veggies, veggies at the heart, spot on. I tried vegetarian at one point. I couldn't do it, I was literally always hungry. For me, I need that good quality protein to make it work. Like, if I have veggies with some steak, I can go all day on that. It's about avoiding overly stimulating the insulin response. If I avoid carbs and sugar I don't get hungry. So, I don't need to eat as much or as often.

Strictly eating food mankind ate 25,000 - 50,000 years ago is far to restrictive. and what meat is eaten in the diet should be cooked, as 100,000 -13,000 years ago this would likely have been done over an open fire.

    What is a white potato? Is that based on the outside skin or inside flesh? Or can I only eat sweet potato?

    • @FlawyClips
      @FlawyClips 6 місяців тому

      The inside flesh. A white potato is your regular potato with a white interior and brown skin. Sweet potatoes are lower in lecthin therefore why Paleo dieters prefer them over their savory counterpart, however as long as you cook them properly the effects of the lecthin are gonna be irrelevant

    If a dairy product like milk is turned into curd ,it becomes a probiotic food so good for the gut ,then cottage cheese made from souring of milk is good source of calcium ,dairy products re great if consumed in moderation and in different manners like an Indian desert called kheer is made by thickening of milk by continuous stirring ,garnished with dry fruits great for bones ,its so tasty ,i think one should ve dairy products as a must in daily consumption and not go overboard which applies to other food items also

    Isn't this diet mostly just eating real, whole foods as opposed to processed crap? The reason I'm interested in this diet is because I love fruit. I looked into keto and the type of fruits allowed, while delicious, is just not varied enough. I can give up soda, processed sugar, dairy, candy, bread and baked goods, as long as I have fruit to assuage the sweet tooth. I know, giving up sweets is kind of the point, but I'm 50 and I have been on many, many, many diets over the years and I know exactly where my weaknesses are. My sweet tooth is one of them. Gotta have access to fruit.
    My question, to anyone that knows anything about this diet, is: Is coffee and tea allowed? I know water is a must, but giving up sugar AND caffeine at the same time may be a bridge too far. Btw, while I do like cream and sugar in my coffee, I drink tea completely unsweetened.

      You can have coffee and tea on paleo.

      I like my sweets, too! I'm very low carb (most days). A good way to satisfy your sweet tooth is to enjoy little high quality dark chocolate, like 2 large squares and sometimes I put unsweetened almond butter in between the squares..SO satisfying! I also eat fruits, a smoothie with frozen berries every morning. I think that with a good diet it's more about what you do eat as opposed to what you don't. When I focus on getting my nutrition in (veggies, fruits,meats, healthy fats) I'm just not hungry for sugar anymore! It takes a few weeks, but it seems to work. Good luck!! Health is everything ✨️

      I eat a lot of celery with my fruit. The more fiber the better. Fiber helps your body metabolize sugar better. I drink a lot of water. This cuts down the hunger.

      Whey protein is concentrated processed dairy. Dairy increases risk of hormonal cancers e.g. breast, ovarian, prostrate. Get your protein from whole food sources e.g. add 2 tablespoons of chia seeds to your smoothie for a great protein boost plus health fat and fibre.
      Also increase seafood and grass fed meat and pastured raises chicken eggs for protein plus nutrients. All the best.
