I saw this in theaters in 1979 and it blew my 18 year old mind. I have seen it at least 20 times since. I understand you feeling that it felt long, but that is where the tension was built. As an old man I feel that movies today are too quick, a different era. Terrific review thanks Evie.
Same with me Stewart. This series has become my al time favorite. I like ALIENS and PROMETHIUS and Promethius with the directors cut of the 5 min conversation between David and the Engineer. That explains a lot about the whole Alien series. Ridley Scott said he cut out most of the conversation because he thought it would be too confusing. I think the rest of the movies besides those two are junk. What do you think? I love youtubers Devin G and DashaRussia reactions to these movies as well. Have you seen them?
I agree. just dont bother with any of the other Alien franchise films as they're all terrible. If you watch Aliens, DON'T wtach Alien 3 as it bascially ruins the endings of Aliens
@@norwegianblue2017 First time I've heard of it, so I looked it. Up on YT. I want to watch that version. Here is a great comparison video: ua-cam.com/video/sMjdVhvkso8/v-deo.html
Ash was basically The Company suit on the ship, disguised as a science officer. MOTHER was the ship's computer, who had also been programmed with the orders to collect the Alien The "heartbeat" you kept hearing (which I've never noticed before) - was just the rhythmic pulsing of the ship's engines I'm sure it's deliberate - that the crew feels safe in MOTHER's womb, listening to her beating heart ... motherhood, pregnancy and birth are underlying themes of this movie [meanwhile, she's been programmed to screw them over - Crew Expendable] Some people laugh at Ripley going back for the cat - but that's what I would have done, and I know you would've done the same as well - maternal instinct Which is why I WOULD have let Kain back onboard - but kept the rest of the crew away from sickbay. Protecting the cat is right and proper, obviously, so it stands to reason that you just need to take a chance on protecting the stricken human as well. Now watch "Spaceballs" - a superb comedy spoof of Star Wars, mainly, but there's a terrific scene near the end that lampoons one of the best scenes in this movie, even having an original cast member ;)
no... getting an animal, any animal...is IDIOTIC... i don't care which delusional person needs to hear it but it is in fact, JUST a cat... if i'm ever on a ship with another retard who would jeopardize human lives for a cat i would feel like i have no choice but to exterminate that kind of person myself for the greater good
Interesting comments. This is my all time favorite movie series. i saw it in '79 in theater and it scared the hell out of me. I have never noticed the ""heartbeat" either. I know alot comment about the "silence" in this movie. If you watched Promethius it shows the the company knew full well about the alien in the LV system since its set in time Before this movie So they had programmed other space vehicles to be aware of it. David was the first AI and Ash here is the second generation and then in ALIENS Bishop the newest series I dont like the other movies but in Alien Covenant David is the same AI from Promethius..
@@shinrapresident7010 Yes agree but have to remember these guys are just future "truck drivers" and not scientists, so explains alot of their bad decisions. Brett and Parker only interested in money. Dallas only with getting home Ash has his agenda. Lambert is just the "dumb blonde airhead" Kane well curiosity killed the cat and Ripley the only one with common sense. Atleast that my take
Another amazing thing about this movie is no CGI, All sets and practical effects! Same with Terminator and Bladerunner! Even the Alien and Terminator sequels had very little CGI.
Great reaction! One thing I've always loved about this movie is from behind the scenes. In the chest bursting scene, the actors didn't know how any of the scene was going to be achieved save for the guy on the table. So the reaction they gave with the alien pushing through his chest and then blood spraying everywhere was their genuine reaction to the sheer horror of what ended up happening.
A young UA-cam viewer is boarding the "Nostomo." What will she make of this "old, long, slow-moving, character-centered, no-DFX/CGI" movie? 6:07 The Space Jockey, a mystery for decades. 7:26 Second Officer Kane = Zapp Brannigan. 8:09 Now THAT is a jump scare. 8:33 This conversation has become iconic/prescient due to recent events. 9:16 The Face Hugger, grossing out audiences since 1979. 12:49 A Props dept. work of ART, made of sea animals. DFX can't match this level of reality. 14:07 Kane's last meal. 14:42 The Xenomorph, scaring audiences for over 40 years! 20:00 In 1979, this was my "WTF? "Jennifer Lawrence"? Who is that?;)
The man in the Hawaiian shirt is Harry Dean Stanton, he played Toot the trusty in THE GREEN MILE. Toot practiced the executions. Two of the characters were named after him, HARRY Terwiliger and DEAN STANTON.
Alien is one of the greatest films of all time; regardless of genre. I’ve written several pieces on the design of Alien. Had Dan O’Bannon & Ridley Scott not found HR Giger’s book ‘Necronomicon’, who knows what we could’ve ended up with. Scott was familiar with Giger’s work due to him being hired to work on Scott’s failed adaptation of Dune. Nothing will beat the time I got to see a special 70mm IMAX print of Alien…it looks absolutely stunning!! Fun Facts: The scene where Parker & Lambert die was originally much longer & Veronica Cartwright has even stated in interviews that what you see is a lot different. Basically, if you notice, as the tail goes between Lamberts legs, it isn’t actually Lambert; her costume featured cowboy boots…& the feet we see are actually Brett’s. Also, there’s a little know cut of the film that features Ripley finding Parker dead & Lambert naked from the waist down, suspended. Cartwright went on record & said that she spent part of the shoot suspended in a harness; but the scene was cut down to what we see in the theatrical cut. The Nostromo set was all connected; as it would’ve been had the craft been real. That combined with the fact it had a really low ceiling helps add to the hot, claustrophobic atmosphere & this helped drive the performance’s. Please ensure you watch the directors cut of Aliens & then onto the Assembly Cut of Alien 3. There’s not much to say about Aliens other than it’s just perfect. Alien 3 however is something of a flawed masterpiece. It was David Fincher’s directorial debut & due to studio meddling, rewrites etc, we were left with a semi coherent film that to this day Fincher refuses to talk about. The assembly cut, fixes a lot of problems & several cast members returned to record enhanced dialogue for the reintroduced scenes. Alien 3 still divides fans due to its bleak, post apocalyptic look. But it’s the perfect ending to an excellent trilogy of films. Fun Fact: The Nostromo model was restored a few years back & sold at auction to a certain NZ director for $500’000!!!
My favorite movie series of all time. learned a lot from your comments. Appreciate it. Now I know in one version you can see the Xenormorph hanging on the chains when Brett looks up, but others you cant. Thought this was a mistake not to show it. In the Parker/Lambert scene you can tell it just wasnt done well. i think they wanted to have much more of a sexual reference with the tail coming up inbetween Lamberts legs but then cut it? Also there should have been a lot more shown with Parkers fight with the critter I read that the Nostromo model was one where the prop guys just took one of the Star Wars model, did a little cut here and there, added something and painted it. True?
@@cherylsims5636 You are welcome. The version in which you can see the Xenomorph in the chains is the directors cut. The scene was intended for the theatrical cut, but Ridley Scott wanted to avoid revealing the Alien in full for as long as possible. The addition of the scene into the directors cut is one change I personally didn’t like, as it ruins the mystery of the creature. Regarding the attack on Parker & Lambert. The scene was originally much longer than what ended up in both released cuts of Alien. There’s always been some ambiguity about what happened to Lambert. But having seen the stills from cut scenes; plus the testimony from Veronica Cartwright who played Lambert, that she was suspended half naked in a harness for some shots, there may well have been a sexual element to the attack. From writing various pieces on the design & themes of Alien, there is a lot of sexual imagery. The openings the three members of the Nostromo crew enter the derelict craft look like huge vagina. The top of the Alien egg look like vulva….& let’s not forget that the Alien is the product of Kane being technically raped. I think I many ways, not seeing what happens to Lambert & only hearing her screams is far more terrifying. The footage of the tail passing between what we are lead to believe is her legs, but is in fact Brett’s is no doubt to them cutting elements from the Parker / Lambert attack & the need to pad out the scene with some sort of footage. The Nostromo was a unique design. But, it wasn’t uncommon for model builders to buy up huge amounts of model kits in order to detail the model. The docking arm between the refinery & the Nostromo features multiple parts from an R2-D2 kit that was available at the time. Also, part of the Nostromo engine room; seen in a wide shot, features hundreds of parts of a Saturn V kit. I’ve linked the video about the restoration of the Nostromo model prior to its auction in 2020. ua-cam.com/video/9NoCsZvYeEQ/v-deo.html
"How did it get so big?" Scorpions also shed, and its amazing how much bigger they get each time they shed. Also, scorpions eat so little and drink so little, its astounding they grow like they do. humans need to eat to grow, scorpions do to, but the amount they eat compared to the amount they grow is out of proportion. There was a lot of inspiration in Aliens from Scorpions.
Great reactions to this awesome movie, Evie. This version is the more recent Director's Cut of Alien. The original version didn't include the scenes of Ripley finding Dallas.
@@Otokichi786 interestingly Ridley Scott wasn't getting the right reaction when Lambert (Veronica Cartwrigh) slapped Ripley (Sigourney Weaver), because Sigourney flinched a little bit in advance of the slap - I guess that they had a few takes previously. So Ridley Scott asked Veronica to slap Sigourney when she wasn't expecting it.
I prefer the theatrical cut- the Dallas scene seems to pat/padantic - not sure what word to use, its just too much and not needed. I saw the movie in the theater as a 12 yr old kid and just assumed the alien killed him. I have the Bluray and always watch the theatical cut when veiwing - every 5 yrs or so. I just ignore the directors cut version in my mind. Oddly enough, Aliens director cut is better than the theatrical (director's cut shows the colonists - shots if bigwheels/kids playing, and includes the part where the Aliens retreat via the robot guns in the hall- both are removed from the theatrical version (and I saw Aliens in the theater - and when they "cut the power" I was like what what, they are just animals, not seeing the earlier part (removed from theatrical version) - of them learning via retreating from robot guns in the hall). So thier cutting of power (though still a stretch - they are still animals, but smarter in the directors cut than the theatrical version) could make more sense if viewed from the directors version rather than the theatrical one I saw as a 20 yr old.
@@gaffo7836 I very much agree. Apparently I am not a fan of Ridley Scott's director's cuts, because I haven't preffered any of them to the theatrical versions so far.
EVie, your face when the baby Xenomorph exits from the body was simple. PRICELESS. Your jaw dropped like nothing I've seen and your eyes and your spectacle frames may have become the same size. -------- That alone made the price of admission worth it.
Hahahah yes agree. She is Definity a jump scare person. Check out DashaRussia reaction and Extraordinarymedia reactions to this movie. They are also Priceless Jump scare persons. Both need seatbelts for their chairs! Thats minus the eyewear🤓🤓🤓
1. Tagline "In space no one can hear you scream" 2. Best explosion EVER 😱🏆💯(including Star Wars) 3. Dallas/Tom Skerritt also played Viper in "Top Gun" and Strawberry in "Up in Smoke". 4. Brett/Harry Dean Stanton had a very healthy resume. We lost him recently.😇 5. Ridley Scott is also known for directing the original "Bladerunner". 6. The original release didn't have the crew's hanging bodies because they didn't see more movies to follow. 7. Doing "Aliens" now is mandatory 👍 Loved your jump-scare. 🤣
Saw this 2nd day out at tge theater with my friend and his stepdad. The line went around the theater and I remember it was hot outside. Most people were expecting a Star Wars type film and were pretty shocked and surprised during the chest burst scene. My friend's step dad was one of the people who had to leave after that scene. He waited in lobby. He was 6'4" 240 lb Vietnam Vet Marine by the way. I'd seen Exorcist at 8 and Texas Chainsaw Massacre at 9 as well films like The Hills Have Eyes so I guess I got used to horror films as a kid.
I saw this in theatre too in '79 I was like 16. Did you go to Disney World in Florida in the late 80s they had a ride based on this? Just so happened they had a guy dressed in the Alien outfit, hiding in a corner. Me and a few friends who are Sheriffs actually drew on the actor he scared the living crap outta us. i think we also scared him as well.
Great reaction Evie to one of my favorite sci-fi films. 😎👍 The best way to sum up most of the Alien franchise is "that would have never happened if they just listened to Ripley in the first place", lol 😆 I hope you review the sequel because James (Titanic, Terminator 1&2, Avatar 1&2) Cameron directs it & it is even better than the 1st film in my opinion. ✌️
Hi Michael. Nah i think if they listened to Parker and Brett and said the ""hell with this, its not in my contract" it never would have happened. But then again the are all just "future truck drivers" not scientists, so the best decisions dont happen. I like Aliens good combo of action and horror where this one is just horror.
24:50 "Just hit it with the fire." Maybe. Maybe not. Nobody actually knows if the fire will do anything at all. Dallas had fire and it didn't save him. Best option: get away while you can. Much worse option: go all HAM with the fire and find out if you live or die.
Well done reaction Evie! Yes, unlike too many of your contemporaries here on YT, you do not give an excessive "blow by blow" commentary or verbalize every thought that happens to come to mind, instead, you are attentive and show genuine reactions throughout the movie with an excellent summation upon the conclusion of the film. Yes, well done indeed, definitely worth watching. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
The actor who played Kane (John Hurt) (stomach monster) also played Ollivander in Harry Potter. He also reprized the Kane part in the space spoof Spaceballs.
Depending on what movies you've seen you might have seen ever member of this cast. Sigourney Weaver was in Avatar, Cabin in the Woods The guy that played Ash was Bilbo Baghins in the Lord of the Rings The woman that played Labert was in Hitchcock's the Birds and Witches of Eastwick
And back then it was so refreshing to have such a strong intelligent female lead. That wasn't exactly standard movie formula. Definitely do ALIENS but personally I wouldn't worry about the later ones, those first two are enough😉
This cast is actually really stacked. Though most of them aren’t known to a younger audience, most of them have really long and successful careers. You could easily do a “top five” movie watch for each of them, except perhaps Veronica Cartwright and Yaphet Kotto (though even they have some significant roles).
Trivia. Did you know that Veronica Cartwright was set to play Ripley and Sigorney Weaver Lambert. The day before filming Ridley Scott switched their roles. I often wonder how the series would have turned out if he didnt?
All Scott brothers movies are great! James Cameron did the sequel to this, and he did Terminator 2. The 2 best sequels ever made! The dining room table scene was not fully known, only to the actor and director. He wanted to get real reactions from the other actors!! The scene with the Alien in the chair with his chest bust out is a being called a Engineer. A being fully explained in the prequel of all alien movies, Prometheus! Engineers seed life on planets and if they don't like how the life is proceeding, they seed another life to wipe out the first, then destroy each other. So Engineers are responsible for Aliens humans and supposedly Predators and the technology for Replicants and Terminators!!! Replicants are from the movie Bladerunner and Bladerunner 2049!!!
for everyone that took a liking on Jonesey.... there is a small comic book about the cat´s perspective of what happens.. it´s called "Jonsey - Nine lives on the nostromo" by Rory Lucey..... a really funny view of the events...
It has one of the best sequels ever, "Aliens" a must see. Don't watch any of the other Alien movies after that, from Alien 3 on they are very disappointing and don't even follow the story line at all that were in the first two movies, sad ridiculous money grabs. I've seen Alien when it first came out in the movie theater and there were screams in the audience at the jump scares. No movie of this caliber and visuals were ever made before this and your reactions were pretty much what everyone in the theater was. My mother-in-law was sitting next to me and when Dallas was taken with that jump scare she left marks on my arm when she grabbed me.
Just an FYI - trivia. Today everyone knows who Sigorny Weaver is, but back then (I saw this in the theater as a kid - 12), there were 4 others in the cast that were well known and bigger names - esp. John Hurt (he was a HUGE known actor - mostly in Britain, but even I knew his name/face in the 70's/80's being an American - at the time. Hurt was know from many 60's era brit TV shows and classic movies (A Man for all Seasons - esp., its one of the top 10 movies of all time IMO). seriously, when this movie came out - 1979 - Sigorny Weaver, Ein Holm (the robot guy), and Tom Scarat(sp) ("Dallas") were no names. the faces/names that would be well known would be first and foremost - John Hurt (he was well know for the early TV brit series (I Claudius) - that all american high schoolers of the 80's had a weeks viewing of in their English or History class. He played the crazy roman emporer Claudius. the black guy - Kophet Yodo was a familar face in the 70's due to him being in a James Bond movie - Live and let Die I think was the one. Veronica Cartright was known by me from a movie 1 year early that i saw as a kid in the theater and scared the living shit out of me - Invasion of the Body Snatchers (a remake of the original - but better - even a top 20 IMO) - others older them me would have recognized her as a character in an early 60's TV Western series, a show I never saw but learned about many decades later. Harry Dean Stanton likewise was more face familiar - being in a few 60's TV shows as a character actor. so its kind of sad that John Hurt is now forgotten, whereas when the movie came out he was the top name billing. oh well, shit happens, and when you retire, then die from cancer in your 60's - add 20 yrs and you are no longer a know name ;-/. fame if fleeting for sure. (BTW John Hurt play the main character - John Merrick - in the excellent movie The Elephant Man (1980). --------------- Disagree with dispaaging Dallas, he made all the right moves (Ripley was in the ship - would she have not tried to save John Hurt (sorry forget his character's name) - and demanded to have the quantine lifted if she were in his shoes (or vise versa - would Dallas let Ripley in if the persons shoes were reversed?) - personally, I think if shoes were reversed, both characters would have made the same decisions as they did in the movie. Dallas never showed poor judgment, and only followed the book - and I never saw Ripley not following the book - I see them the same. so, I like Dallas, he was a good leader IMO. 2-cents.
21:20 "Since when do robots leak like that?" I agree, this is the gooiest robot ever. But. Robots do need some fluids inside. Lubricants for moving parts. Pneumatic fluids for moving those moving parts. Coolants for hot parts. And since this is meant to pass for human, it might have some kind of circulatory system to sustain its dermis. All that stuff might leak. But this old boy seemed more like a water balloon full of milk, ready to pop.
Aside from being known for Ellen Ripley, Sigourney Weaver would probably be known as Dana Barrett from Ghostbusters. Which I think you’d enjoy if you haven’t seen it already. Her most acclaimed role was probably portraying Jane Goodall in “Gorillas in the Mist”.
Sean Connery's science fiction movie Outland also has corrupt corporation themes and was shot using many of the same props. While not officially linked they could exist in the same universe.
32:55 "The only thing I would have to say though is that some scenes were too long." You're a product of your time. Hollywood in the 70s loved to set up suspense, loved to show long establishing shots. It's just how movies were made. Today, if something isn't exploding before the end of the 2nd minute, the audience is bored and changes the channel. I'm not saying YOU would change the channel. Maybe not. But filmmakers are all trying to please that kind of audience to they try to keep us on the edge of our seats the whole time, or maybe get a little slow in the middle when we're already invested. Don't worry. Disney is bringing back the sllllloooooooowwwwwww. Go watch Andor. 8 hours of walking and talking with maybe 20 minutes of action spread out over 12 episodes. Even better, Andor is critically acclaimed. Now everybody is doing it. Welcome back to the 70s!
What a great reaction to an all time classic film. A few things 20th Century Fox sent some executives over to England as they were concerned about the time it was taking to finish the film and therefore the associated costs. Well Ridley Scott showed them of the footage in a small viewing room which included the chest burster scenes, apparently the fox executives ran out and threw up in the car park. Ridley did a few things to cast on edge, one of which was every day get the set crew to make the ship corridors more narrow by bringing the walls in a little bit. BTW Ripley is 3rd in command because she's the chief engineer, which is why she knows which buttons to press to disturb the alien in the shuttle.
Hi leslie. i never knew that but Evie here looked like she was about to vomit when the critter came out of Kanes chest too!!!One bit of trivia . Veronica Cartwright was originally supposed to play Ripley and Sigorney Weaver to Play Lambert. Like the day before filming Ridley Scott switched the two. I often wonder how the series would have turned out if that didnt happen?
Oh and I love your "maybe he was following" while doing a swimming impression 🤣 Sadly in the vacuum of space flapping your arms around doesn't work. So your OK, that Alien is definitely dead. However if you remember... "there's a layer of mist, that reacts when broken, covering leathery objects like eggs or something".... There's more!
@@eviereacts Fun fact: the reactive layer of mist effect was created by shining a scanning laser through fog. The Alien production got the lasers because the movie was filming at Shepperton Studios, and the rock band The Who were filming a performance on the sound stage next door. The lasers were part of The Who's stage effects, and when some of the Alien crew saw them, they asked if they could borrow them. If you look on UA-cam for The Who playing the song "Won't Get Fooled Again", live at Shepperton Studios, you'll see the lasers during the insturmental break. Scanning laser effects like this are ten-a-penny nowadays, but they were very new and 'high-tech' in 1978.
I saw this at the cinema when it was released. I've never heard so many screams at a movie.....and that was just me, a 25 year old Englishman who definitely lost his stiff upper lip, and almost control of my bodily functions. A masterpiece. ✌️❤️🇬🇧
I saw this at 16 and was scared. it didnt out do the Exorcist however. Then people got up and vomited in the isle, others ran out screaming too and some stood up and fainted. I was curious to see an ambulance parked outside the theatre at the time
Still holds up today and contains the scariest jazz hands in cinema history. Jones is indestructible and the most famous cat in space. Sadly it should be Felicette, the only cat to actually fly to space, but she was killed for an autopsy soon after landing.
17:10 "It's like a hundred times bigger. How?" Great question. It grew to nearly the size of a horse, so let's say a young horse not quite full grown. It did that in about a day or so - we don't know exactly how long but I'm pretty sure they have not been spending weeks or months looking for it. It also did it with no food source. By way of comparison, an actual horse takes 4 years to grow from birth to adult. In just the first year alone that little baby horse eats over 2,000 pounds of food. This alien managed at least 3 years of horse-like growth in a day or so with no food. Impossible. Biologically, no what it's DNA or biology, to add mass it needs to intake mass in the form of food consumption. The Law of Conservation of Mass is a well-known law of physics and no human has ever observed anything that can break this physical law. But this allien did. It's OK though. Anything is possible in monster movies.
the reaction you see when the alien bursts from the chest of infected man is real , no one in the cast was told what was about to happen ! lol a genius move on the part of the director and special effects people !
the first 3 movies could be summed up by "They Should have listened to Ripley" ... that is how a powerfull, believable, realistic female character is done..
I know this isn't a video game channel but you should definitely check out Alien Isolation, it's a survival horror/stealth game that takes place after the events of this film and it's absolutely brilliant and terrifying. Un de mes jeux préférés
Now that was a reaction, the chest buster scene was truly priceless, and the scream when he was in the vent shaft was the best ever. Very well done mi amour, I had so much fun watching this with you. You are such a lovely woman, and I love the way you don't hold back and say what you think and how you feel, my kind of woman. Aliens, the sequel is a must watch, probably the best sequel ever made, truly hope you react to it.
My first R-rated movie. My dad knew how much I liked sci-fi, so he took me to see it. I was 14! Imagine! 😮 - and my dad was yelling "leave the cat!" LOL
4:25 "Mmmmm. Mmm mmm. Screw that. I'm out." 6:30 Lambert said "Let's get the hell out of here." and you said "Good idea." Not an option. To put this in perspective, these guys are on a mission that takes pretty close to 4 years. They get one big paycheck at the end, but if they fail to investigate right here, they lose all that pay. Now imagine yourself. Could you live, broke and homeless, for 4 years with absolutely no source of income? Would you? What might you do to avoid that fate?
Hey, Evie! This is one of the greatest and most influential horror films of all time! I prefer the original THEATRICAL CUT because I feel it's paced better and lacks the cocooning scene which contradicts the sequel. However, the Director's Cut you saw boasts a moment when Veronica Cartwright smacks the crap out of Sigourney Weaver which definitely SHOULD HAVE BEEN in the Theatrical Cut! Despite preferring the Theatrical Cut for the first movie, there is ABSOLUTELY NO QUESTION that you must watch the SPECIAL EDITION with longer runtime of the sequel, "ALIENS"!!!!!!! There are critical additional scenes that add context to the movie and it is the version director James Cameron and Sigourney Weaver themselves prefer. Director Ridley Scott kept the entire cast in the dark about the famous CHESTBURSTING scene except for John Hurt. Their reactions were absolutely genuine and mirrored the audience's response! Veronica Cartwright got sprayed by fake blood and fell over backward. They only filmed the scene twice. It remains one of the most ICONIC IN CINEMA HISTORY! The PACING is deliberately slow at the beginning to acquaint the audience with the ship's geography, to demonstrate authentic-looking space travel and maneuvers, to familiarize the audience with the crew, to establish the threat posed by the creature and to generate suspense with the mystery of the derelict craft. There's a lot of rich character humor and foreshadowing in those crew interaction scenes as well as a subtext about this future society being a corporate dystopia. "Alien" is set in the year 2122. This movie and "Star Wars" changed the future aesthetic from antiseptic cleanliness to lived-in, worn-out dinginess. The Swiss artist, H.R. GIGER, who designed the xenomorph, tapped into insectoid and reptilian features that evoke primal fear. His artwork is very bizarre, erotic and has a distinctive look called Giger-esque. The final product is an iconic movie monster that is pure NIGHTMARE FUEL! The creature's life-cycle and biology is explored throughout the series. By the way, the alien's retractable inner jaw is found in nature in a deep-sea fish! THE WEYLAND-YUTANI COMPANY is an international conglomerate involved in robotics, interstellar travel and terra-forming. They have a stake in every colony world and are basically the 22nd-century version of the British East India Company of the 17th- to 19th-centuries. They are a ruthless corporation looking to exploit or weaponize the xenomorph for profit regardless of the negative consequences. The Company is the TRUE VILLAIN of all the Alien movies. In the "AvP" films, you actually meet the company founders before their merger, Mr. Weyland and Ms. Yutani. This crew is not a group of explorers, scientists or colonists. They're just SPACE TRUCKERS hauling rocks. This was a First Contact situation they were wholly unqualified for. Hence, all the bumbling and bad judgment calls. Their chief concerns were company policy and pay inequity. Ripley was the only one with the willingness to make difficult command decisions that would have saved all their lives except for Kane's had she not been undermined by Ash. Of course, Ash was privy to a secret corporate mandate. Like most Captains, Dallas had an inherently CALM DEMEANOR. By minimizing the situation, it prevents both him and the crew from panicking. You can tell he's very worried because he seeks counsel from Mother. He also acknowledges his culpability for the predicament by preventing Ripley from volunteering to go into the shafts and by shouldering that burden himself. He accepted this task not even knowing if fire would be effective! His last act is a rather valiant gesture and I always feel bad for him despite his initial missteps. Parker is MY FAVORITE supporting character! Yaphet Kotto played him to the hilt! He's the blue collar EVERYMAN who just cares about payday and who enjoys deliberately antagonizing his superiors but ends up sacrificing himself for a fellow employee. He's also the only one who made a move on the chestburster before being stopped by Ash! Some viewers strongly believe the alien raped Lambert! This is nonsense. The PREHENSILE TAIL probably drew her closer to itself so it could mouth-punch her with the retractable jaw. Those viewers aren't mistaken for perceiving phallic eroticism, though, as that was Scott's intent. The giant elephant-headed alien pilot of the derelict spacecraft is one of the GREAT MYSTERIES of the franchise. Was he a zoologist, a bio-warfare specialist, an exterminator, a trader in exotic organisms, a waste disposal tech or a trucker like Ripley's crew? No one knows. Sigourney Weaver became a FEMINIST ICON because of this movie. Ripley is one in a long line of strong female characters that have been showcased in sci-fi and fantasy dating back to Edgar Rice Burroughs' Dejah Thoris, the Princess of Mars, in 1911! There's not a man I know who wouldn't follow Ripley into hell. You must see the SPECIAL EDITION of "Aliens" and the ASSEMBLY CUT of "Alien 3" because those versions greatly enhance both films. If you intend to see the "ALIEN vs. PREDATOR" films, then you need to acquaint yourself with the PREDATOR franchise. The first is an action classic with Schwarzenegger. Danny Glover's underrated urban-set "Predator 2" features some memorable set pieces. Dark Horse comics explored the crossover concept inspiring Hollywood to make two crossover films with moderately successful to excellent results. They're fun and exciting guilty pleasures with the second one, "ALIENS vs. PREDATOR: REQUIEM", being particularly lean and mean. There is also a "PREDATORS" film produced by Robert Rodriguez that is definitely worth a look. "THE PREDATOR" (2018) REBOOT, however, should be avoided at all costs; it's a franchise-killer! "PREY" is an 18th-century-set prequel to the original film that was released on Hulu last summer! The Alien films have a RICHER SUBTEXT while the Predator films are more ACTION FARE but they're both fun sci-fi thrillers. So love how you young people react with the chest burst, just like when we first saw it, but do check out the trailers for this, that use to terrify me, long before I saw the movie, which was a few years after it's release,..and I scrambled to see it then, rent it(VHS), because there were rumors, hints of a sequel coming up,..Ridley Scott is such a prolific director,..big on details, down to the tiniest detail, a lot like Stanley Kubrick, Hitchcock,(I think they kinda inspired him),..they built a real big set for the interior of the ship,..in an interview Sigourney remarked about getting confused, lost, turned around , probably in the scenes, where her character was first activating the ship's self destruct, and then the back and forth of trying to then disabled it, then again trying to make an escape, I can so see how she, anybody would get confused, the smog, or smoke machine , the dim lights, the flashing emergency lights,. the noise, no telling how many takes they had to do, before it came out as we see it in the movie, and I think her escape scene was the hardest, the other actors, save Harry Dean Stanton(but his search for Jonesy scene was just dim lighting, still, stumbling around in the dark), didnt have such complicated, or as complicated a scene to navigate,..all in all made for a masterpiece of work,..do keep going, so enjoyed watching this with you,..Godspeed, Peace ✌
You might be surprised at how many people would abandon Jones. I've even heard a few UA-camrs point to their actual cats and say "I love them, but if I were in that situation, I wouldn't save them". Makes one wonder how much they genuinely care, then, doesn't it. I think Ripley had a moral obligation to rescue Jones. Being a at, he had no say in being dragged into space. HE had no say in what happened to him. Because humans decided for him, humans were responsible for him. Because humans dragged him along into space, they had a moral obligation to his well-being. That aside, as others have said this is legitimately a classic. Other classic sci fi/horror movies are _Aliens,_ the sequel to this, _Predator,_ Predator 2,_ _Terminator,_ and _Terminator 2._ Personally, I think you can't watch the first two Terminator movies without watching _Terminator: Dark Fate_ as well, but that was made more recently. What these sequels share in common is that they are surprisingly fantastic. They not only build on what came before, but expand it. They don't disagree with previous canon; they build on it. None were made s attempts to just cash in or clone what came before, either. They were allowed to tell their own stories, and in so doing that made them great films in their own right, but also able to stand up alongside the previous ones.
About cats really? The cat just set up Bret and watched him get attacked. A DOG would have at least tried to attack the alien. Yes for Dogs, No to cats
@@cherylsims5636 I don't disagree with any of that. I do, though, maintain that Jones is a living creature who was put into a situation by humans making choices for him, and as such said humans are morally responsible for his well-being. He might be a jerk, but that doesn't mean humans get to eschew responsibility.
9:42 "I'd be like, throw him overboard." Would you? Imagine that is YOUR friend lying there, surrounded by medical equipment that could be used to save his life. He is YOUR FRIEND that you've known and worked alongside for a decade or more. Would you really just murder him or would you try to save him?
Are you really asking?? It’s a movie lol of course if it was a real life situation I wouldn’t just murder MY FRIEND😱 like come on don’t take everything I say as something I would actually do in real life I’m just messing around
@@eviereacts Lol, my seriousness in asking is directly proportional to the seriousness with which you meant your statement. The more serious you were, more seriously I'm asking. Since you seem to have not been serious, then neither was I.
@@eviereacts One thing that makes this movie so great is that everybody is an intelligent professional doing the best they can do. Way, way too often, monster movies have the monster kill a bunch of idiots that make terrible decisions. That's easy to write. This movie, everybody here does exactly what professionals doing their jobs professionally. They make good decisions that fail because the monster is unexpectedly big, or has acid blood, or simply overpowers them. Except Lambert. She's the panicky crew member, but even that checks out: put 6 people in a scary situation, probably at least one of them has panic issues. That's why I love this movie so much. The writers didn't take the easy way out and make everybody stupid. They did the opposite. They made them smart and the monster still kills almost all of them.
The second movie 'Aliens' (in plural) is worth it. It's not a horror movie, tho, but an action movie. But it's a good action movie. Alien is one of the best movies of all time, imo. Absolutely groundbreaking at its time, and inmensely creative. The rest of the aliens movies (there are a lot) are skippable.
I just stumbled apon this channel and couldn't pass up another reaction to Alien. Ripley doesn't put up with anyone's BS Human, Android (Ash) or Alien. A badass leading lady in 1979 👍 She's even better in the sequel Aliens 1986 It's directed by James Cameron and my favorite of the Alien movies. On a side note: I had an orange cat 🐈 like Jonesy. He was so friendly but sadly passed away a few years ago.
I always found the infant xenopmorph and that first screech adorable, but I'm a freak with zero fear of snakes, bats and spiders and a health respect for gators, bears and crocs.
Someone has probably told you this, but just in case they haven't; The scene where Ripley finds the captain and Brett wasn't in the theatrical version. Scott cut it because he felt it slowed down the pace of the finale. Dallas and Brett are being transformed into new eggs. If you look below Brett's face, you can see the shape of an egg forming. Originally, that was going to be how the alien reproduced. However, since it was cut, that's not canon to the movie franchise. As for the sequels; Aliens - Good action movie, but I don't think it makes the best sequel to this film because the tone is so different. Make sure to watch the extended version. Alien 3 - Dreary and depressing movie. There's a special edition that is slightly better, but it's still not a great movie. Alien Resurrection - Not a great movie. I liked the first half and hated the second. Aliens vs. Predator - OK movie. Watch this AFTER you've watched Predator, and Predator 2. Predators is also decent, but The Predator is garbage. Prey is a decent movie in the Predator franchise, but I hate what they did with the creature design. Alien vs. Predator: Requiem - Another OK movie. Picks up right after the end of the first movie.
OMG you forgot PROMETHIUS. I thought its an absolute must since it expalins so much about the series, especially with the 5 min cut version of the Engineers talk with Weyland.I agree aliens is good and the others I didnt like
@@cherylsims5636 To be honest, I hated Prometheus. On a personal level, I hated that it took one of the most intriguing aspects of the original film, the derelict ship) and turned that race into a boring Star Trek alien of the week humanoid. Then there are the stupid lapses in logic, like scientists being terrified of being left alone in a derelict ship, despite the whole thing being mapped. Then one of them insisting on touching an alien creature despite his previous fear. Or all the helmet visors being as fragile as wine glasses. Seriously, one character just falls down and their helmet shatters. Or them all trusting David who repeatedly demonstrates that he ignores orders. And then you have the idiocy of David being able to speak to the alien at the end. There is no possible anyone can learn to speak a language from studying a printed version of it. Even here on Earth, you could learn to READ Japanese, and even become an expert in it, but you wouldn't be able to understand a single word of spoken Japanese because printed characters don't convey any sound information. So if this movie were real, David would just be speaking gibberish at the end.
@@lurkerrekrul Well you know the movie was made by Ridley Scott, founder of the Alien series and i thought it was his way of explaining how the crashed spaceship and big Engineers came to be. Since its all "Sci-FI" everything is made up anyways, so theres no right or wrong.I thought it shows: 1. David is the first Robot made by Weyland himself and loyal only to him. 2. Why would he not be able to read and understand the Engineer's language if it was them who made humans? 3. Japanese is a phonetic language (Ive played Judo since 12 and we use many japanese words) At some point in history we did translate the sounds and letters to Engilsh right? So why would that be impossible to David? 4. In Alien Covenant we see David having go to Engineers home plant, but not ""Paradise" as the deleted part of Conversation between David , the Engineer and Weyland. So was that just another plant for them or was ""Paradise" Movies leaves question open.. 5. Ash is the second generation of David so he is more controlled and then Bishop the third generation of David and seems they finally got it right. IDK what else to say. I liked it. One thing which still remains open is where did the xenomorphs come from? Question is never answered. In the movie Ridley Scott was making but never finished he was to go more into this but i guess we wont ever know.
@@cherylsims5636 Yes, it was made by Scott, but I thought that he wasted the potential from the first film. Actually, what I'm pretty sure happened was that when he made the first film, he never intended to explain the origin of the"Space Jockey", the ship or anything else, so it could be as weird as he wanted. Then when when he made Prometheus, he struggled to come up with a way to explain them, and settled on something that would easy to implement: A guy in makeup. I felt it was really lazy on his part and not what not what fans wanted. 2. Because the engineers were long gone. As far as the movies tell us, no human ever ever encountered a living member of their species, or found any audio recordings by them. So all anyone would have to go on would be their written language. Without some kind of reference, you can't just magically translate a series of unknown symbols. 3. The difference is that there were people who spoke Japanese and who could teach foreigners what the words sounded like, so that those people could write an English (or whatever language) description of how to pronounce it. Without that, it's just symbols on a page. For example, if I showed you this; %%@#!-> And told you that it's a word in a language that I made up, could you figure out what it means? Now imagine that I told you it means "friend". Without anything else to go on, can you figure out how I expect it to be pronounced?
Love the bit when the Alien splits Parker's head in two, like a ripe melon, then moves back to Lambert for some (offscreen) X-Rated fun. An horrific end for both - especially Lambert.
The two greatest sci-fi/horror movies ever made are this movie and The Thing. If you watch one then you should also watch the other. I've only ever seen the first sequel to this move (Aliens), which is also great, but it's more of an action movie than a horror movie.
ripley and the cat are found 57 years later ! so those are stasis pods , and faster than light travel is still impossible ! as for ash , robot is not the correct term , android would be more fitting ! as an android would be an artificial human !
I never understood why they'd send space truckers to investigate an alien signal. I'm sure the company has people more qualified for this type of work.
at the time of the first movie, it would have meant about 1-2 years of delay until someone would get there.. so a quick investigation by the one who is already there would make sense... and at that time there no alien signals beforehand that was literally a first contact so nobody expected something that hostile and dangerous. and if the company robot would not have broken quarantaine and security protocols everything would have been reasonably ok. but the company saw a profit and got greedy...
@@Metzwerg74 there's also a bunch of extra dialogue and discussion in the novelisation (which was based on an earlier and much wordier version of the screenplay) explaining that there were laws in place to prevent anyone bringing back dangerous stuff, especially dangerous organisms, to earth. The company figured they could bypass all this by having these unfortunate space truckers on their way back from a regular job "accidentally" pick up a sample of the creature. Plus, as you mentioned, it was the cheapest and easiest way to have a look and see if there was anything worth investigating in the first place.
I always question people who say "everything would have been fine if they just listened to Ripley" as to whether or not they actually watched the movie. It's a central plot point that Ash was put on the ship by the company to specifically bring back the alien at all costs: crew expendable. It wouldn't have mattered if they listened to Ripley or not.
I see your point but what if the crew agreed with Ripley at first, being mad at Ash for opening the door, questioning his decisions and then Ash turns evil like he did, it's revealed he's a robot, we knock his head off and go home.... There wouldn't be a movie though hahaha so I guess we won't listen to Ripley
Will you react to Aliens? I loved your comments about Jonsey ❤ I loved how you were still talking about Ripley's tiny little panties all the way up to when the Alien returns 😆 I think I saw this flick when I was 6 years old, and during that scene, I came of age!
"100 times bigger" ... That's how fast, for example, insects go from egg to larva to pupae. Okay, it is a little faster in the film, but it's believable.
My brother and I both have degrees in psychology and we've spent many a happy afternoon vehemently arguing which is more horrifying (or satisfying) to the psyche, Alien (#1) or Aliens (#2). I vote for #2 so now you have to watch that one and compare them. But we both agree, it's good she saved the cat. Over the years if either of us gets or even just meets a marmalade orange striped cat we call it Jonesie. Aliens #3 is kind of alright but don't bother watching #4. It's crap.
How have you not watched this yet? I saw this when I was like 11 yrs old some 40 years ago . Scared the crap out of me ! Best sci-fi horror film of it's time. The bench mark for all sci-fi horror films thereafter. A modern classic. Enjoy girl ! BTW, that fluid dripping off the alien is slime , mucous, from its mouth!
I'd suggest that 99% of the population hasn't seen Alien. just because you and I have seen this doesn't mean that everyone has. The majority of people have no interest in sf or horror. It's like Star Wars, as a fan I find it hard to believe that some people have never seen any SW movie, but tons of people havent.
Evie, I just discovered your channel, and I love your reaction videos. You asked for movie suggestions. Here are a couple ... War Horse. It's a beautiful Steven Spielberg film, and I would love to see your reaction to it. All Quiet on the Western Front. This was the latest version that came out last year I think, and it is the first treatment of it by the Germans. Both films concerned themselves with World War One, so it would be two period pieces for you. Both films have a huge emotional impact, so brace yourself. I think I'll subscribe to your channel. Love what you do and so do my three cats, Sinjin, Boots, and Chester.😊
18:41 when i first saw that scene when i was a 6 year old kid, that then and there i knew i am better off just see a ghost rather than a bioweapon bug from outer space 😬
About the flamethrower, did you forget that his blood is acid ? :) I don't think it would have been efficient. Like Ash the robot said : He's the perfect organism
@@eviereacts nah, something much nastier and more versatile than that... hydroflouric might come closer maybe (?) I do remember my dad, who was a chemist, scoffing at the "molecular acid" suggestion by Dallas (Tom Skerritt). Said it was kind of a nonsense term, if I remember right (and it was a long tome ago and I am NOT a chemist!). Something to effect of "all acid - and anything else that isn't a pure element - is 'molecular'." :-)
I agree, you have to build up tension (dreed) - and have good writing. both lacking today in most movies/tv shows - sadly.
This and the sequel, Aliens are both cornerstones of sci-fi, horror and just super enjoyable flicks. Hope you're doing well, Evie.

Ash was basically The Company suit on the ship, disguised as a science officer.
MOTHER was the ship's computer, who had also been programmed with the orders to collect the Alien
The "heartbeat" you kept hearing (which I've never noticed before) - was just the rhythmic pulsing of the ship's engines
I'm sure it's deliberate - that the crew feels safe in MOTHER's womb, listening to her beating heart ... motherhood, pregnancy and birth are underlying themes of this movie
[meanwhile, she's been programmed to screw them over - Crew Expendable]
Some people laugh at Ripley going back for the cat - but that's what I would have done, and I know you would've done the same as well - maternal instinct
Which is why I WOULD have let Kain back onboard - but kept the rest of the crew away from sickbay.
Protecting the cat is right and proper, obviously, so it stands to reason that you just need to take a chance on protecting the stricken human as well.
Now watch "Spaceballs" - a superb comedy spoof of Star Wars, mainly, but there's a terrific scene near the end that lampoons one of the best scenes in this movie, even having an original cast member ;)
no... getting an animal, any animal...is IDIOTIC... i don't care which delusional person needs to hear it but it is in fact, JUST a cat...
if i'm ever on a ship with another retard who would jeopardize human lives for a cat i would feel like i have no choice but to exterminate that kind of person myself for the greater good
The heartbeat was merely part of the added soundtrack, nothing more. It's an old trick that film-makers use to raise suspense.
Interesting comments. This is my all time favorite movie series. i saw it in '79 in theater and it scared the hell out of me. I have never noticed the ""heartbeat" either. I know alot comment about the "silence" in this movie. If you watched Promethius it shows the the company knew full well about the alien in the LV system since its set in time Before this movie
So they had programmed other space vehicles to be aware of it. David was the first AI and Ash here is the second generation and then in ALIENS Bishop the newest series
I dont like the other movies but in Alien Covenant David is the same AI from Promethius..
At 6:10 they used children for this scene to make the space jockey look bigger than he was.
24:01 - the director's cut version of this movie shows Dallas' fate. But yeah there's only Ripley and the cat left at this point

Also there should have been a lot more shown with Parkers fight with the critter
I read that the Nostromo model was one where the prop guys just took one of the Star Wars model, did a little cut here and there, added something and painted it. True?
@@cherylsims5636
You are welcome.

This version is the more recent Director's Cut of Alien.
The original version didn't include the scenes of Ripley finding Dallas.
Not to mention Lambert slapping the Hell out of Ripley!

The best way to sum up most of the Alien franchise is "that would have never happened if they just listened to Ripley in the first place", lol 😆
I hope you review the sequel because James (Titanic, Terminator 1&2, Avatar 1&2) Cameron directs it & it is even better than the 1st film in my opinion. ✌️
Hi Michael. Nah i think if they listened to Parker and Brett and said the ""hell with this, its not in my contract" it never would have happened. But then again the are all just "future truck drivers" not scientists, so the best decisions dont happen. I like Aliens good combo of action and horror where this one is just horror.
Gotta watch Aliens now. One of the best sequels ever.
But please skip Alien 3 lol!!
24:50 "Just hit it with the fire."
Maybe.
Yes I agree. Thats she does. Its hard to find a Youtber who does good reactions. i like DashaRussia and Devin G reactions to this movie
Ridley Scott directed this film, he also did Blade Runner, Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, and quite a few others.
Aliens is definitely worth your time. More characters, actions and of course more aliens.
The actor who played Kane (John Hurt) (stomach monster) also played Ollivander in Harry Potter. He also reprized the Kane part in the space spoof Spaceballs.
No wayyyy that’s true I see it now!! That’s cool :)
That moment from 15:12 - 15:15 where she goes from disgust to amusement and then quickly back to disgust. 😂
Now, if this was the TV comedy Alf, _then_ you''d have to worry about the cat!
Depending on what movies you've seen you might have seen ever member of this cast.
Sigourney Weaver was in Avatar, Cabin in the Woods
The guy that played Ash was Bilbo Baghins in the Lord of the Rings
The woman that played Labert was in Hitchcock's the Birds and Witches of Eastwick
And back then it was so refreshing to have such a strong intelligent female lead. That wasn't exactly standard movie formula.
Definitely do ALIENS but personally I wouldn't worry about the later ones, those first two are enough😉
"Jennifer Lawrence"? Who is that?
This cast is actually really stacked. Though most of them aren’t known to a younger audience, most of them have really long and successful careers. You could easily do a “top five” movie watch for each of them, except perhaps Veronica Cartwright and Yaphet Kotto (though even they have some significant roles).
Trivia. Did you know that Veronica Cartwright was set to play Ripley and Sigorney Weaver Lambert. The day before filming Ridley Scott switched their roles. I often wonder how the series would have turned out if he didnt?
The XO reprised his role (for a few seconds) in "Spaceballs".
---------------
Disagree with dispaaging Dallas, he made all the right moves (Ripley was in the ship - would she have not tried to save John Hurt (sorry forget his character's name) - and demanded to have the quantine lifted if she were in his shoes (or vise versa - would Dallas let Ripley in if the persons shoes were reversed?) - personally, I think if shoes were reversed, both characters would have made the same decisions as they did in the movie. Dallas never showed poor judgment, and only followed the book - and I never saw Ripley not following the book - I see them the same.
so, I like Dallas, he was a good leader IMO.
2-cents.
21:20 "Since when do robots leak like that?"
I agree, this is the gooiest robot ever.
But.
Robots do need some fluids inside.
Lubricants for moving parts.
Pneumatic fluids for moving those moving parts.
Coolants for hot parts.
And since this is meant to pass for human, it might have some kind of circulatory system to sustain its dermis.
All that stuff might leak.
But this old boy seemed more like a water balloon full of milk, ready to pop.
it occurred to me you are watching the Director's cut. the alien was chilling in the chains around 16:40 in the background.
32:55 "The only thing I would have to say though is that some scenes were too long."
You're a product of your time.
It’s the audience’s POV
recommend watching the extended version of 'Aliens'. has a bit of Ripley's back story that wasn't in the cinema release.
@@cherylsims5636 A very interesting question
@@cherylsims5636 A very interesting question
Oh and I love your "maybe he was following" while doing a swimming impression 🤣
Sadly in the vacuum of space flapping your arms around doesn't work. So your OK, that Alien is definitely dead.
However if you remember...
"there's a layer of mist, that reacts when broken, covering leathery objects like eggs or something"....
There's more!
Ouuuh okay interesting!!
How?"
Great question.
Opening scene all is serene, computer turns on.
Evie jumps 😂.
the reaction you see when the alien bursts from the chest of infected man is real , no one in the cast was told what was about to happen ! lol a genius move on the part of the director and special effects people !
12:25 18:42 Outstanding! I've watched many reactions to Alien, and Evie, yours is one of the very best. 👍
the first 3 movies could be summed up by "They Should have listened to Ripley" ... that is how a powerfull, believable, realistic female character is done..
Every people for themselves, am I right?
17:37 that's what she said
I know this isn't a video game channel but you should definitely check out Alien Isolation, it's a survival horror/stealth game that takes place after the events of this film and it's absolutely brilliant and terrifying. Un de mes jeux préférés
The most HORRIFIC part of the movie is that Lambert had no pants on after the Alien had killed her. Im glad they didn't show what happened to her.
I was 14! Imagine! 😮 - and my dad was yelling "leave the cat!" LOL
shit 😅
4:25 "Mmmmm. Mmm mmm. Screw that. I'm out."
6:30 Lambert said "Let's get the hell out of here." and you said "Good idea."
Not an option.
Definitely do the sequel! Best movie of all time imo :)
Below is a VIEWING ORDER and an INTERNAL CHRONOLOGY:

"Screw that, I'm out" 😅😅😅
Because in space, no one can hear you meow🐈⬛🐈⬛🖤🐈⬛👽👽
You mean a cat and her woman 😸
Masterpiece ever.
9:42 "I'd be like, throw him overboard."
Would you?
Hi Evie, it's great you've seen this sci fi chiller. Please react to it's awesome sequel Aliens (1986) asap!
The sequel to this movie is one of the greatest sequels ever made.
Terminator 2?
Ripley is badass
34:00 No! Alien only had two films: Alien 1979 and Aliens 1986!
What you're referring to as a "heartbeat" is, I believe, the thrumming of the ship's engines and/or other systems.
I just stumbled apon this channel and couldn't pass up another reaction to Alien.
Ripley doesn't put up with anyone's BS Human, Android (Ash) or Alien.
A badass leading lady in 1979 👍
She's even better in the sequel
Aliens 1986 It's directed by James Cameron and my favorite of the Alien movies.
On a side note: I had an orange cat 🐈 like Jonesy. He was so friendly but sadly passed away a few years ago.
“Is it…inside him (Kane)?
*chuckles in chestburster*
As for the sequels;
Aliens - Good action movie, but I don't think it makes the best sequel to this film because the tone is so different.
Since its all "Sci-FI" everything is made up anyways, so theres no right or wrong.I thought it shows:
3. The difference is that there were people who spoke Japanese and who could teach foreigners what the words sounded like, so that those people could write an English (or whatever language) description of how to pronounce it. Without that, it's just symbols on a page. For example, if I showed you this;
%%@#!->
And told you that it's a word in a language that I made up, could you figure out what it means? Now imagine that I told you it means "friend". Without anything else to go on, can you figure out how I expect it to be pronounced?
@@lurkerrekrul Interesrting perspective i enjoy hearing it
Love the bit when the Alien splits Parker's head in two, like a ripe melon, then moves back to Lambert for some (offscreen) X-Rated fun. An horrific end for both - especially Lambert.
Alien Jazz hands always gets em ... 🙂
The two greatest sci-fi/horror movies ever made are this movie and The Thing. If you watch one then you should also watch the other.
I've only ever seen the first sequel to this move (Aliens), which is also great, but it's more of an action movie than a horror movie.
The first sequel, ALIENS, is just as good.
“How did it get so big, so fast?”. That’s what she said!!! Great reaction….👍
Still a fond memory of my 80s childhood...
ripley and the cat are found 57 years later ! so those are stasis pods , and faster than light travel is still impossible ! as for ash , robot is not the correct term , android would be more fitting ! as an android would be an artificial human !
Well all robots have fluids. It's typically oil. Could also have a coolant.
@eviereacts the other woman, Lambert, also wanted to let them in. She even slapped Ripley. . Either her way, the movie had to happen 😁
Considering there's a post-apoc classic by the name of A Boy and His Dog, maybe they SHOULD have called this A Woman and Her Cat lol
Will you react to Aliens? I loved your comments about Jonsey ❤ I loved how you were still talking about Ripley's tiny little panties all the way up to when the Alien returns 😆 I think I saw this flick when I was 6 years old, and during that scene, I came of age!
You have to watch Aliens, that’s my personal favorite of the series!
It's crap.
Actually, had they drawn straws three wo9uld have survived. Not doing so proved to be a fatal idea for three crewmembers.
How have you not watched this yet?
I saw this when I was like 11 yrs old some
40 years ago .
Bilbo Baggins pack it in ☺🇬🇧
Evie, I just discovered your channel, and I love your reaction videos.
I don't think it would have been efficient. Like Ash the robot said : He's the perfect organism
Alright mmh.... hydrochloric acid????
@@eviereacts nah, something much nastier and more versatile than that... hydroflouric might come closer maybe (?)
I do remember my dad, who was a chemist, scoffing at the "molecular acid" suggestion by Dallas (Tom Skerritt). Said it was kind of a nonsense term, if I remember right (and it was a long tome ago and I am NOT a chemist!). Something to effect of "all acid - and anything else that isn't a pure element - is 'molecular'." :-)
