I played as the family that gets 50% less upkeep for auxiliary units and made armies strictly of auxiliary. It honestly kinda changed how I played Rome for a while and was super fun.
Anonnymouse Hacker I once had 4 pike fallanks (can’t remember how it’s spelled) a 12 unit army, i made a square and took out half the ai’s army before i lost.
@@fountainwater9 Yes this Hannibal was Hannibal Gisco: Commanding the Carthaginian army and fleet during the first punic war; not the Hannibal Barca of the second punic war.
Just started playing this again... mostly to get myself ready to get and play Attila. I love your videos and use them to set up my own campaigns. Currently just starting as Cornelius - so this will help I am sure. Thanks again.
Tim D same but currently, using the Auxiliary troops as Cornelius is great. Support the cheap but effective troops with decent artillery and you can support many more armies.
I know a lot of ppl hate rome II but i think it was awesome playing as Rome. With DeI I did a playthrough when i just tried to recreate the roman empire, the direction of conquest was given for every period, and i had to stop a lot of times with the conquest, it was really good, had to constantly watch my back, not just steamroll, it was the best campaign i ever played with a tw game. It took me like 500 turns to conquer everything i wanted. It was really enjoyable.
TonQar and? You want this guy to do manual battles all the time? The video would be way to long and most of the battles would be so Fucking boring that’s why autoresolve exists.
Please have more fun. It is fun to watch you have fun. Your newer Rome 1 Scipii was great and this Rome 2 episode is a shit tonne more enjoyable than some of your content the past few months.
Hey Legend, liking the longer videos and great seeing you play these campaigns for fun. For autoresolve, I'd vote for autoresolving the stomp fights for the most part unless you end up going a long time (30-45 mins maybe) without any fight since it'll break up the strategy map monotony, and definitely fight the real fights. Thanks for the series and look forward to watching.
Legend I got this last weekend Rome 2. I have to say I'm loving it. The battles are excellent, the Politics is very interesting but hard to understand that's why I'm watching this again. I'm half way through and Im learning a shit load of information. Great show you Incredible Bastard
I love the new format! Your the best youtuber because you don't baby us and you do what YOU want to do! You're the best in Total War and that can't be denied.
That’s what it’s all about..Having fun! You have already established you are a legend. With most things in life the more you enjoy it the better you will get.
Hello Legend, first of all (critism at the end of my comment), thank you very much for your videos! Although I do not enjoy all of your campaign - mostly because I have played a lot with Rome1 and Medieval2 as well, so I prefer the new games above the old ones, but I agree with you that the old ones are better designed, and developed. So it is a catch-22 for me, but I recently do not play, because of the time issues. I only watch, and I chose your channel, because I like your style of playing. This is the closest to the 'ideal' style - as far as I know - which I like, and try use, when I played, which is winning the camping with all cost. If the AI is dumb, then the developers have to do a better job, so abusing it is not a big deal for me, rather a good feedback for them. This is not your problem, when they did a bad job. You adapt yourself to their work. If they made a better game, you would have chosen another method to play. Sadly to say, a lof of viewers do not understand this. I have no problem with the new formats either. Rather this one with 90 min per episode as the other one with the cut scenes, but I understand the necessarily both of them to help to maintain your channel. I like also your enthusiam, it can be felt through the screen when you enjoy playing, and also when you hate the finish the campaign, because the difficulty is dropped after halfway. So these paragraphs were ass licking feedback. I have really watched a huge amount of your campaign (I recently watch the Total War Rome2 Carthage series among the recent ones) so I can compare the old ones and the new ones format. Constructive critisim: I know you brought a new computer, and you change the quality type of videos. I have an old one, so I can not watch with 720p60 because of the buffering issues. The max is 720HD or as in this one I can not choose this option (I do not know why), so I had to change back to 480p. My problem is, and if you use glasses, or lens you will understand, that you are playing the game with - as I imagine - in front of a huge screen with big screen resolution. It results in a smudginess image, same if I do not use my lens. I uploaded two pictures to show you the difference, one is this one, other one is from your Carthage campaign imgur.com/a/vRMz2 imgur.com/a/aV0Bm I know you prerecord your series, but in the future could you please solve this problem somehow with the screen resolution? It really burdens my eyes to watch this video. Thank you very much, and keep playing! Best wishes ps. sorry I am from Europe and my native language is not English, so it could have been difficult to understand my problem, but I hope I could describe it well.
Once i played rome and conquered all of northern africa, the greece peninsula, some of france and the whole of spain... guess what?! A civil war ignited, by that time i didn’t noticed that all of those generals would betray me of the betraying party. Just thought that there would be some rebels in italy only, so that fucked up my complete experience and all my time and effort because they all had full stacks with legionarie cohorts :D
True that there are no cultural difference penalty there, but the main reason you want your buildings is so you can upgrade them. If I remember correctly, you cannot upgrade other factions buildings, you have to convert them first. Unless that changed in some patch, since it has been a long time since I played Rome 2.
Been hoping you would do a new Rome 2 campaign for a while now, so it's very nice to see you do this. I only got this game at Christmas and your Rome 2 vids were a massive help to me when I first started and I was learning how to play. I would love to see you do a faction we haven't seen you handle yet in the future, like Egypt for example. It would also be nice to see a bit more variety in your army compositions, I've never watched one of your campaigns past half way because it gets a bit repetitive and dull watching armies of the same composition fighting in a similar way all the time. Obviously I'm not telling you how to run your channel or anything, just offering friendly advice, feel free to ignore it. 😉
I learned many things. Especially about politics and characters. Thank you bro. I chosen the house of junia. Now i'm rulling half of full map. Rest of factions, money, public order and culture are not problem. Only problem is recession and civil war. So understood that i didnt care of own generals. Always raised from other houses. So i lost influences.
I havent played in about 10 years and i really want to know what kind of PC should I get and what specs should it have. I am getting a pc within a month and this game is a must buy for me! Thx everyone
This game can run on anything, with a Intel hd 4400 and a I5-4200u-both 4 yrs old from a 600$ laptop, I get almost always 30 fps on the lowest settings @1080p
Thank fuck you're doing this. Having done this campaign myself on your favorite difficulty, I'm interested in seeing as to what you think like outside the 'pro' box and just being yourself.
4:38 In M2TW and TWR1 (the only ones I have...) I usually fight obviously ending battles manyally when I need the satisfaction of dying eastern infantries or lancer charges, just for fun.
So far, in a Rome Campaign, I have stabilized my economy by going down the economy route, instead of philosophy. I now have +4000 in revenue every single turn, and I am barely on Turn 10
I know this is super late but I'm really enjoying the Spartan campaign, ive been taking my time trying to do everything right lol no attrition dangit 😂 my Army (Prometheus Anvil) has been putting in work!!! I'm really enjoying the army traditions! Kimda skipped over rome 2 and hadnt really played it much until recently and I cant stop playing it.
House of Cornelia is overpowered if you want to exploit the auto-resolve and rush through the campaign. -50% auxillary upkeep means that Auxillary Short Swords (which are slightly better than Hastati) only cost 45 talents per turn (half the price of Hastati). -50% public order penalties from foreign cultures is nice too early game, but becomes obsolete late game once you start stacking public order settlements (+90 happiness from buildings if you max out all the wine, dye, marble etc settlements), not to mention the bonuses from the legal technologies.
legend you should make a shogun 2 total war video next... its definitely not because thats the only one i don't own and i want to get it on sale... nope. on a more serious note love watching your series, and the more laid back attitude is fun, though you winning so casually makes me feel like im terrible when i barely scrape by on legendary.
Found this one now. Out of curiosity if you ever read this (doubt it, but still): why no Gens Cornelia? Was the -50% upkeep to auxiliaries not in place at this time? Or... was it part of your "having fun" goal, or finally, you didn't think it was a good bonus?
When your ready, I would love to see this rome 2 doing the declare war on every faction challenge. but i am super excited to see you play rome 2 again, looking forward to a good campaign. As for Auto-Resolve, I think do when its impossible to lose. Or when its say, 60 to 40. Anything below 60% win chance, might be wothwhile fighting. And maybe for the fun of it, every now and then, show off your military might by fighting a super easy battle and annilate your enemies.
By the way, Legend, armies that have been sabotaged may still be able to attack. If you do not have a critical success, the army will only be able to move half of its usual distance. Only if your agent achieves a critical success is it not able to move at all.
About Winter lasting two weeks.. Here in Melton (Vic) we get what we call Melbourne weather. Basically it can get quite cold and rain randomly. I'm guessing you're from more north.
1st turn i like to build temple of poseidon (FOOD) in brundisium and upgrade the city main building to CIVIL (+1 CULTURE). I also like to build a farm in neopolis. I always build a farm in Capua first chance. ALWAYS SECURE PROMOTION FIRST TURN.
Rome 2 with Divide Et Impera with the Faster Combat mod (otherwise battles take forever) that makes this game not only playable but highly enjoyable. The game is hard while making sense. It also slows it down with real life factors like logistics supply and seasons affecting mobility. The diplomacy also MAKES SENSE - it's actually a work of genius. If anyone wants to write off Rome 2 - play DeI first and then make your verdict. For me, DeI is how this game SHOULD have released.
In My rome 2 campaign as rome i was getting a civil war every 20 turns or so, it did n't seem to have any thing with control, which was pain in the ass.
I find giving agent's other traits to for example I like to give a spy zeal so they can commit arson easily but yeah I usually just give my dignateries authority too ( sorry for the bad grammar or English spelling)
I'd prefer you auto resolve battles that are completely one sided (eg unoccupied town assaults) but if there is any modicum of difficulty then do it manually. I've found that sometimes battles with trash units in the early game can be some of the hardest, most fun and memorable battles I've had in the Total War series. I know you play to win on the strategic level but watching the tactics unfold is where most of the fun is!
I wish the map were much bigger, kind of like the Rise of the Republic map, but to encompass the entire campaign regions.... with smaller and more numerous regions to conquer... I'm sure in history Romans had to fight "a lot" of barbarian villages and settlements to gain control of a region.
I actually enjoy watching you beat the crud out of armies, even if it was a given that you would win. I don't care if it's one or two units though, my thought on the auto resolve question.
You take such a different approach to me. I held only the first two provinces for ages and built up my towns, cripple the Etruscan and syracuse by defending and having 5 towns. Ill be pushing out tonight with advanced navy, balista triari and legionaires. To take the med. Have i let the spartans run amok for too long? Was preventing the civil war only pushing it back till later? I was hoping to convert to empire before it. By waiting have i let a different faction get too mich of a head start?
DON'T FLAME BUT I HAVE SOME CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM. I love the vids and i am not here to change them in anyway shape or form to suit my needs. It is just a wee bit of feedback. The only issue i have with the long ass videos is when you think about it that is 1 and a half hours out of my day to spend watching a video and on top of that their may be another one or two ranging from 30 mins to an hour and thirty. Now the reason this is a problem is because someone without a lot of time on their hands may not be able to enjoy the video due to this. There is nothing wrong with the content itself but it is the amount of it. I understand it keeps the series short which is great however that is a huge commitment for someone to take an hour and a half or multiple out of their day to sit down and watch their favorite total war youtuber. You could argue that i could just skip through the video to reach the end but i don't watch them to do that. I do know a nice balance needs to be found and i also know that you are working on it but at the end of the day it is just my personal opinion which could be wrong on many levels and maybe i am the only one who has issues committing to the videos. Again i would like to clarify that i have no issues with the actual content it is just the amount thrown at me at once :) If you see this legend i would really appreciate a response of some kind because i want to know your opinion either through comment or addressing the issue in one of your vids. I would also like to address again that i could be completely wrong and it should be me to find time to watch the vid and not the other way around. I will end on love your vids nevertheless and i love the fact you are uploading in 60fps.
I understand that some people cannot watch 90 minute episodes every day. However, ever since i've started making 90 minute episodes my channel has been growing for the first time in over a year. My stats are way up on what they were before. If you cant watch the whole episode in one go you can always come back and watch it later. No individual series gets daily uploads so you usually got 2-3 days to watch that 90 minute video. The videos never get taken down so you shouldnt be in any rush to watch them.
Cheers for the relply and thankyou. I understood while writing the comment that i don't have any statistics to suggest that it is or isn't working for you. I also understand that it is maybe more efficient for you. I will stick to what i usually do which is watch a completed series rather than feel pressured into watching the episodes as soon as they come out. The Oda blitz campaign however... I click on that shit as soon as it comes out :) Thankyou for replying and i fully understand the current method works great for you :)
You don't actually have to hold the victory point in minor settlements, the enemy will get a morale boost if they take it but I think that's it. In a battle like the one around 1:20:49 I would have stuffed all my units into some tiny corridor off somewhere between buildings so I could funnel and fight pretty much their whole army with the one principe unit and break out/flank on the other side with the rest. Not criticizing at all, i don't know if the result would have been any better anyway, but probably would have been a lot less stressful lol
This is so old I'm probably asking a dead question. When choosing pit mines in Italy early. Do you see any benefits from the meeting place tab for building to increase commerce local? I didn't know if the bonus going to a market and commerce vs raw industriay?
No benefits in having meeting place because mines give more money without food cost. And mines are getting upgrades along when he upgrades the tier of the settlements. However, if you're interested in maximizing income, the economy and commerce buildings gives you more money. But developing that technology takes time. Time better used at researching other more useful things.
Im still butthurt of Rome2. I love this era in history, and it could have been the best TW game to date, but instead we get a mediocre game. Great lets play either way. I love the new direction the chanel has taken

As for Auto-Resolve, I think do when its impossible to lose. Or when its say, 60 to 40. Anything below 60% win chance, might be wothwhile fighting. And maybe for the fun of it, every now and then, show off your military might by fighting a super easy battle and annilate your enemies.
the game has changed alot in 7 years
I like when you auto resolve just makes things a hell of a lot quicker.
By the way, Legend, armies that have been sabotaged may still be able to attack. If you do not have a critical success, the army will only be able to move half of its usual distance. Only if your agent achieves a critical success is it not able to move at all.
This isn't his first rodeo...
Joseph Jones I know. I only commented that because Legend seemed surprised, that's all.
About Winter lasting two weeks.. Here in Melton (Vic) we get what we call Melbourne weather. Basically it can get quite cold and rain randomly. I'm guessing you're from more north.
Kanaya Maryam he's from NSW I don't think anyone who hasn't met him know exactly where he lives or the area
Ah I see.
dude your awesome because you all play and not all talk
I almost jumped with joy as I saw you doing this.
Always found the campaign map side of thins much more interesting than doing actual battles so I like auto resolving myself unless I really need to
definitely like the 60fps video a lot
Good for you, for doing what you want and just playing games to have some good ol fashioned fun.
Never knew the opening advisors voice was David Robb's.
Legend, play this game with Divide et Impera. Adds a lot of depth to a rather shallow game, and Area of Recruitment units are awesome!
Legend I prefer your channel's new style so keep up the awesome work
29:38 "I think diplomacy in this game is very bad"
Wait, is there a TW game where the diplomacy is good?
Three Kingdoms has tried tho
In My rome 2 campaign as rome i was getting a civil war every 20 turns or so, it did n't seem to have any thing with control, which was pain in the ass.
Well, you suck
yup you only get civil war once if you pick empire..
yup you only get civil war once if you pick empire..
Miss that grain where it multiplies by x2 now its only bonus per region local province. Rip to the industry based provinces
I find giving agent's other traits to for example I like to give a spy zeal so they can commit arson easily but yeah I usually just give my dignateries authority too ( sorry for the bad grammar or English spelling)
First time here...you've got my sub, thx mate.
Tip though: Your armies replenish faster if you fortify than being inside a city/settlement
I actually love to see campaign fights
You have really helped me out. The game manual is crap and I expected more after paying the 58.00. Thanks!
Am I dreaming? This is too good to be true...
Again i would like to clarify that i have no issues with the actual content it is just the amount thrown at me at once :)
If you see this legend i would really appreciate a response of some kind because i want to know your opinion either through comment or addressing the issue in one of your vids.
I click on that shit as soon as it comes out :)
Thankyou for replying and i fully understand the current method works great for you :)
Yes please do battles were there is a chance of you loosing. My Grandad told me a story of a time when you lost a battle.
Is it just me or is it so that if a province revolts the army always spawns in the first settlement you took of that province.
I did not know that I wanted to watch this series.
1:19:05 you almost said princhipes yourself as well lmao
“I am smarter” *SPAMS AUTO RESOLVE* Yes legendary difficulty is so ez
What’s up
Hes going for efficiency by doing that that can be considered a smart move. So he can back up what he said so
I had hope for an Epirus campaign but this is still good :D
Ugh. The Mechanics in this game are god awful.
Especially the civil war.
Just straight out random and makes little to no sense.
i love it, makes the game more fun
yeah its like 'you have secured total dominion of your faction oh wait jk surprise buttsex'
***** I wouldn't mind a civil war if it would at least make sense.
In this game, it doesn't.
Pretty much everything about this game is trash.
The only praise I can give it is this: the animations look quite nice.
El Monstero29 lol wat
Re: Should you autoresolve? The thing is if you should never enter a battle you aren't going to win, we may never see a single battle
The third Roman faction is easy mode. You basically don't have to worry about public order.
