20th Century Fox's FATSO (1980) was Ann Bancroft's only feature film as a writer/director and the first film made under Mel Brooks's BROOKSFILM production company.

Anne Bancroft was a genius she created an amazing and touching movie
Very interesting look at the embryo of a film. I wonder if other films do this much.
Doris Roberts as Antoinette would have been very interesting in the final film (she is a magnificent actress) but Anne Bancroft was a better choice.

So it was a short film before it became a full length film in 1980? I was not aware of this. Dom had a beard in this one and was clean shaven in the later film. And someone else is playing his sister.
