Not just that but maybe he also loved Taylor’s explanation of a women’s experience on relationship where thee communication broke down. What I love about this song is that it’s showing both perspectives of a relationship.

Taylor's biggest appeal is in her songwriting-she has written every song she has ever put out, including her only official cover which she changed so much the original band gave her a writing credit (Untouchable). Don't let her biggest singles (Me!, Shake It Off, Bad Blood, Look What You Made Me Do) trick you-she's a really brilliant storyteller.

To be more accurate; she has written or co-written nearly all the songs on her albums (except some of that Christmas EP from 2007). She has also done some covers very well (in the Live Lounge)--American Girl (Tom Petty) and Can't Stop Lovin' You (Phil Collins), Riptide (Vance). On the first album, three (of 11) were just her; on Fearless seven (of 13), Speak Now was all hers; but she likes to co-write, so each album is different. Aaron Dessner of The National co-wrote 11 of the tracks on folklore; Justin and "William Bowery" also worked on this song. @@robertthompson7242 She is actually the solewriter of all her songs.. she recorded them on her phone then send to producers then thy write and finish ot together... her cowriters specially Liz said that she has 50-90 percent of the material before going to studio sessions and liz also said she wasn't just needed there most of the time, she'll add little things to the songs or help trim down a 20 min song to 5mins... like in All Too Well
The hype with her is that she has always write her own music and she is a great song writer.
A lot of folks who have only heard the radio tracks never realize she deliberately releases singles that don't represent the album. like red herrings. For Swifties, it is sort of a joke. They are fun bops; but the real interesting songs are always on the tracks that are NOT singles. It is one reason she has sold more albums than anyone else (aside from Adele's album, 25) for over a decade. Hell, she sold over 1.3 million copies of this album the first 24 hours, according to Billboard. Each record is a bit different--the first few, her label pushed the country sound hard. She stopped letting them dictate to her when her third album sold a million physical albums in a week. That was Speak Now; Red, 1989, and Reputation each improved her first week sales; Lover didn't sell as many physical copies, but is selling more streams, so it will end up about the same after a year or so. Doc, the song you'd probably like first, though, is the soundtrack she did with Zayn for Fifty Shades Darker. Taylor is one of music's greatest songwriters. Her lyrics cut deep. This track is no different. Especially when another fantastic artist like Bon Iver comes in an co-writes it. This track has been stuck in my head since the album dropped and it destroys me every time. Really hits close to home.

Her collaborator on that one was Gary Lightbody, a lead singer from Snow Patrol. Irish rock band. Listen to the live version, first; vocals are better live, imo, but the studio version instrumentals are excellent. Producer on the song was from Snow Patrol too, so it sounds a bit different; but Swift is always experimenting when people aren't paying attention.

Tay is 100% compulsive songwriter. Have you listened to her Reputation album? Plus she’s a great musician, give her a piano or guitar and she doesn’t need a band. I don’t see it on your list, but one popular video is the 2018 AMAs, I did something bad. There is also a behind the music series and behind the song series that shows her writing and in the studio, they are short clips but you might like to see it.
