As a black retired woman who worked hard for 36 years to have a decent pension, I have always been terribly offended by that word reparations....and also affirmative action. I am the sole person of my destiny and with hard work and mental fortitude, I absolutely detest everything that reparations stand for. None of us lived during the era of owning slaves.

The only people obsessed with race nowadays are racists. Black, white, Asian, whatever. "Hispanic?" Means "speaks Spanish." How is THAT a race? The picture of ICE-T, and self-proclaimed black person, on the cover of O.G. is lighter skinned than my father, who was considered "white." Asian? Go to Japan and tell them they're "Asian," essentially the same race as the Chinese and see how far that gets you. In China, the northerners, the "Han" Chinese, look down on the southern Chinese, and both look down on non-Chinese. The notion of race is childish in today's age, but also very natural, as the recognition of the "other" by visual cues is a genetic predisposition. That said, we are not animals, and can make conscious choices. Racists are a-holes.
It wouldn't _end_ actually, just as _sinning_ won't ever end and _lying and stealing_ won't ever end ... but it surely would become a lot less noticeable and troublesome.

The Civil War was about the north and south regarding cotton and slaves. The north came to the south and murdered, rsped, burned out and stole from settlers who had no slaves. A lot of plantations still stood. The first 12 presidents besides Adams owned slaves. The Europeans washed up on American to escape taxes in England brought their indented slaves with them. The south released their slaves a year before the north released their slaves and indentured slaves. Was that fair? So the north owned slaves but fought the south over theirs? Poor people didn't own slaves. But they got the worst treatment from the mongerel north.
Conald Trump had polish slaves that worked on trump tower. He took their work visas made them live in squalor, and didn't pay them if not paid them. He was fined 14 million for hiring illegals.

I'm white, and I have absolutely NO guilt for people whose ancestors were slaves. I had NOTHING to do with slavery.
My family of 6 children, with my single, uneducated mother raising us children, grew up just as poor as the blacks did. We actually lived in the backwoods in the South, in the neighborhoods with the poor and mistreated black people. The blacks were discriminated against when we lived in their communities, and the people claiming discrimination today, HAVE NO IDEA WHAT DISCRIMINATION IS, OR WAS.
My ancestors came to America in the 1700's, and some of them came here to be servants to the elite in this country. Many white people from Europe had to come here because they were basically sold to serve the wealthy families living here, or to work in the textile industries, and other industries that needed cheap laborers. White women and children were used to do those jobs and were paid the bare minimum, rarely enough to feed or care for their own.
I owe no one of any race anything other than love and to treat them with common decency.
Get a job and make it work for you and your families. Figure out what you can do to get where you want to go, without expecting others to give it to you, no matter what race, color or class you are in.
No one is asking for handouts but what is owed to us from Chattle Slavery, not just your regular salary, there is a difference and also the mistreatment and discrimination that you said and understood. Jim Crow, redlining and economic sabotage that my family has endured but reparations will be paid for (FBA) ✌🏾
You are correct when you say that you don't owe Black people anything. However, the government is an entirely different animal. And since even after slavery ended, Black people in particular suffered because of laws in which the government wrote, then the government has to make it right. Imagine if you had a lawsuit against the government for wrongdoing, but you died before it was finalized. Wouldn't you want your family to get whatever was owed to you? I think it's fair to say that the former slaves and all the so-called free Blacks during the Jimcrow error had a right to sue the government but never got a chance. America sends money 💰 and rights wrongs to everyone except their own. I'm for a one-time reparations to all existing Blacks living in America today who are the descendants of Slaves. If you are not a citizen or if your family was not slaves then you are not entitled to anything. Just my opinion.

You speak on whites becoming slaves to the wealthy but you never spoke on their families being taken from them, raped, lynched, etc. the atrocious is not the same!!!!!
She is so right. My family fought against slavery before the civil war. Underground railroad people. The first republicans. My great uncle was wounded at Fredriksburg and won the medal of honor. My grandmother brought the first black family into her Methodist church in the early sixties and was ostrasized by other members leading her to mental collaspse. John Brown’s body lays a mouldering in the grave but his truth is marching on. The democrats and their supporters should be paying the price for their wrongs.

This is where I disagree with him I've always been a fan of your content but here is where I draw the line I believe they should pay black people reparation they gave it to the Indians and they gave it to the Chinese people if our ancestors were given a fair chance and not discriminated against or red line so many of them would have done the right thing with their opportunity to better the generations that have already came after them including us soul to make up for that Gap give their generations some checks to help them
Just because you can't use the money or your family was fortunate you got to think about this a lot of other people aren't that fortunate and if their ancestors would have had that opportunity things could have probably been different from them
No you should leave that topic along nobody's trying to play victim but our ancestors were robbed of great opportunity that could have helped the future generations so there are some people nowadays that would be living completely different if our ancestors would have been given a fair opportunity
Reparations could help back in the day when they were given that land in one generation it was gone maybe instead of just giving money or land give the right tutelage as well
