More emphasis on outdoor education in teacher education and training

Outdoor education as a teaching method is a natural part of the Norwegian government's investment in practical teaching methods resulting in the enrichment of school life for both pupils and teachers.
On the 13th and 14th of April 2023, Norsk Friluftsliv and six outdoor living organizations collaborated with Western Norway University of Applied Sciences and offered a selection of short courses in outdoor education for 320 student teachers at Lake Skomakerdiket in Bergen.
The short courses focused on how nature can be used as an arena to stimulate learning and growth, providing the student teachers with new insights and inspiration.
The outdoor living organizations are ready to do our part in preparing tomorrow’s teachers live up to the Norwegian government’s goal of creating a more practical school for all pupils in Norway.
