Honestly it was a HUGE improvement. I can't speak for the other styles of BC coilovers, but the DS series (digressive strut coilover) improved the handling of the car significantly. To start, it made the car look super aggressive with the low sleek stance. It dropped the front about 2.5" and rear about 3". It eliminated almost all of the car's body roll. There is still some minor side to side body roll or weight transfer. However, under hard breaking the nose of the car barely dips and under hard acceleration the car stays for the most part completely level (I want this for drifting b/c I need weight upfront for steering // drag racers would want a softer rear spring rate like 5,000Nm). I'm taking it on track next week to do some grip racing so I will comment on the high and slow speed cornering ability in the next video. As far as street-ability goes well worth the money!!!! Very comfortable NOT stiff and NOT bouncy like cheap/inexpensive coils. I can't exactly explain what caused it, but the steering also feels a little bit lighter. Right now I left the spring rates the same as they came (10,000 Nm Rear & 7,000 Nm front). I'm going to make the rear a little bit stiffer to help it slide a bit easer and prevent rubbing under large spring compression. I would recommend them to a friend :) Get the DS series.... I heard the basic linear strut BC coilover isn't great on this car. For what its worth it also took some weight out of the car. those transverse leaf springs add up. Cheers! Happy hunting
Here's an idea... don't use a 3 foot breaker bar extension on a 3/8" drive. That's why 1/2" drives exist. You say you have "really big tires" but it would be really helpful if you told people what that means. It would be really helpful to someone considering this upgrade to know your wheel size, backspacing, offset, and tire size.
How do the coil overs work on highway and street driving, would it be worth changing to this? I have a 98 C5 and I feel and hear while driving I need a new suspension.
That module you did not know what was for controls the electric signal to the mag shocks. You can throw them away as you no longer have mag shocks. The resister does not work on F55 system
regular... and I would not recommend the "extremely low" version. I slammed the coils when I first got them and the car was literally undrivable. I hit anything and everything on the road lol. If low is what you want the standard DS series coils will get you there ;)
@@gwg240 I just ended up buying QA1 coilovers from Summit since they are local to me. On my way home this crack head started honking and yelling go back to California even though I’ve lived in Texas my whole life. He was high and ended up following me into a gas station where he floored it and crashed into me for no reason at all. Anyways rear tubing on the chassis is bent and rear tub was cracked. Pretty sure insurance is going to total out my C5. I only had it for 3 months. Guess I’ll just focus on my C6 but I’m so pissed.
I've been considering installing the coilovers on my 2001 Vette, but I'm worried the shock tower mounts weren't designed to handle the weight of the car. Have you heard of any issues with it?
I will be completely honest with you... I have not heard of that ever being an issue. I know a few people who track C5s with coils.... no issues! I drive my C5 really hard and I was just under it again installing an SLR angle kit. I adjusted my ride height again and checked all the bolts to make sure they didn't come to loose. There were zero signs of damage to the body or strut tower. I also drive on garbage Michigan roads (potholes) every day. If you are really that worried I would recommend a front and rear strut tower support bar. However, in my opinion, I don't think you need to worry about it.
thank you for the positive feedback! in my opinion, your car is an extension of your personality so sometimes you just gotta own it and do what you like regardless of what you think other people will think of you.
What size wheel and tires are you running? Are those OEM C6 Z06 wheels, or aftermarket? Will be interested in your feedback on the handling on the track (grip, not drift).
Yes, you are correct they are OEM Z06 wheels. Front 18x8.5 offset +56 Rear 18x10.5 offset +56 I also have these wheels wrapped in Nitto NT 555 tires. Front 245x40 Rear 285x40 The wheels and coils did really really good on the track. I posted a grip racing track day video on our YT channel check it out. The corvette felt like it was on rails! point and shoot. no body roll.... no brake drip.... just a little understeer into the turns when really pushing the car.
What you need to do is find a local racing shop and then have them put it on scales and balance the car out. Just putting them on and guessing will make the car hard to drive and squirly.

P.S. There was a downside..... it took 2 month to finally get them after initial purchase on 4/5/2021

Corvette c5 beautiful. It's a real man's car.
It'd be easier to break the lug nuts initially before getting off the ground FYI; but nonetheless, awesome work son!
Great video dude! I've been looking for a tutorial for the F45 delete with the 10W10ohm bypass... love it

very informative appreciate all the small details ... subscribed 😁
Thanks for the sub!
Did you end up with any clunking noises from the coils?

Jesus christ, glad I finally came across this reply. Been going nuts trying to find an answer to this. Thanks!

You can buy plugs from Ebay for cheap to take care of the F45. It can also be deleted via a Tech 2. The F55 is not an option for a 97 model
what plugs ?? can you link them
I like the Gold Wheels over the Black, that’s just me 🤷🏽♂️ I like to “Bling It” as well as being able to “Bring It”! Sweet 😘😜😂😂😂 👍🏽

We will put the Vette on scales in a few months thanks for the advice
Will pinch the brake line ??? 7:25
Looks good, what's up with the door gap on the driver's side?
This Corvette has a rebuilt title. It was hit in the driver front corner before we bought it.
Great vid man very helpful

Great, now that you think you've fixed your problem, the first incline you drive over you realize you still rub your fenders.
The stance life requires sacrifice
