This a great video - a life saver on a Sunday afternoon. One problem I had (probably all my own doing) is that I had to remember to hold the white part pretty firmly into the black part while rotating to wind in the line, since it keeps trying to fly apart (which is disappointing if you have almost finished). These videos are a terrific support - thanks.
Great video - super quick and to the point and good advice on going a little short on the line length. For non-metric users - I'd cut the line no more than 11-12 ft (don't go to the full 4m (13.1ft)
Thank you! Just sorted out my 86 R with your help. I can't believe that the Stihl instructions only deal with assembling the machine and not how to refresh the line. And they don't seem to have their own video to help.
Great to hear the video was helpful. It’s just one of those things manufacturers assume people know how to do, which is not always the case. Happy strimming.
Very helpful video which Stihl should have made themselves as how to wind on new line is not clear from the manual. One point not mentioned is that when rotating the white part of the head to wind on the line the black cap can become loose so make sure you check is is tightened before using the device.
Thank you for your explanation, appreciate. One question : after the reload, you starting to use the trimmer. Once it remains 2 cm, how you manage to exit more rope from the trimmer head ? Do you need to tap on the ground ? Or it is automatic ? I’m struggle with this step with my FS 38. Thanks for your answer and continue your videos 😊
I’ve never done that with this particular strimmer, but if Stihl sell one that can attach to the motor head, then it could potentially be OK. Might be worth contacting their support team.
This is the way I do it now - far better than “tapping”. How to Extend the Line on Your Line Trimmer Manually, Eliminating the Need for Tapping ua-cam.com/users/shorts65CgqVAqxAE
Thank you, this is really helpful as the instruction manual does not show how to change the line.
You're welcome. Glad it helped. Happy strimming.

Thanks for the comment and fully agree with going shorter and not overfilling the spool. Thanks for watching.

Yes, I tap ours on the ground to release more line.
@@MyHomeFarm ok thanks, I haven’t the feeling that it works but I will try tomorrow.
Have a nice evening !
If it’s not, the line might be trapped so you may have to unscrew the cover.
I’ll also film another short video this week to demonstrate how to pull the line out manually without having to “tap”.
@@MyHomeFarm Can’t waiting how you deal with that 😊
Do you know if i can attached a 3T cutting blade on this strimmer🙏🏾

Thanks for the video, how do you feed the line whilst using?
Do you mean getting more line out while strimming?
@@MyHomeFarm yes 👍

If you wouldn't talk quite so fast it would be easier to follow
