Amazing set up. Impressed with your carpentry work. I am looking to set up my own layout this autumn and use the summer for planning and preparation. However I find two items daunting, namely (i) carpentry and (ii) creating city tyoe buildings etc . Look forward to follow your progress. David
Thanks David, appreciate the comments on the carpentry, it’s definitely a skill I picked up along the way. One thing I did was start small and go from there, so I’d just advise practicing skills at a small scale first before tackling something bigger 👍 Best of luck!!
Now, this is looking seriously impressive, I don't know whether I dare show my grandson. I don't want him getting silly ideas. He has enough on his own without any help from others. Really looking forward to following your progress.... Cheers James 🙂👍
Thanks! The Irish Railway Models website is my first go to. Then you have Marks Models and also Modellers Corner in Fermanagh will usually have some. That said, most of the locos have been bought at modelling shows, from eBay when they make an appearance or privately from other modellers 👍
Thats a lovely big space.blocks of apartments here in dublin built on smaller spaces.curious as to how msny of the new 141/181s ya have coming.im a kid of the 70s so the park royals and cravens are what i saw most of.cant stand the galway livery seems to have dated badly.looking forward to your progress. Cheers Dara
Thanks Dara, yeah the Galway livery never really took off did it? I have one of the new 141s on order, I have 10 already and am pretty comfortable modifying them and adding sound so don't have huge urgency about getting more - looking forward to seeing what's been updated though!
@@riverbankrailways iv 3 ordered.my era is 70s so all cie.iv one 071 which cost 350 euro last year one a class and one 121.its sll so expensive second hand.i repainted some mk1 triang coaches to look like cravens.will do at a distance..you must have spent a fortune on locomotives its an impressive collection.
Cheers Dara, yeah I've built it up over the last 3 years or so, I did spend a "little" more than planned but I'm happy with the collection now (plus what's on pre-order) so diverting money towards the layout for the forseeable future
@@riverbankrailwaysdoing itish we don't have a huge amount of locomotives and liveries like the uk which is a saving in its self. Oil wagons from irm be next.im really slow at doing anything. I'm on year 3 of trying to build the locomotive shed at Connolly station.and still not started a layout yet.
I'm looking forward to those oil wagons alright! And yeah we don't have a huge amount of liveries, I do like personalising each loco though and giving it a story :) Being slow isn't a problem, it's a hobby after all ;)
