Cobra Kai was already relevant due to the fact that Johnny had won the All Valley twice, apart from the other Fighters and the placements they achieved in the tournaments. Miguel is far from being responsible for the greatness of Cobra Kai

This tournament really put things into perspective. Kreese and Silver's Cobra Kai wouldn't have won without cheating and bribes. But Johnny's kids took home the trophy in the first season on skill alone. Granted, Miguel was brutal and shortsighted, but Johnny's Cobra Kai never had to buy their trophy.
