    I more or less learned Thai language over the years by engaging Thai people and practicing my Thai ( Hut Pood Pasa Thai )
    When I first started to learn I was thinking a person ( any person) has to learn the Thai words used to ASK what is the Thai name for anything that you would want to know the name for and learn another word.
    So, I learned how to say / and how to *ask* in Thai language,
    What is this?
    What is that ?
    What name in Thai language?
    What word in Thai lanquge?
    How do Thai people say the name for this or that?
    After I had Thai people that can speak English well *teach me* how to ask *those questions* in Thai language.
    And then, using a small note book I would write in English dpelling the names or words used for various items or objects that I wanted to know and then ask Thai people,
    : What is this?
    *Nee, Chur Arai"
    Or
    What is that?
    *Nan, Chur Arai*
    What is the name in Thai ?
    *Pasa Thai, Pood Yang Nai?
    Thai people use what word ?
    *Khon Thai Chai Cum Alai*?
    This, this what is the word used.
    Nee, Nee cum arai??
    Then after hearing how the word is spoken and listening to *the sound*, I would then write down that word in my note book and write *the sound* of the word and written down the *way it sounded* using the English word letters and used in a manner that I thought *the sound* should be written down and then spoken....such that I would speak it correctly...including notes for the rising or falling tone or sharp tone aspect of the spoken Thai word.
    Sort of like my own Thai language *sound interpretation* and wtiiten down the way that I would read how I had written down *the sound*
    Then if I did not use that word for some time or forgot what the Thai name was for say a glass ( a drinking glass ) I could go back to my little note book and find the word written in English and *My Interpretation* of how the word is properly spoken in Thai language.
    So , for example *Glass* I had previously written down:
    *GAY-Ow* ...as that manner of spelling *the sound* would allow me to say the word correctly .. or at least *closer*: to being the correct sound and the way Thai people say it and or *hear* the spoken word.
    Because, I quickly learned that for many Thai words if you do not say those words correctly and or the way that the Thai people say those words and or how they use those words in structured sentences and pharase... then many Thai people do not know or understand what is the Foriegner saying and Thai people commonly respond by saying:
    *My Lroo Rue-Ung*
    Meaning : "I do not understand what he / she is saying" ...
    Because how you said it was not correct by a long shot or how you said it was slightly off and spoken *not exactly* the way Thai people speak it and or hear the spoken word ... Along with your foreigner accent that also confuses many Thai people never having met a foreigner trying to speak Thai language.
    .
    Anyhow *learning how to ask certain questions* helps to learn Thai language on your own.. in that respect
    Cheers

    As a man, if you go into a bar where there are bar girls working, you should be prepared for the questions ;) I would say they normally come in the following order: 1 What is your name? 2 Where do you come from? 3 How long time have you been here? Then they know if you are a possible victim or to experienced for them haha.

      @@ThaiwithMod Yes it is! I havent found that out totaly by myself thou. The bar girls that are out for money, want easy victims. If the man show confidence, has been in Thailand some times and even speak some thai, then only the social bar girls want to talk haha.

    Do Thai people really ask people's age or whether they have boyfriend/girlfriend during first time meeting? It seems a little too personal to ask such things when meeting someone for the very first time😅

  • @Warrioruk
    @Warrioruk 4 місяці тому

    I've heard that "pusao" also means girlfriend. Is that true?

    • @Didiandtheball
      @Didiandtheball 2 місяці тому

      Yes but pusao is a dialect word from North Eastern Thai and you need to rely on context.
      Normally pusao alone means just a female.
      Also, if you are in Bangkok, pusao is not a common word that people will understand you.

    • @Warrioruk
      @Warrioruk 2 місяці тому

      @@Didiandtheball So when I ask someone "Khun mii pusao raw" it's already clear that I mean girlfriend right? At least in the Isan region?
