Thanks I was able to order and change my Poppit Valve in 3 days and save part of my Vacation to get my 2003 250hpr Vmax 2stroke alarm to finally not sound! changed thermostats and now Pop Valve…my valve was the old style and it was corroded shut…alarm was sounding at low idle and neutral only. Ran fine and peed fine…just would get hot…my next change job will be to clean inside heads. Thx for the Vid!
I have alot of white smoke and overheat alarm comes on after 30 secs. I turned engine off and let idle and still white smoke from exhaust. Poppet valve? 2007 optimax 150. Liked and suscribed!
Thank you for watching and supporting the channel 👍🏽 I’d recommend removing the spark plugs and seeing if any look “new” compared to the others. If so you may have a head gasket that’s failed and leaking water into a cylinder that’s causing white smoke which is actually water vapor. (Worst case scenario) Best case scenario it’s a thermostat, impeller or poppet valve causing overheat. All rather easy fixes. Poppet valve issue will cause engine to over heat in neutral and low rpms. If your engine is over heating at higher RPMs, look at replacing your impeller and your thermostats Highly recommend using OEM parts so that you don’t second guess if the parts you replaced are working correctly
Hello I have a Yamaha outboard 2002 250 I have a problem when is on neutral for less the 2 minutes the alarm go on I replace the fuel filter the outboard oil sensor but still having the problem I have to run the boat and the alarm go off what I can do? Please let me know thank you
115 Yahmaha 4 stroke . Leaking oil thru intake manifold out the throttle body , I checked dip stick oil shooting out also . Any help to what it may be thanks
when you say shooting out the dip stick oil? is it that is as if its overfilled and leaks when you open it or is it actively shooting out of the dip stick opening? Also does the oil look contaminated?
@@ReelTeaseFishing thanks for the response . After noticing oil coming out thru manfold / throttle body . I just happen to check oil and when I lifted dip stick oil came gushing out . I recently replaced fuel pump inside vst canister . No issues up until fuel pump went bad
WIll this poppet valve cause bubbles to come from the mid section and water to squirt from the upper exhaust on a 2006 F150TXR. I have this issue with bubbles coming from where the mid section meets the lower unit as will as the engine section. I do not have any alarms going off. Just replaced the thermostat and the same thing was happening with the old thermostat.
I believe what you are seeing is a corrosion issue in your exhaust in the midsection Corrosion has eaten through it Look up midsection exhaust corrosion
Both of your PCV videos are very helpful. Replacing the PCV is a lot tougher than it looks (trying to line up the spring, valve, external gasket/seal, and internal grommet) but I am still working on it. How did you get the external gasket (PN 6G5-11382-A1-00 ) to adhere to the water jacket?
Have you seen my wooden dowel trick for the poppet valve replacement? It helps big time especially when trying to put this together without an extra set of hands. No doubt, it’s a PIA. Use a dab of grease on the housing so the gasket stays put. Good luck 👍🏽
I am working on a Yamaha 150 V6 for someone that has seen saltwater use and i plan to de-scale the cooling system Nand replace some corroded parts along with the poppet valve that looks identical to the one in the video. The hose connector/poppet housing/fitting that you took the 2 bolts out of that the hose clamps onto is badly corroded and needs replacing. My question is, do you know what that particular part is called? I cannot find a replacement one online ANYWHERE, used, new, aftermarket or anything. I really have searched it by many descriptions and names with no luck. Thanks for any help and enjoyed your video. Thanks again sir.

@@turner111971 does the alarm go away when you go up in rpm or start moving fast? If so then this is your problem Idle or low rpm overheat is usually due to a faulty poppet valve
Hello. First time starting engine back up today and overheated after couple minutes on earmuffs but water was pissing out..tried it on hose washout and ran fine..both situations had high rpms at idle like 1200...checked thermostats in water on stove and both opened..could this also be the poppet?
Will a poppet valve restrict your water cooling stream. My 200hp blackmax is trickling water out, alarm goes off at idle. Already replaced impeller and still have the issue with overheating and trickle stream. Does the poppet valve have any control over water flow?
The popper valve will play a role at idle and low RPMs. Usually the alarm goes away when the throttle is advanced. That’s the dead sign of a bad popper valve. Keep in mind some engines don’t like to run on a hose. They will overheat but in the water they don’t. It has to do with the home water pressure and no back pressure when it’s not sitting in the water. But yes a bad poppet will cause an overheat alarm sitting at idle

You need to change your impeller, you need to do your poppet valve and do your thermostats. You have an overheat issue.

If its overheating when it's at idle it could definitely be the poppet valve.
