Thank you!! I forgot that you had to have full health when you enter the room... this was driving me nuts!! It's been so long since I've done it I forgot. Now I feel old because of how long ago I remember doing this on the original SNES version!!! :)
I had the same issue playing it on an emulator (ZSNES). Played the whole game, got to the room, it was empty, and I thought the issue was that I didn't have Zero's parts. Maybe that is also a requirement? Anyway, I restarted the game, got Zero's parts, played all the way through, and it was still empty, but I didn't have full health. After I reloaded my state, used a subtank, I got it.
You know, back in 95 when I was playing megaman2x, Gamepro showed how to aquire it. But the actual challenge was complex as a teen. No internet vids or anything. But I completed it.
This is an excellent guide. From his power level, I can tell he has all of the heart tanks, and when he presses Start, you can see all 4 sub tanks. But I don't see Zero's parts, so I guess you don't need those.
I did it with crystalizing the bat, "wall jumping" the ceiling, jumping and dashing just before landing and then finally jump dash, face left, speed burner, which _I think_ is the legit way to do it, but it doesn't mean that anyone should feel bad by "cheating" a bit and just taking damage to skip the first few steps. I don't know if the third part is easier by first dashing and then speed burning or vice versa. So the first part is getting to that 2:17, the second is the following jump between the spikes and the third is the "dash-fall-turn-dash". Anyway, in my opinion, everyone should be aware of both ways and then select the easiest one. I think this one in this video is easier and I wish I would have known it before. I think it took like 50 tries, but luckily there's that extra life to give you instant tries. As for the "do I need to collect everything?", I don't have an answer. I had everything. edit. I played to there on Legacy Collection. I have Arm Upgrade and Dash Upgrade (have fun trying to get to the room without those :D ) and full energy with one subtank. I don't have a single Zero Part and I don't have a single health upgrade. The Light module is not there. And yeah, it is _way_ easier to do the way it is in this video, I got there on my second try.
I got the Mega Man X Legacy Collection (Which has an option for effectively infinite health), and I just got through MMX2. Nobody told me the rising dragon punch wasn't an instant kill! I think it takes half their health though. Everything about MMX2 is on hard mode!
I think it depends on the boss. I one shot Agile Flyer and some of the eight mavericks, but the ones like morph moth who has two phases it didn't work.
Well, i think it only one shots the phase of the boss as Morph Moth has two phases & Sigma (X2, Phase 2) only changes color when hit with Shoryuken. Oh, and THANK GODNESS the MMX2 Alpha devs didn't nerf the damage in their game!
Megaman x2 development team: "Let's make a similar thing to the hadouken we put in x1 but let's make it even more complicated to use alongside making it a close range move, any objections?"

Press forward, then down, then, while still holding down, roll your thumb back to forward and press attack. It should fire then. It’s supposed to be a quarter roll, but those kinds of moves can be wonky and hit-or-miss on reliability.
Finally got past the spikes after trying for a few hours. Only to get into the room and nothing was there. Because i was missing i little freaking bar of health... fuuuuuuuu
Well uhh, my first part was the arm part... And I didn't even needed the leg upgrade to get it... How you may ask? I just used sponge's wire weapon and perfectly framed it to the extent that as I was getting pulled towards the wall the extra jump height frames kept going up by like 4, and manage to cling to the wall and get the arm part 😂
@@MeteoritoMan there are 2-3 ways to get alot of these, the herat container in the croc stage can be done by a simple damagetank an dthen rapidly climb the spike wall while immune and the tank in the crab stage can be gotten by a walljump into waterskipping...you don't even need the charged bubble shot to get the hight if jumping at the right place. charged bubble shot is most new person friendly though just like airdash boots help for arm upgrade. With the right timing you can do it with wire sponge ( little harder )and crystal snail freeze into a wall jump can get you there as well. Ofc you got the hard speedrunner walldashjump without anything as well but good luck with that. I place my bet on the boots or sponge/snail weapon whichever I happen to have first.

At least we have it in X8

You need to find all sub tanks and all heart tanks before you can unlock the capsule

Funny how the 2 main characters of sf2 is ryu and ken thus shoryuken.
Yep. But also, "Ryu" means "dragon," and "Ken" means "fist." So the whole word means "rising dragon fist."
