Dr Pipe! Visited a potterton today with this set up, will be going back again...it’s had replaced the div valve diaphragm & the section behind it, the push rod still barely wants to come out to make dhw switch...is this an issue with something at the rear of the valve or the pressure in the 2 thin copper pipes? Any help much appreciated for a vulnerable customer! Cheers
Dr Pipe thanks mate sorted it, I rewatched the video & from your description worked out the venturi on the right hand block had fell to bits. Replaced it & all sorted! Very useful video, have never come across that issue in 15 years!
did you fix this???? I have same problem, changed all diaphragms, dhw sensor, pcb, still the the push rod barely moves, checked the thin copper tuber not blocked, the only thing have not replace/checked is the dhw filter but water pours out of the connection tubes.
@@timeyre9985 yes mate it’s the part on the video at 2:20 behind the brass plug on the right hand side. On the one I went to that check valve had disintegrated.
Very helpful video well explained, just like to ask how much water loss to expect when cold water in isolation tap turned off and both gauze filters removed for service cleaning.
Thanks for a very informative video. On our Main Combi 30 HE boiler, which looks to have the identical components here, during hot water demand, water is escaping to the heating circuit giving intermittent hot and cold water at the taps. On observing the diverter valve during operation, both the hot water pin and heating pin are pushed out but the heating pin stays out even when there is no heating demand, only hot water demand. Does this mean the components in the diverter valve heating portion are at fault or is it another component inside? The boiler and central heating has been power flushed less than a year ago and all else seems fine. The diaphragm in the front hot water portion of the diverter assembly has been checked and is in good condition. A couple of engineers have visited giving different opinions including change the diverter valve, change the diverter valve and the secondary heat exchanger and of course, change the whole boiler. Another said the plate heat exchanger was blocked. Appreciate any advice.
Very informative video. I've got Baxi 80E. Replaced diaphragm but hot water is only at high flow rates which is frustrating when doing dishes. What else should I check?
Glad you enjoyed it.. won’t be long for the tool bag tour x2 maybe next month. I’m flat out at work and trying my best to put at least 1-2 videos a week ..Thanks for watching.
thank u for your video, very well explained. I got Baxi duo tec 28 DHW problem. I have changed Diverter, motor is working, Heat exchanger is cleaned, C/heating working, DHW is fine with C/heating But without CH not getting hot water. Can u advise me on this problem. Dev
If the bypass check valve had broken would that stop the pump prooving sw pin rising? What issues would cause a pin tgat didn't fully lift apart from diaphragm
Great video! Really has helped me. Called out to a breakdown where both pins are rising when there is a hot water demand i have changed the diverter valve. Do you think it could be the filter on the hydro block on the right??
Main 24 HE filling loop is closed, but pressure gauge is over 2.5 to 3 bar upon which the PRV is releasing water outside. Would the culprit be the plate heat exchanger?
HI i have a Potterton combi that has a problem with intermittent hot water. some times it will work ok but will take some time to get hot other times it will not give me hot water then after some time will start to give hot water then it will go cold again then it will go hot and it will run OK but some times it will get very hot . some times it will run cold and not give hot water at all till you turn the hot tap off and then on again . what could be the problem ? the only time i checked the divert valve it had operated the micro switch and the hot water was working. it would be great if some one could give me some advice on what could be the problem ?as it is a bit frustrating
Thanks having the time brill videos no my boiler will start if you put hot water switch together but the pin on diaphragm keeps sticking got to get plumber out I replaced it once off eBay the part only lasted 7months thanks for info got to keep wife happy

Been having an issue with my 105he that I needed to turn two hot taps on for the boiler to recognise the call for heat. 2 local plumbers came out both have said it’s the diaphragm. So got it replaced and the fault stayed. After educating myself I found the plastic cap (you unscrewed) on the non return valve broken off causing equal pressure to the change over diaphragm. Flow circuit non return valve (you said check valve it’s actually a non return valve) was the issue all along! £13.50 and all sorted. Super simple mechanical system. Fucking brain dead plumbers all just want a digital screen telling them an error code.

Turn the iso off what happens 🤷♂️
@@drpipe apologies but what do you mean in layman terms? Appreciate your time.
Get a decent Baxi approved Engineer he should work that out in a Second.
The pin on top of the diverter is for monitoring the pump flow on heating and hot water
Hi I have an old baxi 80eco that locks out only when the central heating is switched on, could this be a flow problem?

Not necessarily
@@drpipe what else could it be? When the heating is on the pressure increases and releases water outside
Nice video
Pleased your enjoying the content 🙏
It’s not a check valve. It’s a Venturi to give you the push pull motion on the diaphragm
snigie my mistake I’m dyseleic but I’m sure you understood what I meant by a flow restrictor or whatever I said. That’s for watching.
Dr Pipe easy mistake.
Great videos by the way. 👍🏻

Can the CH water ever mix with the drinking water through the heat exchanger or anywhere else. On the boiler?
Split yes
@@drpipe A split inside the Exhanger ? Tell tale signs be discolouration of drinking water?
Can you do a video on the sequence of a boiler and what parts do what? And any tips in general? Thanks
I changed diverter valve but wen I run hot water, left pipe heat up heating flow heats up
I believe that design of flow turbine is actually a plunger that rises as the flow it made.

@@drpipe unfortunately not quite that easy but I would recommend plumbers start going back to basics and learn their craft.
