- I swore I wasn't going to buy any more guitars, but a deal popped up that I just couldn't say no to. $400. Yes, that's right...$400 for this 80s treasure! It needs a whole lotta work, but I'm just the kind of helping helper to get it done!
This thing was shipped from the UK to NYC, without a case. Did it survive intact?

I’m in favor of keeping the lower horn and neck as is. It looks like he took a lot of care in reshaping it, so to me it adds to the value and character of the guitar. It’s that much more unique.

Since it will never again be original, I would only restore the lower horn. Nice score. Please take us through your repairs and refinishing.

Ha ha, I totally feel you, brother. I was married and my (ex)wife always nagged at me about how many guitars I had, ugg...... I'm single now and I have about 350 guitars in my "Present" collection, more than half which I've made myself.....never have too many, .....well maybe, lol...great video, thumbs way up....
I’ve topped out at a MUCH lower number than you. Space is at a premium in a NYC apartment, that’s for sure!

nice score.. man, i was pleased to have kept my ESP "The Mirage Custom" from 1989.. bought used in 1990... NECK THU Maple alder wings.. pearl white.. ebony board with shark fin inlays.. white headstock paint.. EMGs HSS.. but with NON JACKSON lawsuit headstock.. one of the earliest ones.. its KILLER.. had to put an OEM FLoyd on it.. but it screams..
Dude! Just refinish it as it is! First thing I thought of when I saw it was Ace's Les Paul Deluxe from the early 70s.
Sick guitar, you might as well leave it he didn't remove too much wood so that it looks terrible and once you finalize the shape and put a finish on it it will probably look and play great!
The lower Horn looks like a Jackson soloist ,I’d deff. Re-Do that and keep the heel sanded as is looks amazing and I know the feeling have 3 soloist all neck thru construction 1 American,1 Japanese,1 Indonesian,all amazing I wouldn’t change that heel pocket for nothing.

Even if it's a llittle late, I would restore the lower horn, leave the heel, do a gold burst (yk gold in the middle and a burst to black), mix matched gold and black Hardware and mabye the Steve Vai signature bridge pickup in gold and a sustaniac. That with a gold top mount floyd or something in that direction would look awesome
That actually does sound pretty righteous!
I haven't started on this one, since there were several other project guitars in line ahead of it. But I think I'm in agreement - keep the heel as is, but restore the lower horn

TBH, I’m not totally sure which guitars he used throughout his career. But the 750xl was definitely one of them. He’s often mentioned whenever people talk about these things.

I do setups on my own stuff, but I also have a trusted guy I go to when it’s something more advanced / complicated. Especially when it comes to things like fret work or cutting a nut. His name is Evan Gluck, and I’ve worked with him for years. He’s a really good dude with decades of experience
