Wimpy, Weak, and Woke | Talking with John Cooper

  • I talked with John Cooper from Skillet about the cultural chaos that is ensuing across America. “This book uncovers the philosophies behind utopian dreams that become dystopian nightmares, and presents a positive vision for how we can thrive and flourish. The false promises of Man lead to destruction; God’s ways lead to life, and that’s the message I want to share in this book.”
John's book is out November 14th 2023. You can only order at www.JohnLCooper.com

Amen, meek does not mean weak. It is past time believers of all flavors take a stand for God through Jesus Christ. Living and walking by His Holy Spirit with no apologies. Thank you for introducing me to John Cooper. Now, let's go be a blessing.

I love your comment here! I use the phrasing “Do not confuse my meekness with weakness” at work and out in the world when someone decides to take advantage of my kindness or willingness to serve.

That last point is actually THE point.... do you want to live a lie? The trouble is that more and more people answer, "YES!". Christ warned believers again and again that, in the end days, "DO NOT BE DECEIVED!" Why would that seem to be Christ's primary warning to mankind? We only need to look around us to find out why.

Agree to everything except what he said about the Orthodox church.
It's not that they accept it, it's that they won't waste their time to explain to people who can't understand, so they just try to be nice.

I find it extremely problematic that people have twisted the meaning of the word "woke" and turned it into something completely different. To be woke was to remain awake to injustice. It was about not falling asleep and becoming too comfortable and not see injustices in the world. People were proud, especially in the black community to call themselves woke. It was a good thing. Then we let a few people twist it and turn it into something different and now Christians are using it as an insult against others. To me this is very off-putting and shows ignorance.

I’d say yes, because it is likely trying to deflect from colonial times influence/ Christendom and the story of the natives and pilgrims being in harmony is not acceptable. They want to foster racism and separation of people, not thanksgiving for putting aside differences and being truly charitable human beings.

    • @jeffreywriddlejr
      @jeffreywriddlejr 6 місяців тому

The agenda is to foster community in the church, since Thanksgiving is traditionally about family, not friends. By having a time for people to gather over food, you're providing for one of the essential human needs: companionship. Nothing wrong with doing something humans have done for thousands of years.

@@jeffreywriddlejrI can think of LOTS of things humans have been doing for thousands of years which displease God very much. Sounds to me possibly like another attack on traditional family.

These, then, were the doctrines of Paine, inspired by the Lord, Jehovih's Son, to wit:
One, the Creator, who is Almighty, matchless in wisdom, truth, power and unity of purpose; the author of all things, on the earth and on all other worlds, seen and unseen.
That the soul of man is immortal and everlasting, and shall ultimately attain to peace and joy in the heavens of the Almighty.
That, according to man's good or evil deeds, words, thoughts and actions whilst on earth, even so shall he inherit in heaven, light or darkness, joy or unhappiness.
That all the world is my country, and the same right alike to all men.
To do good, with all of one's wisdom and strength, is the highest religion.
That man hath a natural right, above all kings, priests and sacred writings, to serve his Creator in his own way.
That this is an age of reason, in which all men should be inspired, to read and think, and judge with their own judgment and not through any priest or church or Savior.
That the doctrine of a Savior is unjust; that no honest man should accept another's dying for him.
That the so-called sacred books are not the writings of the Creator; that their multiplicity of defects prove them to have been manufactured by corruptible authors.
That, in practice, the said sacred books have been used by unprincipled priests to promote wars, inquisitions, tyranny and destruction.
That man should rise up in his might to embrace his Creator, by the practice of good works, and by promoting brotherly love toward all men; and by charity and independence elicit the protection, the pride and the glory of the Almighty.

If you insist that something is good for you when it is proven to be bad for society at large, then don't even pretend to condemn capitalism for allowing people to put their self-interest ahead of others.

Why are you talking about the PROBLEMS in the world all the time, in John 17 Yeshua said "you are not Of this world", Melissa you need to decide was He talking about you? If yes then for your sake start acting like it. You seem to have a love for talking about these subjects, OK I therefore ask My Father, The Most High to put in you an amazing love about talking about Him and what He has to offer.

The words of his songs might lead people to Jesus, but so many of his songs are about self empowerment. Not strength through the Lord.
He talks one thing and sings a different songs. Throwing in 2 to 3 songs hinting at Jesus while 3 to 4 songs are self empowerment means his songs are more to the world, not to the Lord.

I always find it ironic when believers in an organized religion talk about the importance of believing things that are true while at the same time believing in a magic sky man who created the universe but has never been demonstrated to exist. Then, they use those beliefs to try to dictate how other people get to live their lives. You can't have it both ways, mate.

@@stefanoosterhof3086 Since you appear to be claiming they are teaching the doctrines of man in place of the doctrines of Christ, I would appreciate if you can back up your accusation... Remember the teachings of Christ and who has the role of "accuser" and how we as Christians ought to behave / whose behaviour to emulate. Personally, I have only ever heard him teaching truth and backing it up with scripture.
