The slap on Ray Liotta being real is an additional fun bit about this
No kidding? It's strange how Ray takes it almost like he's literally doped up in the moment. It doesn't phase him, just wakes him up a little
Yeah. Liotta didn’t know Sorvino was gonna hit him
@@jkelly11785 he barely reacts, it's so smooth. damn. lying like so many of us do, no sweat, just like when Catholic moms are telling you not to have sex, of course we say no mom and then go out and plow some
I always felt Paul portrayal was more moody than menacing and missed the mark of the actual crime boss
@@freemason4979was better for the film as this godfather kind of type guy, as opposed to the reality where he was lurching thug of a captain.
Owned the role✅
Brillant actor. He was snubbed at the Oscars - they didn’t even mention his name in the memoriam when he passed away. disgrace
Embarrassing omission 😮😮 . Disrespectful
What?! Fuck the Oscars.
Nobody cares about that woke crap anymore.
oh darn.
That makes me wonder how he felt politically for them to disrespect him like that….side note Weinstein allegedly harassed and black balled his daughter. You’d think the industry would show respect based on that alone
Fucking nailed this role. The way he sits and eats and calculates everything around him. Fucking brilliant.
He was a Capo (mafioso captain), that's his job !!!!
Paul Sorvino in tears at the Academy Awards when his daughter won.
I always felt Paul portrayal was more moody than menacing and missed the mark of the actual crime boss
@@freemason4979 you are correct, he didn't like these kind of movies. If you watched Paul Sorvino in tears when his daughter won her award.
@@freemason4979 Why are you spamming this moronic comment under every reply?
Sorvino bodied the role. Crazy. Crazy how much I had I crush on his daughter too. Bless the Sorvinos
Dude, her in replacememt killers? Unbelievable
The Oscar Committee did not acknowledge him when he passed. Total insult for a Great Actor
?!?!? That’s crazy!
Uncle Paul absolutely KILT that role -- brilliant in every scene. My faves are the slap scene after BIlly Bats, the "gotta turn my back on ya" scene, & that look in the courtroom
Burr, in Breaking Bad, was beyond great, because he was himself as a torpedo.
I m in a lounge/restaurant in NYC doing my thing in the bathroom and I hear a guy say for a place with 12$ drinks you would think it would have a clean bathroom. I look up and it’s Paul savino. And he was right. The bathroom was a mess.
Bill Burr is legit a good actor. I'd love to see him in more dramatic roles.
One of the two best scenes on the show was robbing the train of the methylene. Other one was one with Gus, Mike and Jesse in Mexico.
@johngalt60 My Burr favorite scene, is when he forced that idiot to write a check to the IRS.
One of his best, if not, best roles.
He had a "small" role in terms of the amount of time he was on screen in that movie but he was still one of the scariest people in that film. If Jimmy and Tommy's crazy asses were afraid of Paulie you knew he was not to be messed with. Great actor. RIP
Well he is based on a real person after all
Paul Sorvino played a Mafia Shylock(Bookie) in a "The Gambler" with James Caan. Great movie.
I loved Sorvino on Law and Order, so I was very disappointed when he left that show.
However, he absolutely nailed his part in Goodfellas. Great line about his character was "Paulie walked slow because he didn't have to walk fast."
That wasn't the line, but close enough 😂
This is the first time I’ve heard bill burr praise someone without being passive aggressive lol
I could listen to Bill Burr talk about movies all day 😅
It’s not Burrs story’s. It’s Burr telling Paul Sorvinos story.
Such a commanding presence. Love him❤
Apparently Bill never saw Paul on 1974's The Gambler. Another excellent tough guy role.
right. i dont know why all of a sudden people think bill burr is a movie expert
Well I guess Paul must have forgotten himself too, since Bill is quoting the man himself not just making up his own anecdote. Do people really have this short of an attention span?
Paul said this
You can find video of Paul relating nearly an identical story in an interview. Bill told it very well.
He was quoting Paul nearly perfectly@@wurlitzer78
Great great actor, perfect playing a crime boss
He's a Capo not a Boss
@@maralinekozial9131 what's the difference between the two? I thought for sure he was a crime boss in real life
@@Gregory-sm9pf he's a Capo (captain of a crew) a Boss (The Don) is on top which is 3 ranks higher up!!!!
U got associates at the bottom that haven't been made or took the oath yet , then u have the Made men ( mafia Soldiers) then u have the Capo's ( Captain of a crew of mafia soldiers) then u have the Consigleare (the Don's right hand man) then u have the Underboss (second to only the Don) & then u have the Don (boss of the entire family)
@@maralinekozial9131 holy shit! That's some serious rankings, you know your rankings bro, it's been an education, thanks Bro!
Paul was a great actor and great to work with
You worked with him?
He is amazing in the part because there are several times he shows extreme power and disapproval with a simple look.
He was most powerful when quiet with that menacing look he gave sitting outside eating before he slaps Henry. What a scene; What a film! Thank you Martin Scorsese; you should have won the Academy Award for this picture.
Paul Sorvino!….actor! Chef! Singer! New Yorker.
Seat belt user.
That scene where he is in the blue suit is from Oh God! Very underrated movie!
The guy in that scene with Paulie, Tony Darrow was actually mobed up in real life he associated with the Gambino family. He was active long after Goodfellas. He was arrested in 2007 for extortion and ordering a guy hurt cause he owed a loan shark money.
Larry Boy Barese
Lol, I just rewatched Oh God! and was surprised to see Paul as the pastor. I hadn't seen the movie since 1980, and always remembered a line he did, "You could say I _looooove_ that little doggie in the window."
Didn't put two and two together until 44 years later.
Super nice guy. Met him way back here in the Poconos.
Paul was so good in this - everyone was.
I’ve heard Sorvino tell that exact story. One day he looked in the mirror and saw Paulie
He killed it. He was Paul…quiet scary
PAUL SORVINO WAS A GREAT ACTOR.
Law and Order. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
That look in the end court scene he gives to Henry Hill struck me the first time I watched it. If looks could kill
He was phenomenal in Goodfellas. One of my favorite movies and due in no small part to the flawless cast including Paul Sorvino.
Paul sorvino was a gentleman...very good actor
You could see the beauty of his soul in his acting! His daughter is also a great and underrated actress, probably not know by a larger audience because she doesn’t do nude scenes in her movies!
The shot with Paul Sorvino wearing the pale blue suit and talking about "assembly" is from the 1977 film "Oh God!" where he played a corrupt Southern Baptist evangelist. Sorvino was brilliant in the role and owned every scene he was in, considering he was sharing the screen with George Burns, John Denver, Teri Garr, and Robert Pleasence. Directed by the late, great Carl Reiner.
Rotti-freaking-Largo!!! The founder of Geneco, and a damn fine opera singer, as well! Love this guy!
Oh Gosh, what a great story.
actually his best look in that movie BY FAR was during the courtroom scene... that's the one look i point to as face acting example over anything else ever
Yeah, he's far scarier than DeNiro in that scene.
You can *feel* that ice-cold gaze 🥶
Loved Paul Sorvino 😅
Very tasteful of them to salvage that painting of Tony Soprano as a lawn jockey. Lol
Was confused by the thumbnail, since that was him in "Oh, God!"
Im Italiano but don't care for Italian sausage & peppers but whenever i see big Pauly eating them in this movie , i automatically crave one
He played a mafia guy in The Firm.
The Firm is a great movie.
I ain’t watch this movie in so long thank u
Tips shirt. Nola in the building ⚜️
Big Paulie
He scared me!
Friend of Frank Dimone Jr
Lol
The other son 😂
Yup 💯
Tutti from Goodfellow s was Michael Jackson's manager
And Jimmy two times cuz he said everything 2 times. I’m gonna get the paper, get the paper. Jimmy obviously has ticks or OCD.
I thought about this character from time to time and it may be a stutter where he said the words correctly but just to make sure he says them again.
This isn't a "great Goodfellas story" this is an "I read an article" story.
The story Bill was talking about where Paul scared himself in the mirror was so douchey if you actually saw it.
Paul Sorvino said that during an interview for a documentary or something. That line always stuck with me because I thought, “Who the hell scares their self just by looking in the mirror?” Such a bs story. Lol
People don't give Paul sorvino enough credit-
- for having such a hot daughter
🐐
The way he eats and ponders when they're cooking Dogs is how I always envision myself when I eat with no UA-cam
Great movie, and I like Paul Sorvino, but I didn't believe him for a second as a mob boss.
Paul Sorvino called my daughter at 11:30pm to come over for a drink. What do you think he wanted? She was an aspiring actress at that time... She didn't go to his place...
BRO, this guy is going to end up in a dumpster…we ALL thought that 😂
That's exactly what i imagined real mob types to look like tho.
Best character in the movie 🍿
This story is from an interview with Sorvino… So it’s not Bull Burrs story…
Whos also a lovely singer btw
Why the cigar? I remember my uncle was an ex heroine addict he smoked as a vice for decades. Everyone knew his struggle but he was such a decent cool man to shoot the shit with. Everyone knew the old man with the cigar tucked in the corner of his mouth. Nowadays it seems like guys just want that status of guy with constant cigar in hand.
One of my favourite movies, but I think that’s the funniest story when Paul Sorvino tells it. He says he startled himself when he looked in the mirror. I mean really dude? You scared yourself by looking at yourself….
Poor Bill with that horrible wife of his. Feel bad for him
That my Friend is called the Gangster Stare! You Get That? Be Very Careful of Your Next Words!

I heard Sorvino tell this story. He was amazing in the role. But I thought Burr was going to 💩 all over him for being a pretentious actor. Who scares themselves in the mirror?! Check the clip where Sorvino tells the tale at a Goodfellas panel. Deniro almost rolls his eyes bc he’s heard that story 1000x.
“Bill Burr’s great” Goodfellas story” 😂 What a title. More accurate would be (and Bill would back me up on this):
“Bill Burr read an article once. Listen to him half-recall what he read.”
Funny enough..Paul Sorvino’s character was the only main character I liked in the movie…the rest were horrible and selfish.
Or you could just show the clip he's retelling verbatim...
This isn’t Burr’s story lmao
Wrong sk in tone, se xual preference, &
gen der! Ame rica is a toilet. The fact that I had to write my comment this way to get it “approved” proves my point.

FK this Oscar thing. Self decadent loathing ceremony. Ricky Gervais hosted some awards show and ripped every star. Cheers to all who laughed
uncontrollably throughout.
I laugh hardest when it's taken seriously, tearing up,
thanking everyone they ever met. All about money and popularity this week. Also a ratings winner 🏆 🥇 🏅.
Pauley moved foe nobody
He just wants 5 minutes with Harvey Weinstein.
Paul couldn’t scare a fly… I’m not believing his own hype
totally unconvincing character
only casting mistake in goodfellas
How???
Bill , I lost all respect for you
I'm sure he'll be heartbroken to hear that.
@@aberamagold7509 I'm sure he'll blow you for sticking up for him.
Overrated.
The voice Paul Sorvino was doing was Brian Cox. Like him as well
I got to meet the man at a film festival once...allegedly.
