Boat conformations are more unstable than chair conformations because of steric crowding. However, if you were given a boat conformation to start with, my advice is to convert it to a chair first. Then, you can go about the process described in this video to get it to a Newman projection. You might find the following video helpful in your studies: leah4sci.com/cyclohexane-ring-flip
@@Leah4sci also in my note it is just written that chair confirmation will transform to gauche form in Newman projections and boat form being less stable will transform to less stable eclipsed form in Newman projections.This makes sense but what's the steps behind.. can you plzz elaborate....btw I watched your recommended video of ring flip and conclude that as rotations are made about C atom while changing conformers between boat nd chair form therefore there will be transformation in Newman projections also (from gauche to eclipsed).....is this correct

Hello Leah! This video has really helped me so much in my organic chem class, however, I'm still confused about how you do the double newman projections when the question indicates the bonds you're supposed to be doing the newman projections for in a chair conformation. Could you please teach that as well? I have a midterm in a week and I'm sure this will be on there. Would really appreciate this!
