    Hi Dave! Loved the way you explained them!
    Can I classify the conformations with their responding strains as followings?
    Staggered = no torsional strains
    Anti = No Strains
    Gauche = Steric Strains
    Eclipsed = Torsional Strains

    • @ProfessorDaveExplains
      @ProfessorDaveExplains  9 років тому +7

      +Milton Chow hmm, I've never really thought of it that way, but i suppose it makes sense. however, let's just say that anti involves the least possible amount of steric hindrance, though not necessarily zero.

    actually equatorial and axial positions can tell u if they are cis or trans it is- for 1,2 carbon axial and equatorial will be cis to one another for 1,3 carbons axis and equatorial will be trans and for 1,4 axial and equatorial will be cis
    if at 1,2 carbon both hydrogens are equatorial/axial it would be trans relation if at 1,3 carbon both hydrogen are equ/axial it will be cis
