I looooove this couple so much. They were so fun to watch on DWTS and their love story is so heartwarming. Their individual journeys to where they are now are each fascinating as well.
And I love that Gabe is back! He was so gray on the show and on tour!

I love how Britt acknowledged the privilege she had when it came to dance training .
I also like how she acknowledged how culture plays a role . In the Black Community , ballroom is not a huge thing, like hockey isn’t a huge thing . Most of us probably were never exposed to ballroom besides watching it on TV . It’s just not something you see often .
We can NEVER know how tough it was for these deaf celebrities to have been on DWTS but it amazes me that they coped and the results were so astounding. Nyle freaking blew me away with his DWTS journey, not diminishing Daniel's or Marlee's. They all really amazed me🥰
Brit is beautiful and I’m not talking about her outer, I am talking about her inner. Her personality is very beautiful! Daniel is adorable, kind and has a great personality as well! This is awesome ❤

Also, I know eye contact is important, but I love that Britt & Daniel look at each other when one is speaking/signing. It shows that they care about/respect/value what the other person has to say.
I also gotta give major kudos to Britt for how much her signing has grown! I remember when Daniel 1st started DWTS, he would look at Gabe for help in understanding what Britt was saying. When she signs now, he just looks at her & doesn't have to rely on Gabe to understand what she's saying.
Gosh I love these two. I am so glad that DWTS brought them together. Saw him the first time on a show called Switched at Birth and followed his work to CODA, which was SO GOOD. They are such an adorable couple.
Britt signs so naturally that I can almost follow her without actually knowing ASL. Very nice!
I know alot of couples come and go from DWTS, but these two are the best! They are cute, and real, and sweet and so genuine. The best of relationships start out as the best of friendships and that is so apparent here.
They’re a great couple, and you were a good podcast interviewer who asked good questions and really listened to their responses.

This was so beautiful I loved how balance the interview of learning about Daniel and Britt. Especially loved how Britt talked about her foundation. I don’t think people realize how much diversity of support financially and educationally black and brown communities have of less of resources. Plus her bringing up the origin of ballroom dancing being developed from black and brown culture

I met Daniel at Deaf Expos in a pretty long time ago. He was very friendly with me as ever I’ve been there for the first time. I liked him because he was always supportive of the LBGTQ people. I told him that I was gay too. He said that he was very open-minded about gay people and usually had socialized with them. He was very amazing and worked hard for the deaf actor in movies! He impressed me a lot. I am happy that he found a real woman that he loved and taught her to sign language to communicate with each other. That’s fabulous to see him in so many different talent activities in his own life to succeed! ❤

Love this interview, though I was extremely disappointed with how incorrect the in video subtitles were compared to the dialogue. In particular with this interview, ensuring access to quality, correct, and legible subtitles is super important.
britt is doing contact signing, not ASL. still great. a lot of people use ASL as an umbrella term but this is more contact signing or PSE. she doesn't use ASL syntax really at all. very impressive of course though. there is variation in ASL, true, but not to this level. she doesn't use any ASL word order.
Wow, so can she communicate with this contact signing with every deaf person that uses ASL? Do Deaf people accept it? Now that I read your comment makes me wonder because maybe she found this signing easier to learn and Daniel understands her, but what about others.
@@rebecasc3740 most people will understand it because they most likely know [written] english as well. it's typical for adults learning to sign to fall somewhere on the contact signing spectrum rather than "true" ASL. only interpreters really need to know true ASL (but they also have to know SEE AND PSE as well) so Deaf clients have full access to fit their needs. i do wish daniel would have corrected her to stop calling it ASL because she does NO ASL word order at all. it's cringe to watch her kind of brag about picking ASL up so easily when she really didn't. it was easy because it's not ASL lol. there's nothing wrong with contact signing in this context but have some self awareness, girl!.

@@rebecasc3740 exactly! it reinforces the false idea that ASL is not a real language but it is and it's just as challenging to learn as a spoken language.
She probably doesn’t know it’s not ASL. I wouldn’t call it “cringe” for her to not know she isn’t doing ASL. It’s still very impressive that she learned to communicate with him and if it’s what works for them, then it’s what works for them. Obviously it’s not good to share misinformation, but she probably doesn’t know that she’s doing that.
